While there were several names such as Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Imran Khan doing the rounds, sources reveal that it is the dishy television turned film actor Sushant SinghRajput (famous for playing Manav in Zee TV's hit serial Pavitra Rishta) who has managed to bag the role in Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming two-hero project, P.K.
While Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma have already signed the prestigious project, speculations have been rife about who would play the parallel lead in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production.
Meanwhile, Sushant is currently busy wrapping up Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che (based on Chetan Bhagat's novel - The 3 Mistakes of My Life) in which he is playing the lead. "After he finishes shooting for it in a couple of months, he will focus entirely on P.K." says the source. However the spokesperson for the film maintained that the actor has not been finalised as yet.
Sushant refused to comment and remains tight-lipped about any of the project and his film career as well. It may be recalled that Sushant broke several hearts when he quit Pavitra Rishtadue to his disagreement on the 18-year-leap. Since then we've not heard much about him but now we can actually confirm that the actor has been busy with his film career.
In Kai Po Che, directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Sushant is essaying one of the three main characters along with fellow telly actor Amit Sadh and Ragini MMS actor Raj Kumar Yadav. And if rumours are to be believed, the producers have approached Australian cricketer Shaun Tait for their film. Since cricket is an integral part of the film, there is a need to cast a prominent international cricketer, says the source.
As per reports, the makers have already roped in Indian bowler Ashish Nehra to coach Sushant, and it is Ashish who put them in touch with Shaun.
