We have seen him juggle many hats , be it acting or singing. Fans will now get to see him on Colors 'Uttaran' where he now plays ' Veer Singh Bundela'.We have not regularly seen you on television for the past two years. What have you been upto?
I did a little TV. I started my own production company and produced 6 non fiction shows. I also participated in a musical reality show - Star ya Rockstar. So , I have been around.
You will now be playing Veer Singh Bundela. Are you excited?
Absolutely. It is a very powerful role and the show is great. Uttaran has done so well over the past few years and Colors also is a fantastic channel. His character will now have more poise and maturity.
You will be playing an older character in Uttaran. Did this leap bother you?
I dont think age is a criterion when you pick a role. The role should be meaty and that is all that counts. When Anil Kapoor decided to do Lamhe ,I'm sure it was the role that mattered to him. It is important to portray a powerful character.
Any role that you would categorize as your dream role.
I think Al Pacino or Marlon Brando's role in 'Godfather'. That is any actor's dream role.
You are both - Singer and Actor. What are you more comfortable doing?
I love doing both. I do my riyaaz in the morning. For me that is meditation. I feel blessed that I can sing. Acting is my career.
How do you spend your day?
I try and squeeze in many activities. I go to the gym in the morning. I also have a school called 'Windchimes' in Bandra. I spend an hour there everyday and then head to my production company. The days I'm shooting , I try and divide my time equally.
Who is your best critic?
My daughter , Sanchi ! She is 12 years old and she is one voracious reader. When I cam home donning Veer's avatar , so could not help laughing.
You have two kids. Do they want to follow in their father's footsteps?
Sanchi wants to be an architect. The planning and designing of buildings really interests her. My son, Veer is only 6 years old. He accompanies me to the shoot and says he wants to be a singer. I think it is early to take a call!
What is your favorite holiday destination?
I love Goa ! The convenience of half an hour flight is just fabulous. So spend three days in Goa and you feel rejuvenated. My family is sick of the place though (Laughs)
What is your most prized possession?
My Family ! I love my parents , wife and my kids. I have a very close set of friends who I'm very attached to. I think with change you realize it is not the quantity but the quality of relationships that matter. I'm extremely close to my mother. She is my spiritual guru.
