New Delhi: An Odia girl, who is working as a social activist in a New Delhi-based organisation, was brutally attacked by two persons while she was going to rescue an 11-year-old girl who was forced by her family members to marry at such a minor age.
She is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi in a very critical condition. According to sources, Linkan Subudhi, an IT professional, is working as a social activist in a Great Noida social organisation.
"On Thursday, after being informed about an 11-year-old minor girl's marriage without her consent, she had gone to rescue her. After reaching there, when she tried to rescue the girl, the girl's mother and her would-be-husband suddenly stabbed her head with knife," said Linkan's father Raj Kishore Subudhi.
As many as 25 stitches were done on her head. She would be kept under observation for next 72 hours. Meanwhile, the police arrested the woman and launched a manhunt to nab the other accused.

Attack can't deter me: Linkan Subudhi
Despite wreathing in pain at a private hospital in Delhi, Linkan said she would continue to serve the society. "I am not going to panic. I will keep working for slum dwellers, especially women in need," Linkan told a private news channel in Delhi.
Linkan was brutally attacked for trying to rescue a minor girl from forcible marriage at Noida on Thursday. The 15-year-old girl's groom-to-be and her mother allegedly stabbed Linkan and hammered her with bricks, causing her serious head injuries. Nearly 25 stitches were sutured on Subudhi's head.
A day after chief minister Naveen Patnaik expressed shock over the attack, home secretary Bipin Saxena, Rajya Sabha member Renubala Pradhan, chairperson of State Commission for Women Lopamudra Buxipatra and BJP leader Dhrmendra Pradhan met Linkan at the Delhi hospital.
"The resident commissioner in Delhi has been asked to look into the matter. I have asked him to take up the matter with the Delhi government," Naveen told the media on Monday. After meeting Linkan, the touring state government officials said she is recuperating.
"Her condition is fine," Renubala said. A native of Nayagarh district, she has been residing at Noida since 2008. Her parents stay at Housing Board Colony in Chandrasekharpur here. The worried family members of Linkan demanded justice for her and described her a braveheart.
