So will it or will it not? 😆

So far, these are the figures for ETT:

Domestic

Ek Tha Tiger had a bumper opening, with 100% occupancy at both multiplexes and single screens and it has shattered records all over by recording capacity on the widest release ever and collected around INR32.23 crore (US$5.83 million) on its first day. Its a 40% jump from the previous record which was INR22 crore (US$3.98 million)nett approx set by Agneepath (2012).[59][60] It fell in the single screens across India on its second day and collected around INR14.50 crore (US$2.62 million).[61]Ek Tha Tiger fell further on its third day and collected around INR12.12 crore (US$2.19 million) thus taken its three days total to INR57.85 crore (US$10.47 million) which is a new record for the weekend.[2] On the fourth day, Saturday, Ek Tha Tiger collected 16.75 crore nett, taking its total to 77.1 crore nett[62]

References for the each of the figures are cited.

While for 3 Idiots:

These were the figures:

So will ETT break 3 Idiots' record?

Does it deserve to?

I think not because 3 Idiots held a universal appeal, it was well liked by the young and the old...teachers, students, parents, Indians and Asians. Most people could connect to the sentiment, it had a message. But ETT does not seem to hold the same appeal to sustain long-term. Sure, it had a phenomenal, record breaking opening but will it sustain to draw in enough moolah and break 3Idiots' record?

What do YOU think?

There is absolutely no way ETT will break 3 Idiots record. Those who think it will are deluding themselves.

Even people who like Salman are criticising this movie. By midweek, ETT is gonna fizzle out.

It's very likely to.. against my wishes 😆

I don't know though. The kidna appeal that 3 Idiots had.. I haven't seen anything like it before.
People frmo my high school, in freaking PHILIPPINES, used to talk about 3 Idiots. And let me tell you, the Philippines for some reason has a skewed view about Bwood... so this was quite a feat.
My friend from a local uni here told me that one of their professors showed their ENTIRE class 3 Idiots for some lesson lol

This movie had loads and loads of universal appeal... this was definitely a movie that, as you said, people of all age levels could enjoy.. it's just such a big feel-good film.

I haven't seen ETT... but I can't imagine any movie so far, other than3I, creating the kind of gajabaja that it did.

WOW I must say

the producers of ETT were EXTREMELY smart with their planning.
They released their movie on a festive weekday, and knowing that Salman's movies make loads of money, they took advantage of the starpower and let the release date garner as many earnings as possible.

Then came the WEEKEND! haha and obviously sales are gonna be high on the weekend.
Plus not to mention the hike in the ticket price...

awesome awesome awesome planning, honestly, kudos to whoever was in charge of all of this.

It is the ONLY Indian movie that has this official title of the biggest hit till date even in Guinness book of world record, having adjusted net distributors' share and everything that no film (even sholay) can touch till today, let alone a 31, ddlj or any other movie.

Even Srk's biggest chamcha karan Johar admitted this in Jhalak Dikhlaja 19 aug's episode and clealry stated that HAHK is STILL the ACTUAL biggest hit of the hindi cinema's history.

Now don't start fighting me over this... its all on the official record.
Do a bit of search, consult guinness book, komal nahata's authetic trade journals and the official printed Boxoffice journals and u'll get the same answer from everywhere.

😊

Would you please post some source links too?

Rach, before it released I thought it would beat 3 Idiots' record but now I don't think so. Apparently, the collection has dipped and negative word of mouth has spread. Only the opening was thunderous...which is not surprising at all obviously...from what I have read.

have some patience and do wait for the next three days of Eid (the actual festival for which the film was released for)

and no its NOT THAT OBVIOUS.
just go back in history and see what happened with tees maar khan, despite of all OBVIOUSNESS, farah khan's super success record, a huge huge promotion, and a whole international vacation occasion of Christmas, holidays and new year... a kinda holiday of whole one week.

:)

No one is jumping to any conclusions. People are just voting on the poll and giving their opinion based on what they think. No one has seen the future so the verdict could go either way in the next few days.

No I don't have any obligation for anyone.
if u can't trust someone words, then its fine with me... never mind.

When you dont believe that Sallu ran over innocent people sleeping on the road, which was published in newspaper then why should I trust your claim.
