CHAPTER ' 1
Indira was standing at the edge of
the roof and she remembered how Sameer crashed her both physically and
mentally.She slowly stepped on the end and closed her eyes.She was about to
jump off,when someone pulled her from behind.It was her MIL,Simi.Simi pulled
her downwards and asked,"Ye tu kya karne
ja rahi hai Indira?Kya paagal ho gayi hai kya tu?"Indira didn't reply but
stared blankly towards her.Simi shook her and asked,"Main kuch puch rahi hu tujhse jawaab de?"Indira,instead of
replying fainted in her arms.
Indira
was hurriedly taken to the hospital.Simi called Sameer immediately and asked
him to reach the hospital.When Sameer reached,he asked,"Kya hua mom?"She replied,"Doctor
Indira ko check kar rahe hai."She asked,"Aakhir baat kya hai Sameer?Main peechle kahi mahino se dekh rahi hu vo
bilkul hi chup rehti hai,tere saamne aate hi ajeeb si harkate karti hai.Tum
dono ek dusre se baat nehi karte,kuch puchti hu to jawaab nehi dete?What the
hell is going on between you two?"Sameer replied,"Mom-"He had to stop since the doctor came out.The doctor said,"Mrs Diwan bohot achcha hua jo aap inhe
jaldi se yaha le aayi.patient ki haalat bilkul bhi thik nehi hai.Inka BP bhi
low hai aur inhe dekh kar aisa lagta hai jaise inme jeene ki chah hi nehi
hai.Aur aisi soch is condition mein bilkul bhi thik nehi hai."Sameer
confusingly asked,"Is condition???Kya
hua hai usko?"The doctor replied,"Aapki
wife pregnant hai Mr Diwan."Both Sameer and Simi were stunned.Simi said,"Indira ma banne waali hai aur itni bari
baat usne mujhe bataayi hi nehi."Sameer was damn excited on hearing the
news.He grabbed Simi's arms and said,"Mom!Mom
suna aapne?Main papa banne waala hu.Iam going to be a father.I just can't
believe it."But Simi was not happy.She was worried about the reason of
Indira's action.Simi asked the doctor,"Doctor
kya main usse mil sakti hu?"The doctor permitted her to go inside.
Simi
entered inside alone.Indira was half sitting on the bed and was looking with
blank expression.Simi sat beside her.Indira looked at her and a drop of tear
fall from her eyes.Simi rubbed her head and asked,"Kya baat hai beta bol na mujhe?Koi pareshaani hai to bol na apni ma
ko?Bol?"She still blankly stared at her.Simi changed the topic and
excitedly said,"Tu'Tu ma banne waali hai
beta.Tere kokh mein tere aur Sameer ka bachcha hai.""Nehi!Nehi chahiye mujhe ye
bachcha!"Indira screamed with terror.Simi was total confused.She asked,"Nehi chahiye matlab?Hua kya hai Indira
bata mujhe?Tujhe kasam hai meri.Bol?"Indira broke down.She put her head on
Simi's chest and cried her heart out.Simi tried to console her but understood
that something very serious and very big had happened.After crying a lot,Indira
colled down a bit and then slowly told her whatever Sameer did with her.Simi
was totally shattered on hearing this.She could not believe that Sameer could
not commit such a hedious crime.After Indira had done Simi said,"Tu itna dard jhelti rahi aur ek baar bhi
mujhe nehi bataaya."Indira said,"Aapne
mujhe kyu bachaaya ma?Mar jaane deti mujhe.Main nehi jeena chahti ma."Simi
said,"Main tera dard samajhti hu beta
par in sab mein uski kya galti hai jo tere andar saans le raha hai."Indira
said,"Jis aadmi se main is dunia mein
sabse zyaada nafrat karti hu,jisse mujhe sabse zyaada ghinn aati hai usika hi
to ansh hai ye.Ye bachcha mujhe har pal us dardnaak raat ki yaad dilaayega.Mujhe
is bachche ko janam nehi dena hai ma."Simi tried to make her understand
that the child was not at fault but she couldnot convince her.At last Simi
said,"Thik hai main doctor se baat karke
dekhti hu."She consulted with the doctor about it but the doctor warned her
not to think even about it,since Indira's physical condition is not so strong
to undergo an abortion and if they become successful also,Indira may not be
able to conceive again.So Simi explained Indira and after a lot of persuation,Indira
agreed not to abort the child.
After
returning home from the hospital with Indira,Simi called Sameer and in front of
everyone,she cut all her ties with him and declared that Indira is her only
child and from now Sameer is dead for her.She said,"Aaj se tu apne hi ghar mein ajnabee bankar rahega lekin tu fikar mat
kar main tujhe tere bachche se dur nehi rakkhungi.Aaj se tere har cheezo ka
dhyaan ghar ke naukar rakkhenge."Everyone were confused at Simi's decision
but after knowing the reason,they supported her.Sameer,thiugh was hurt but
since he was a strong man,he accepted the decision and said,"Thik hai mujhe aapka faisla manzur hai.Par
main akela nehi hu.Mera humsafar mera ye aanewaala bachcha banega."Saying
he left.
Simi and the whole family took a lot of care of Indira.Indira hated the
child with the core of her heart,so she never did anything lovingly for the
child but did as Simi asked her to do.She also put a cautious eye so that
Indira didn't have to face Sameer.But Sameer too was least bothered about
everyone.He was only concerned about his child and in his subconscious mind
about Indira also.So,without letting anyone know,he always used to collect
information about Indira and the status of her pregnancy from the doctor.He
also made arrangements from his part to welcome his child.
After
9 months,Indira delivered a beautiful baby girl.simi brought the baby to Indira
and excitedly said,"Indira dekh kitni
pyaari bachchi hai.Bilkul tujhpar gayi hai.Ekbaar dekh na apni beti ko."Indira
turned against her and replied,"Main
uski shakal bhi nehi dekhna chahti hu ma please aap usey yahase le jaaiye."At
that moment,the baby cried out.Simi said,"Dekh
isey bhukh lagi hai Indira kamsekam isey dudh to peela de."Indira didn't
react.Simi pleaded,"Indira dekh ye bohot
ro rahi hai.Ma ka dudh iske liye bohot zaruri hai.Jab isey tu is dunia mein
mere khaatir le hi aayi hai to kamsekam iski jaan to bachaale varna ye bhukh ke
mare mar jaayegi."Indira,on hearing it shivered a bit.She got up and took
the baby in her arms and without even looking at her face,she started feeding
her.While she just started feeding,Indira had a strange feeling.A feeling of
motherhood,a feeling to love her child but at that moment Sameer's face came in
front of her and all her motherly feelings,which had just started growing were
suppressed by her hatred.After feeding the baby,Indira gave her back to Simi
and said,"Ho gaya ab le jaaiye isey yaha
se."Simi took the baby away and as soon as she stepped outside the
cabin,she found Sameer standing.He opened his hands and said,"Mujhe do na mom,maine abhi tak apni beti
ki shakal bhi nehi dekhi hai."She gave the baby to him and then left from
there to meet the doctor.Sameer rained kisses on her and pampered her a lot.He
said,"Dekh beta tu bhi bilkul mere jaisi
hai.Hum dono ke paas ma hote huye bhi ma nehi hai.Par tu fikar mat kar tere
papa hai na.Hum dono ek dusre ka khayaal rakkhenge aur ek dusre ko kabhi akela
nehi chorenge.I promise.I love you mera bachcha."Sameer kissed on his
daughter's forehead.
