Before entering into entertainment industry, worked as an operation manager at Jindal Telecom for 7 years.

His journey in small screen till date*03/12/2012

Barun sobti made his acting debut with the TV serial Shraddha on STAR Plus channel.

Barun then essayed the character of Dr Yuvraj Singh(Raj) in popular youth show Dill Mill Gayye, though left the show as he bagged a lead role in the serial Baat Hamari Pakki Hai.

In Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, which aired on Sony TV, Barun gained recognition and popularity as Shravan Jaisawal

Barun's last show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, which started on 6th June 2011, aired on STAR Plus where he is the lead opposite Sanaya Irani.

He made his acting debut with the family and faith oriented daily soap Shraddha on STAR Plus channel. It was his first major role on television wherein he played the male lead Swayam Khurana. His co-star was Neha Janpandit.
He later appeared in a cameo role in the popular teen television romance Dill Mill Gaye, where he played a negative role of patient Raj Singh, in rehabilitation for drug abuse. Sobti left the show as he got the opportunity to play the lead role in a show called Baat Hamari Pakki Hai to portray the character Shravan Jaiswal on the channel Sony TV, for which he got his first award show nomination.
After that, Sobti was offered the role of the male protagonist, Arnav Singh Raizada, in STAR Plus' Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?. The show first premiered on June 6th, 2011 and ended on November 30th, 2012. The show consistently maintained a position as one of the top ten daily dramas on Indian general entertainment channels throughout its first year on air. Sobti essayed the role of Arnav Singh Raizada, an uncouth business tycoon who does not believe in god or love until meeting his soulmate, Khushi Kumari Gupta.
Sobti decided, however to depart from the show due to health and personal conflicts. Therefore, due to millions of fans insisting and petitioning to keep the sanctity of the love story intact, the channel decided to end the show on a peaceful note with the actor's exit. The response from fans due to Sobti's exit was path breaking, leading to numerous formal announcements from the production house, the channel and the cast.
His on screen chemistry with Sanaya Irani has won him an international audience, numerable accolades, critical fame and has garnered him as a household name.
Barun Sobti has been given the title - "The Golden Boy of Indian Television".
