That guy Ayaz is being liked by a lot of girls. I think what matters is romance and for audience it does not matter how the actors look.
But more than the looks the acting also matters.
Many great actors like Om Puri, Nazruddin Shah where not good looking but you watch their films and you will fall in love with their acting.

i also like the acting of that guy..
but i dun like his looks..
and common yaar naseerudin shah is a handsome guy (: (: i liked him in his earlier movies

Oho I did not mean to make u feel bad just that I never found Naz good looking but when u see his acting u can't help loving him. Especially movies like Mirch Masala and Pestonjee.
