That's right folks!

The television industry's very own Mega Star, none other than our charismatic Gurmeet Choudhary, is celebrating his 29th birthday this Friday, the 22nd of February, so please join the party and shake your hips!

A brief biography on Gurmeet:

Gurmeet Sitaram Choudhary was born to a Bihari Bhumihar family in Chandigarh. His father, Sitaram Choudhary, was originally from Jairampur in Bihar, but being in the army he shifted his family to Chandigarh where Gurmeet was born. Gurmeet was raised in Srinagar, Jammu, Jabalpur, Badhgar, and quite a few other places as a result of his dad's army. As a child, Gurmeet studied in army schools and was brought up in a very disciplined manner. He had a passion for acting and dance even then, and during his youth he moved to Mumbai where he enrolled in Shiamak Davar's Dance Institute. Afterwards he took a few acting courses and realized that he definitely wanted to become an actor. With the support of his parents, he rented a flat in Mumbai and began looking for projects.

In 2004, Gurmeet met Debina Bonnerjee at a Sahara Bollywood Star Contest. She had come from Kolkata and he from Mumbai. Although neither of them won, they were staying in the same hotel with the other contestants and got to know each other. One day, Debina told Gurmeet that she was from Adarshnagar and he lied saying he was from there too, so they must get married one day. He was jesting with her but this conversation led to them becoming friends. Afterwards, they got to know each other well and began dating. In 2006, Gurmeet and Debina signed up for a Tamil fantasy series called Mayavi, where they played lead antagonists. This series became a hit in the South and was dubbed into Telugu and Malayalam as well.

In 2008, Gurmeet saw that Sagar Arts, a popular production house for mythological shows, was remaking Ramayan and he auditioned for the role of Lord Ram. He was chosen immediately for his gentle looks and Godly gait. Along with Debina Bonnerjee, who bagged the parallel lead role as Devi Sita, Gurmeet Choudhary created a niche for himself in the television industry as Lord Ram. The show became instantly popular and topped the TRP charts, while Hindu devotees all over India became so crazy about Lord Ram that they sent money to Gurmeet at the sets of Ramayan in Baroda, insisting it was "dakshin" for Ramji. Some fans even touched his feet out of respect. During Ramayan, Gurmeet won "Most Promising Male Actor" Award for 2008's New Talent Awards, and this show was dubbed into three other languages (Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam) and became a hit in the South.

After Ramayan in 2009, Gurmeet and Debina took part in a reality show called Pati Patni aur Woh. Here Gurmeet proposed marriage to Debina and she accepted. In 2010, Gurmeet was offered a lead role in Star One's Geet Hui Sabse Paraayi opposite his co-star, Drashti Dhami. Gurmeet played the role of Maan Singh Khurana and was widely accepted by the youth population. Along with Drashti Dhami, he won Zee Gold Awards "Best Celebrity Jodi and nominated for several others. Geet Hui Sabse Paraayi was a good opportunity for Gurmeet to display his talent as a gray-shaded character. He had already played a villain in Mayavi and a God in Ramayan, and MSK gave him a chance to explore further realms of his acting. In 2011, Gurmeet tied the knot with Debina on February 15th in a private ceremony at home attended by family and close friends. Later, he and Debina threw a large reception party for which all their friends and co-stars were invited.

During Geet Hui Sabse Paraayi, Gurmeet also did a short documentary movie on blood donation called Nayi Chetna, where he and Debina played a poor village couple who learned about the benefits of blood donation. In 2012, Gurmeet accepted the role of Yash Suraj Pratap Sindhia of Zee Tv's Punar Vivah, which he is still currently essaying. His co-star Kratika Sengar plays the parallel lead, Aarti Yash Sindhia. Yash has become widely accepted by youth and adults alike and Punar Vivah as a serial has become an instant hit with the audience. People love it for its unique concept and the entire cast and crew are appreciated for their good relationship and offscreen masti. Gurmeet and Kratika have won Zee Gold Awards "Best Celebrity Jodi" and Gurmeet also won Zee Rishtey Awards "Most Popular Male Face" award. Punar Vivah has received good ratings and is one of Zee TV's most popular shows!

From June of 2012 to October, Gurmeet participated in the dance reality show, Jhalak Dhikla Jaa - Season 5. With full support and encouragement from the cast and crew of Punar Vivah, Gurmeet was able to juggle the duties of two shows at once and after months of hard work, came out as winner of JDJ with his choreographer, Shampa Sonthalia! This was a very special moment not only for Gurmeet, but also for his fans who offered him unconditional support throughout the show. Last but not least, Gurmeet filmed a Punjabi movie during 2012 called Yaar Mera Rab Warga, which is still pending release. He played one of the main protagonists and fans are waiting eagerly to see the film.

Gurmeet has always been determined to play different roles in his career. No one role of his should be similar to the other, and this firm resolve along with undeniable talent is what has made him a success in the industry. All three of his popular roles, Lord Ram, Maan Singh Khurana, and Yash Sindhia, have contributed to his recognition in the television industry as one of the most talented and versatile actors!

In 2006, Gurmeet debuted as the lead negative character in Indian television's first 3D TV series,Mayavi, a Tamil language production by GV Films for Jaya TV which was later dubbed for the Telugu and Malayalam television audiences as well which won him a popular fan base in South India.

Mayavi was the first show in which Gurmeet Choudhary worked with his real life wife Debina Bonnerjee Choudhary The show mark as the beginning of their Love Life!

Gurmeet Choudhary played the lead role of Lord Rama and Lord Vishnu in Sagar Arts' Ramayan of NDTV Imagine. This show ran from January 21, 2008 to June 26, 2009 and achieved a high success rate among the mythological population. NDTV Imagine's Ramayan was a remake of the original TV series by Dr. Ramanand Sagar which first aired in 1986, and the new Ramayan aimed to bring the magic back on TV for a more technologically advanced generation.

The role of Lord Ram is not an easy one. For one, there is not much room for creative liberty and an actor must adhere to certain rules while playing the role. Lord Ram was an ever-smiling God who walked with a graceful gait and had an aura of peace and tranquility around him. He was also a valiant warrior who was agile in the battlefield and brought fear to his enemies. It is very difficult to portray both the peaceful and fierce persona of Lord Ram's character. Secondly, many actors both in the movie and TV industry have been playing this role since as early as the 1950s! Gurmeet had a lot to live up to when he signed the contract with Sagar Arts. He knew the entire mythological audience would be comparing him with previous actors who played the same role, and he also knew he would receive criticism for his work, both good and bad.

Still, Gurmeet gave his 100% to the role of Lord Ram and took training from Sagar Arts on how to walk and talk like God. His entire family has been devotees of Lord Ram and Devi Sita since a long time, so Gurmeet grew up hearing stories from the Ramayana. He was a small child when the original Ramayan teleseries was telecast, so he does not remember watching it, but throughout childhood he had gone to dramas and movies based on the Ramayana. By the time he was chosen to play Ram in Sagar Arts' Ramayan remake, he had a good idea what the role entailed but still he welcomed any criticism and practiced day and night to actually become Lord Ram for as long as Ramayan aired.

Another interesting fact is that Gurmeet was the first actor below the age of 25 to play Ram's character. In the past, older actors were chosen for the role to give Ram a more mature look, but Sagar Arts took a risky step by choosing a young actor to play the role. They wanted to cast an actor who fit the description of Lord Ram as given in the Hindu scriptures. Lord Ram was eternally youthful, handsome, and had a pleasing physical appearance. Despite the fact that the mythological audience tends to prefer older actors in the role, Gurmeet Choudhary was widely accepted by many people inspite of, or perhaps because of, his young age. It was refreshing to see an actor who resembled the God Ram as shown in paintings and temple idols. Flocks of people used to visit the sets of Sagar Arts in Baroda to meet Gurmeet. He received money as "dakshin" for Lord Ram, and some fanatical devotees even touched his feet before exams and interviews, believing they would get good luck.😆

Pati Patni Aur Woh was a reality show that was aired on NDTV Imagine from 28 Sept. 2009 - 4th December 2009 . The reality show was based on couples basically living a dummy of their own life managing their house, kids and grandparents throughout the show. The show had 5 couples as participants including Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee.

That time Gurmeet was dating his now wife Debina Bonnerjee and they did this reality show where they kinda lived their whole life in a short version.. They together handled all the responsibilities in the show and Gurmeet came out as that loving and extremely adorable person who is absolutely in love with Debina. That is when he absolutely got confirmed that he wants to be with Debina all his life.
Then, PPAW also witnessed one of Gurmeet's special moment when he proposed his wife Debina for marriage.

Nayi Chetna was a short film about blood donation By Rakesh Dubey. It starred Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee as the leads.
The story was as follows:
It is a story of a couple from a village, where the wife is pregnant and the couple goes to the hospital for a checkup. At the same time there comes an emergency case of a boy who urgently needs blood. The husband refuses to donate blood inspite of the wife insisting him to. After a few days the wife meets with an accident. She needs blood urgently and the husband now requests people of the village to donate blood but everybody refuses. And then' The films ends on a positive note.

Jhalak Dikhla Jaa was a dance reality show that was aired on COLORS channel from 16th June 2012 - 30th September 2012.
Gurmeet participated in the show along with his choreographer Shampa Sonthalia. Gurmeet though struggled with his dance performances in the first two weeks, he then visibly improved his skills and even scored full marks 5 TIMES throughout the show.

Here's the memory lane down to all his 30 scoring performances.. 😃

In Week 8, Gurmeet injured his shoulder while doing his martial arts performance due to which his marks reduced a bit for the next 2 3 weeks but he pulled back in the contest with his Week 12 Zouk performance.
Finally, on 30th September, he was announced as the winner of the reality show.

A girl running around to save herself from the goons and suddenly she bumps into a Man...Or I can say "Maan". 😉And yes those eyes said many words from the first scene of "GEET" Gurmeet Choudhary entered as a angry young man, with full on attitude.

A girl named GEET, asking him to help her from the goons but that man was least interested and walked off looking confidently straight onto her eyes.

And then came a scene where Geet is yelling for help as she was drowning. The man who just few mins ago gave so much attitude with his looks and denied to help her and save her from the goons, came right on time and saved GEET(Its too early to say His Geet😉😆)

LOL he saved Geet and we cant deny that but in that scenes he took life of so many girls who were watching. A HOT man came out of water aur woh bhi shirtless. OMG *Hides face, blushes*☺️☢️

And there we had a first MSK lifting Geet and rest was history😆😉

Maneet first office scene aur woh bhi geet landed straight in Maan Singh Khuranna's arms. And they were lost in each others eyes.

And when Maan was exploring Geet while she was sleeping that was for the very very first time we saw a little sweet smile on Maan singh khuranna's face.

Some of the office people used to all him DDC(Dhak Dhak khuranna) and he truely was a dhak dhak khuranna.

He was all lost in the beauty or we can say the beauty sleep of Geet. He slightly touches her hair which was coming on her face and then moves back and comes back to his rude behaviour.

Teri dewani .- 'Tune kya kar dala ..mar gai. .main .. mitt gai main. .ho gai main .. TERI DEWANI' *sigh* who wouldnt .. fall head over heels for a man like MAAN??? 😳 Trying to find peace..to anchor his heart.. which was starting to beat for a girl ..who was like none he had seen before!.. Maan was at the Nizamuddin Dargah.. n offering his prayers..! As peace and tranquility settled in...Geet found herself realising her love for him..! This surreal moment.. when Geet kept glancing at her Maan.. is etched in the minds of all..!! The look of peace on GCs face is drool worthy!

Pee loon - At a wedding.. Maan kept waiting.. to catch a glimpse of the lady..he had decided to tell .. he had started loving! 😳 'Pee loon tere hothon se shabnam' ..crooned n Maan took Geet in his arms and swooned..! A while later.. Maan took Geet to a beautiful center.. and professed.. ' I LOVE U' but Geet .. had something ..quite contrary to share! GCs eyes spoke volumes as he conveyed..Maan's love with passion ..!

Maneet Engagement .. A fake fiancee. .A fake Engagement.. REAL PEOPLE... REAL LOVE and finally .. REAL ENGAGEMENT... 👏 Maan and Geet started their journey to a beautiful future with love and joy in their hearts..! Maan without a word... owned up to be a protector ..a lover.. n a father.. for the mother n the child.. n declared to the world.. Geet is Mine..!! But alas.. the truth of Dev as Maans brother broke out.. n shattered the worlds of Maneet and their lovers..! From a happy man to a fractured one. GC emoted.. the transition of emotions with elan!

Wedding -- 'Main aaya hun lene tumhe.. zamano ko chodkar.. chalo sath mere basaye sitaro mein ghar' well when GC says those lines..to u.. u would know.. what u have to do.. SCREAM OUT A YES and RUN OFF with ur MaAN! 😳 Onscreen.. the dream wedding was finally on ...as Geet decked up to be with her Maan and Maan couldnt wait to make Geet his all..! A band not withstanding .. Maan rode to the venue with his jaan n made her HIS ..infront of all..!

Tragedy -- If life were a smooth journey..there wouldnt be memories.. so many! And thus.. Maneet met with tragedies.. galore... a baby loss.. a showdown .. a tycoon became a driver.. to woo his wife.. loss of power n loss of memory .. Maneet saw it all..! Making this journey simply unforgettable..was Gurmeet .. with his dedication ..n passion in it all..!

Ending -- Every great story ..has a greater ending.. n on 14th December,2011 when the curtains started to fall ... Maneet were parents.. welcoming a bundle of joy .. and the final words..were spoken by the Man.. who had stolen the hearts of all ... ❤️

I started following Gurmeet when I saw him in Punar Vivah. I thought he was an absolutely handsome actor and he portrayed his character perfectly. He delivered every dialouge with ease and perfection. He had the most expressive eyes and a great personality as everyone could see from his interviews. Well I watched Gurmeets performance in 'Ramayan' and simply loved his acting, how ever when Geet came out I fell in love with our 'MSK' and that was when I first fully began to follow him as a fan and now I am fully supporting him in Punar Vivah.

Obviously he is extremely good looking 😳 but I think the sincerity he has, in interviews and other platforms where he is just Gurmeet he is so sincere and generous, I am honestly left mesmerised because I love the fact he does not let fame get to his had. I started following Gurmeet since 2008, when Ramayan aired. Blown away by his performance as Shri Ram, I've been following him ever since.😃

His eyes...😳 I really feel his eyes emote so much expression. During Ramayan times, fans used to refer to him asKamalnayan (lotus-eyed one), which is another name for Lord Ram/Lord Vishnu. This nickname is perfect for Gurmeet because his eyes are so expressive and beautiful.

3 -Another Versatile Role For Gurmeet :After Punar Vivah, what are the roles do you want Gurmeet Choundry to do?

I would really love to see Gurmeet in another mythological role, especially in Mahabharat. I would love to see him as a gray-shaded character like Karna or a warrior-type character like Arjun. I would also not mind if he played God again as Lord Krishna.

In general, Gurmeet has a golden personality and that is what I like most about him, even more than his acting.

I was just flicking through the channels on the tv and it landed on star one.. & at that time Geet was showing.. I watched that episode and it was on episode 122.. I then watched all the 121 episodes in one night and from that day on wards I just followed Gurmeet and also stalked him for his previous shows and achievements..
