Episode begins with Shakuni walking towards Bhishma in Hastinapur's sabha. Bhishma says he is sorry about hearing of Shakuni's father's death. Shakuni tells Bhishma that he has kept a part of his father close by him - he has made dice from his father's bone/ashes. Shakuni says his father always listened to him, and now these dice will also always obey him.
Dronacharya is announced into the sabha. Vidhur welcomes him and everyone is excited to hear news of the princes education. Drona tells Dhritrashta that he has imparted excellent level of knowledge to all the princes, but Dhritrashta is more interested in Duryodhan, he assumes Duryodhan must be the most skilled. Drona and Bhishma want the princes to present the skills they have learnt in front of the entire city.
Shakuni interrupts and instigates Dhritrashta into turning the presentation into a competition, where the princes are all pitted against each other. Dhrit orders Drona to organise the competition.
Vidhur and Bhishma are dicussing Dhrit's impatience to prove Duryodhan's worthiness to be King. Vidhur is worried that the princes may fight for real in front of Hastinapur's citizens. Bhishma tells Vidhur they must not let that happen. Kunti arrives and Bhishma promises her that he won't let the princes arrival turn into politics. Kunti is worried about people's thoughts of her sons taking part in the competition. Bhishma tells Kunti not to be afraid of Shakuni.
Shakuni is playing dice with Purvochan, the architect. Purvochan says he must think 100 times before he agrees to the plan. Shakuni tells Purvochan that he is a low status person so Bhishma will not even notice him. Purvochan agrees and Shakuni tells the servants to leave. He says during the competition Dhrit only wants the people to be chanting Duryodhan's praises. He says the door in the competition should break with just one arrow, so that the person under the door will be killed instantly.
Purvochan asks who is the plan for, Shakuni says, for the person who Duryodhan won't be able to defeat.
Ashwathama is inscribing names into a wooden wheel. Drona comes and asks him if he is preparing for the competition. Ashwathama disagrees and says he is preparing to make his friend Duryodhan the winner. Drona says friendship with Arjun would have been more profitable.
Drona says the shastras tells us to always be friends with those who are cleverer and stronger than us. Ashwathama says that he needs Duryodhan and Duryodhan needs him to obtain Hastinapur's throne. Drona tells him this will never happen.
Ashwathama wants to make his friendship with Duryodhan stronger so that Hastinpur will always protect him once he becomes king. Ashwathama asks Drona not to interfere during the competition, no matter what happens Drona should remain silent.
The next day is competition day. Dhrit and Shakuni arrive at the competition arena which is already packed with Hastinapur's citizens. Shakuni says this is the day we've been waiting for the past 12 years. Dhritrashta says you promised me this day would be the happiest of my life. Dhrit says he hopes there is nothing lacking in Shakuni's preparations.
Kunti comes to see Gandhari. Gandhari says today she wants to see her sons from Kunti's view. Suddenly Dussala arrives and bows to Kunti. Dussala is excited to see her brothers skills.
Dhrit welcomes all the guests in the arena. Drona arrives and explains how Ashwathama will shoot an arrow at the wooden wheel and whoever's name the arrow lands on will fight with the previous winner. The longest standing prince in the arena will be declared the winner. Bhishma declares there is a rule which must be followed, no prince should draw blood when fighting. If that happens then the prince will be disqualified. Bhishma says this competition is to be treated as a game between brothers.
Drona blows his conch shell and the wooden wheel begins to spin. Ashwathama exchanges glances with Shakuni and prepares to fire an arrow.
Precap: Duryodhan enters the arena, as do Nakul, Sahadev and Yudhishtira.
