Villagers interest in mithvi wedding

I think the villagers are interested in Meera and Prithvi marriage because in any village marriage is a big thing. Child marriage is even a bigger issue. Marriage concerns the rituals that are practiced in the village. If as the sarpanch's daughter, Meera herself do not abide the rules and rituals of the village who else will follow? The rituals would not be taken seriously and the name and honour of the village would be tarnished. I think for these reasons the villagers were very much interested in Meera and Prithvi marriage. As they have said too, it is the rule of panchayat. If the head do not follow the orders of the panchayat, who in the village would abide the panchayat?
