NEW DELHI: Political celebrities won't keep their date at the Mehboob studio in Mumbai on Monday, where they and their wives were to vie for the title Jodi Kamal Ki.
It's the new interactive game show on Star Plus which replaces Kaun Banega Karorpati anchored by Amitabh Bachchan.

Former union minister Syed Shanawaz Hussain and his wife Renu, Congress MP Rajeev Shukla and his wife Anuradha Prasad, industrialist-turned-Congress MP Navin Jindal and his wife sent their regrets to the organisers citing one pretext or the other.

Rajiv Shukla and Navin Jindal expressed their inability to make it to the shoot and Shahnawaz Hussain dropped out at the last minute citing his wife's illness.
Whether they would like to reschedule the shoot is not known yet.

The programme, anchored by soap star Rakshanda Khan, is slated to be on air on March 4 at prime time 9 pm, which is the same time as KBC was aired.

The organiser for the show, Creative Eye, has been successful in roping another political celebrity, former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha and his wife, who attended the shoot with film producer Mahesh Bhatt and another Bollywood personality.

It is also features top cricketers of yesteryears - Srikanth, Mohinder Amarnath and Syed Kirmani and and their partners must get through a test of how intimately the couples know each other and how much of the best and supposedly memorable moments they remember thus far.

Dheeraj Kumar, the producer of the show is very excited about the programme he is producing. He said, "We have celebrity guests from different walks of life. It's not a talk or chat show but an interactive show, which the viewers would find very interesting. The undercurrent theme of the programme is that you may be a celebrity but how well do you know each other?

How many small details do both he and she remember, like what suit he wore at the wedding? Also, like on the happiest and saddest moment, the husband could begin and wife could finish. Then there would be game shows where three celebrity couples would be competing against each other."

"Did you know a person like Yashwant Sinha, who is a great achiever making it to the post of Finance Minister, was such a great husband? He could even clean the utensils, to the surprise of his wife. Particularly if the place is Frankfurt and if the couple were hosting a party of around 100 guests", Kumar said.

The winner of the three competing couples receives a gift hamper.
