Each year our birthday forces us to grow

Debina Bonnerjee Choudhary, popularly known as Devi Sita of Sagar Arts' Ramayan (2008-2009) and Mayuri Narayan of Garima Productions' Chidiya Ghar (2011-present), is celebrating her 30th birthday this Thursday, the 18th of April!

Aside from Ramayan and Chidiya Ghar, Debina also acted in a Tamil fantasy series from 2005-2006 called Mayavi, where she played a negative character opposite her husband, television heartthrob Gurmeet Choudhary. In 2010, Debina acted in three episodic roles in the mythological series, Mahima Shani Dev Ki, where she played the characters of Princess Damayanti, Mahasati Savritri, and a village girl Ganga. In the same year, Debina and Gurmeet acted in a short documentary movie called Nayi Chetna, which spread a positive message to society about the benefits of blood donation.

Debina began her career by playing small roles in a few South Indian movies, and after the completion of Ramayan she was a participant in many reality shows, such as Pati Patni aur Woh, Aahat, Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout, Star Ya Rockstar, Welcome-Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi Ki, and Nach Baliye: Shriman v/s Shrimati. Out of these reality shows, Debina was with her husband Gurmeet Choudhary in Pati Patni aur Woh & Shriman v/s Shrimati.

In February 15, 2011, Debina and Gurmeet Choudhary tied the knot in a small ceremony amidst their family and close friends. Recently, the couple shot together for an item song in the upcoming Punjabi movie, Yaar Mera Rab Warga, for which Gurmeet is the main lead.

Let's wish Mrs. Choudhary a very happy birthday and a wonderful year ahead full of love, happiness, and prosperity!

Debina became a hit with the audience by their spellbinding performance as Devi Sita. Ramayan (January 1, 2008 - June 26, 2009) gave her a recognition in the television industry and she was wholeheartedly accepted as Sita all over the world by audiences!

When mythological fans first saw the divine sequence of Sita Swayamvar in Ramayan, they voiced a desire to see this couple married in real life.😉

Playing the role of Devi Sita, she got recognized for her acting skills and garnered fans all over the world. At first, Debina was not sure whether this role was the right one for her, because she was not much familiar with Sitaji's character and did not know whether she could do justice to it, but Gurmeet(Her Husband who played Ram in the same Ramayan sequence) convinced her to give it a try and she found much to her surprise that she enjoyed stepping into the Goddess's shoes.

As Ramayan progressed, Debina began to relate well with her character and felt Sita Mata's pain and suffering as she enacted all the emotional scenes. She mentioned in an interview how everyone on the sets had thought she might need psychiatric help after the episode of Sita's Mahaprasthaan, because Debina could not restrain her tears and just sat there crying long after the filming was done. The injustice that Devi Sita had suffered not only touched her heart, but everyone else's on the sets. As mentioned in her blog, with the end of Sita came the realization that Ramayan was done, and that the close-knit family which they had all formed was to break apart very soon. It was an emotional moment not only for Debina, but also for Gurmeet and all the other actors who became attached to the show for almost two years.

Debina's respect for Devi Sita's character grew as a result of Ramayan, and she mentioned how acting in the mythological show was an experience she would never forget anytime during her acting career. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and she really gave her 100% to the character of Goddess Sita. Her fans will never forget Ramayan for as long as they live, and it will continue to be a timeless classic and be watched and rewatched by families for generations to come.

In 2006, Debina worked as lead actress in Indian television's first 3D TV series,Mayavi, a Tamil language production by GV Films for Jaya TV which was later dubbed for the Telugu and Malayalam television audiences as well which won him a popular fan base in South India.

Mayavi got me the best opportunity of my life (Ramayan). Debina and I were cast as Ram and Sita after our pairing in Mayavi.

Pati Patni Aur Woh was a reality show that was aired on NDTV Imagine from 28 Sept. 2009 - 4th December 2009 . The reality show was based on couples basically living a dummy of their own life managing their house, kids and grandparents throughout the show. The show had 5 couples as participants including Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee.

That time Debina worked with Gurmeet Choudhary and they did this reality show where they kinda lived their whole life in a short version.. They together handled all the responsibilities in the show and Gurmeet came out as that loving and extremely adorable person who is absolutely in love with Debina. That is when he absolutely got confirmed that he wants to be with Debina all his life.
Then, PPAW also witnessed one of Debina's special moment when She was proposed by Gurmeet choudhary for marriage.

Nayi Chetna was a short film about blood donation By Rakesh Dubey. It starred Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee as the leads.
The story was as follows:
It is a story of a couple from a village, where the wife is pregnant and the couple goes to the hospital for a checkup. At the same time there comes an emergency case of a boy who urgently needs blood. The husband refuses to donate blood inspite of the wife insisting him to. After a few days the wife meets with an accident. She needs blood urgently and the husband now requests people of the village to donate blood but everybody refuses. And then' The films ends on a positive note.

Debina also acted in three episodic roles of Sagar Arts' Mahima Shani Dev Ki, another popular mythological show, as Sati Savitri, Princess Damayanti, and Ganga, all three of them faithful devotees of Lord Shani.

Debina again proved her versatility and multitalents and tried her hand in two other reality shows Zor ka Zhatka, Star ya rockstar and Welcome - Baaji Mehmaan nawaji ki"

Debina bagged a role in Sab Tv's new and well received show, Chidiya Ghar. She plays the role of the crazy yet loveable Mayuri Narayan, wife of Gaumukh Narayan and one of the caring, loving bahus of retired school teacher, Kesari Narayan. Fans have fallen in love with the character of Mayuri whose personality is based off of a peacock, and this is all due to Debina's talented acting which has really grown after playing a comedic character. We hope Debina will continue to entertain us in Chidiya Ghar for a long time and that the show continues to receive even greater success amongst its loyal viewers.

"In 2004, there was a Sahara Bollywood star contest held, where actors from all over the country were auditioned, and the winner would obviously be well promoted. Debina came in from Kolkata and me from Mumbai. Only 15 were shortlisted and the two of us belonged to this shortlisted lot. We were held up at a 5-star hotel here in Mumbai. We never really had any kind of conversation actually. It was only confined to the eye sight! Yes, once in a while joking around or just a simple hi-hello was exchanged but nothing beyond. Then one day, we were all sitting for dinner in the hotel where Debina was seated next to me. I casually asked her where she's from and where she stayed before entering into this contest. She replied Adarshnagar and I faked that I was from there too and how we must get married! I told her I would talk to her parents for her hand and we would live happily ever after in Adarshnagar! And truthfully this was all said with non seriousness at all! I guess it turned out to be one of those things that we just happen to say and turn true"

"Meanwhile I kept meeting Gurmeet often. His friend and my flat mate were dating. The four of us had met through the Sahara Contest. One day I told Gurmeet how his friend was taking advantage of his friendship and used him only for transportation because they were at Bandra and we at Oshiwara. Gurmeet would drop him back home at two and three in the morning! So basically Gurmeet and I started with my care and concern for him. I felt the need to protect him. I don't like nonsense of this sort and cannot stand wrong. I got out of that PG flat and Gurmeet drove me around on his bike to find me another place to live. We found me a flat and since then, we understood each other and our needs very well. We had no friends except each other and from then on, our comfort levels been fantastic."

The couple was next seen together in Nayi Chetna, which was a documentary film on blood donation. Gurmeet and Debina played the role of a simple village couple who learned about the benefits of blood donation. Since Nayi Chetna, Gurmeet and Debina have worked on different projects until recently, both took part in a dance reality show, Nach Baliye: Shriman vs Shrimati where they competed against each other as husband and wife. Last but not least, they also danced together in an item song of a Punjabi movie, Yaar Mera Rab Warge, for which Gurmeet is the male lead.

Gurmeet and Debina finally tied the knot on February 15, 2011 in a small private ceremony which only family and close friends attended. They later had a grand reception which many popular celebrities as well as a wider range of their family and friends were a part of.

I first fell in love with you when I saw you as beautiful princess Sita in Ramayan. You looked drop dead gorgeous in the royal outfits and you did total justice to Devi Sita's character. I cannot name one scene which I loved most in Ramayan, because you put your heart and soul into every scene you did.
