Chapter 5-
"Ok now, I would like you guys to place both your hands in your partner's hands and look into their eyes."
Sharon turned pale. Her face went blank .
"Rey, I love you I really do.I am ready to forget all this ever happened. I won't give it a second thought.Just tell me you love me. Everyone makes mistakes and you made one today. We can correct this, please. Please, Rey." She was saying, looking at him anxiously, with desperate eyes.
He refused to meet her eyes. She stretched her right hand out, to touch his right arm.
He slapped her hand away forcefully and roughly pushed her away from him.
"Stop it ok! I love you more than that b****ever will! How could you kiss her like that!! You can't do this to me! You can't! You can't!" She began screaming, swinging her arms around wildly, trying to hit him. Maybe, she felt, that hit would bring him back to his senses.
"This is all a result of the alcohol you consumed tonight!You're hallucinating!! You love me! You think you love her but you don't!" She continued screaming at him.
He avoided her, pretending as if she didn't not exist.
Her arm hit him smack in the chest.
He grabbed her arms and pushed her towards the wall. His eyes were now on her and they were red, blazing with anger.
"Listen to me. And listen carefully because I won't be repeating. I don't love you Sharon. I love Anusha. This marriage is a mistake, get itI don't wanna hurt you but you are forcing me to do!" Rey's voice was initially normal but the volume increased as he spoke. "I am not happy with you! Only she can make me happy not you! And what I did today was not because of alcohol I love Anusha! You get it?! Well you don't have a choice.!"
His loud voice and threatening body language scared her. But her love for him had blinded her completely.
"Rey, I c-can see l-love in your eyes..Love for me. I can see it." She said, shaking silently. Her voice quivered but she looked straight into his eyes. " Look at me! Look into my eyes. You'll find so much love there for you. More than that psycho Anusha can-"
"Shut up Sharon! You dare not speak a word against her! Your eyes must be having a problem if they see love for you in my eyes! Actually your eyes are not the problem, you are the problem! You're so freaking insecure! " He banged his hand on the wall hard.
"Aargh!" He shouted, the pain gushing through his body aggravated his anger. "You know what Sharon? You are not the problem..It's me! I was the idiot who fell in love with you! You're not at fault here! I am! So I think it's better if you stay away from a person like me! Okay?"
Sharon burst into tears. Rey let go of her, picked up his jacket and walked out of the house. He didn't try to comfort her, apologise, nothing. He just walked out of the room, probably to meet his Anusha.
Sharon ran into their room and jumped on the bed. She began sobbing uncontrollably. That one detour to the bathroom, it had changed her whole relationship. Had she decided to stay put at their table , she would not have seen her husband kissing his colleague passionately.
She loved him so much. She had done everything to save their marriage. How could he do this to her?
She kept crying, pinching herself,praying fervently that this was just a nightmare and she would wake up any minute,greeted by Rey's face beside her on the bed.
His words rushed through her mind. She screamed, trying to block those words out.
His red eyes, hostile and angry , hovered above her face. She couldn't erase that image from her mind.
"Stop it! Stop it!!" She screamed aloud to an empty room.
She picked up the nearest pillow and slammed it into her face, trying to block out the noise.
That kiss, his hand on her back, she pulling his hair, those freaking images passed again and again through her mind.
Suddenly those images stopped flashing. Now other images started flashing. Rey pushing her, thrusting her against the wall, slapping her hand away.
The tears were gone. Now there was anger.Insane anger.
How could he do this to her? How could he do this to Sharon Rai Prakash? Who was that Anusha in front of her? A
She picked up her phone and speed-dialed her mother.
"Mom, I'm coming home. Please don't ask any questions.I am fine.I'll be there in half an hour or so" She said bluntly into the phone.
"Sharon,dear, it's 11! Is there something wrong?? Her mom asked in a frantic voice.
"I am coming Mom.Bye"
"Shar-" The call had already been cut.
She picked up her jacket, took her car keys and walked out of the house.
"Sharon? Sharon? Are you ok?! Sharon! " Swayam was looking at her with a concerned expression.
She seemed to be looking in his direction, but not at him.
A loud voice boomed, dragging her out of her thoughts."If anyone is uncomfortable doing this exercise with their partners, let me know. I will give you another partner."
Sharon heard this.
She looked at the instructor. He saw her looking at him and walked over to the duo. He bent down next to Sharon.
"Is there anything wrong?" He said politely, first looking at Sharon and then looking questioningly at Swayam.
Swayam had a shocked I-didn't do-anything-pinky-swear expression on his face.
Sharon couldn't help but smile at his cute expression. He looked so adorable, like a little boy. A little boy wearing formals, that is.
He's better than somebody else, She thought.
"No everything's fine. I was just waiting for you to give the instructions." She said.
"Ok.." Manish said uncertainly.
Sharon grabbed Swayam's hands and placed her hands in them
A shiver passed down Swayam's back.
He looked straight into Sharon's eyes and drowned in them.
