Shahid-Sona's romance begins with a thappi'
Shahid-Sona's romance begins with a thappi'

Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, who are paired together for the first time in director Prabhu Dheva's R...Rajkumar, got along like a house on fire during the making. The comfort the duo shared off screen has added to their chemistry on screen.

Sonakshi says this is not a typical 'boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after' kind of romance. "In this love story, the boy sees the girl, he gets slapped by her, she hates him, yet he never stops chasing her and then they fall in love. It's a very fresh and quirky kind of romance," she adds.

Shahid, who plays an angry young man when thrashing baddies, but melts in front of Sonakshi's character, says, "We were surprised at how great we look together. I hope the audience likes our pairing."

Incidentally, the romance between Rajkumar (Shahid) and Chanda (Sonakshi) in the film, produced by Sunil Lulla and Viki Rajani, blossoms over a thappi - the term given by the cast and crew to Shahid's pappi gesture in response to Sonakshi's attempts at giving him a thappad.

R... Rajkumar, produced by Eros International and NextGen Films, releases on December 6.

Despite his injury, Shahid Kapoor shot action for 'R... Rajkumar'
Despite his injury, Shahid Kapoor shot action for 'R... Rajkumar'

After films like Table 21 and 3G, producer Viki Rajani forays into what you may call big-ticketentertainment with R... Rajkumar, starringShahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonu Sood. While the team got along well like a family, the filmmaker and his lead actor have forged a happy relationship and they are even talking about another outing.

All praise for his hero, the producer says, "Shahid is extremely cooperative. He has spared no effort and met Prabhu Dheva sir's expectations." Recalling an instance when the actor's sincerity and dedication impressed him, Rajani reveals, "Shahid had got hurt while we were shooting the climax. He had torn a ligament in his leg and was in pain. Yet he continued to shoot the major action sequence for eight days, while regularly working out with his physiotherapist."

As for his heroine and director, the producer says, "Besides being a thorough professional, Sonakshi is a cool and fun person. Prabhu sir is a simple person for whom work is worship. That's what shows in the films he makes."

He adds, "Prabhu sir, Shahid, Sonakshi, I and all our heads of various departments worked in sync. On an average, about 300 people were working every day. It's not like other films where one person doesn't get along with someone else."

Rajani, who has discussed with his actor about collaborating again in future, says, "Shahid may not really react sometimes, but he knows and understands everything. He has faith in me to deliver as a producer. And as an actor, he delivered to our expectations."

Asked about the kind of film he will make with Shahid next, the filmmaker replies, "It depends on the concept. When I do Table 21 or a 3G, I design the project in that budget and space. When I see a script like R... Rajkumar and an actor like Shahid, it's a mainstream commercial movie."

Decision to go bald for 'Haider' justified: Shahid Kapoor
Actor Shahid Kapoor has agreed to go bald forVishal Bharadwaj's " Haider". He says the decision was driven by the fact that the look is justified for his role in the movie.

"Haider" is said to be the director's adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'.

"I thought it is justified. When I read the script, I found it very interesting and I have tried to do something shocking whenever I have worked with Vishal. With him I have always tried to do something different," the actor said here at a promotional event of his upcoming release"R...Rajkumar" Friday.

Meanwhile, Shahid also admits that one of the best performances of his career was in Vishal's film"Kaminey", which released in 2009.

"He is a phenomenal director. He has given me 'Kaminey'. It has been the most appreciated role of my life till now. It's great working with him again. It has been a lot of fun," said Shahid.

"Haider" also stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead.
