Hello all,

PC users utilize computer systems to send and receive data, or digital information. If this data is confidential and needs to be secured against unauthorized access, data access control is the solution. Data access control is a method or system that controls access to data in a computer-based information system. Data access control often involves an authentication process. An authentication process requires that the individual requesting access to secure information identify himself via the use of one or more authentication factors. An authentication factor can be something the user knows, such as a password. Another factor can be something the user has, such as a smart card. A third kind of authentication factor involves what the user is, such as biometric data like a fingerprint. Data access control authorization often involves a reader device, where the requester presents one or more identification factors to the reader's control panel. The reader's processor then compares the requester's criteria with the information it has on record for that individual. If the information is a match, the reader will grant the individual access to the secure data.
