When a cat has hunted down a mouse, and when it has cornered the mouse, it never goes for the kill.. Before killing the mouse, the cat plays a game of death with the mouse... Lifting a paw a little so the mouse can wriggle a little, try to escape... but the cat will never take the paw enough for the mouse to escape...
It gives hope, and stifles that same hope... Pretends to give freedom.. pretends to give a chance to live.. only to play till finally the cat pounces and the mouse is eaten in one gobble...
Gone...
And today we watched the same cat and mouse game as Rudra became the predator who hunted down Paro...
He comes to the cold dark cell that is imprisoning her and after the previous atrocities he has done to her, she asks 'ab kya chahiye mujhse?'
And he roughly drags her to her feet and as she trembles he starts the game of death, he opens her handcuffs and frees her hands... She is momentarily stunned...
She is still shaking as she wearily look at him...and he drags her out calling 'chal' and she asks 'kaha leja raha hai manne?'
And he gives her the first ray of hope in that dank dark cell 'wapas, tere gaav' and she stares shocked...and a tiny trickle of hope seeps in to her horror filled mind as the first flicker of hope is visible in her eyes...
'aazad hai tu' he gives further hope...
And she lags behind.. too incredulous to truly believe in it.. and he simply drops her hand and bates her 'nahi aana toh beti rahiye..' and the innocent is successfully lured and like a little lamb for slaughter she follows...
The cat is ten steps ahead in this game...he doesn't touch her or force her.. he allows her to trail behind him on her free will...
eyes downcast, still trembling and bewildered she follows him out...
At the door of the headquarters, once again in the open sunlight she stares around...her tear drenched eyes taking in the sight that was denied to her till now..
He pretends to be ok when she defies him and takes the backseat.. YET his anger is evident as he starts the vehicle and moves it so she is almost thrown before she managed to sit properly..
And once he calmed himself once again.. he is taking her away and he tries to get her defenses down by talking softly to her.. telling her about the desert.. her village...her small world inside that rural village..
she continues to cry as he lulls her with his words... and the claws show as he says 'koi khoj nahi.. koi nishan nahi'
And softly he says he will make her understand what he meant, and again roughly applies brakes almost throwing her out of the seat, making her fall..
And her eagerness to get out of the vehicle and find solace in what is familiar is curtailed by him...
'3 steps and u will be in ur home. 3 days and whatever wounds that happened will end, 3 months and whatever happened with u, the pain of it will end' and he drags her out like a rag doll..
she hangs on to the jeep for support as she takes in the faces of the people amongst whom she grew up...something familiar after the horrors that she was put through. and as she sees her mamisa and cries for her lunging towards her, he holds her, imprisons her once again... dangling what is most precious to her survival in front of her eyes... yet not letting her have it...
and continues his talk 'but even if u take 3 lifetimes, as long as u stay quiet u will never reach ur own... so before u go u will have to do something'
and he lays down the condition to her, to sign the papers implicating the Thakur over arms dealing and she is free...
She is shocked as she has no idea what he is talking and says he lies.. he is furious and is determined to play this game with her..
'sign... u don't know how to sigh? then keep ur finger print'
and she says no... and he is furious..
and he ups the game and drags her to her mamisa 'u wanna be free right?'
and he allows her to embrace her mami, only to ask her to collaborate and get the sign...
And thus he continues the his game... till he kills her spirit.. strips her soul... and till she loses her, her identity... the sense of who she is... everything that matters to her...
The cat is playing .. little by little. the claws r tightening..and the mouse is bleeding... will he let the mouse go before this game kills the mouse.. is yet to be see...
and if he does let the mouse go.. how much scarred will it be from the marks of the claws..
