As expected ShahRukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee walked away with two of the show's top gongs for their performances in Swades and Hum Tum respectively (pictured). ShahRukh won the Best Actor award and Rani the best Best Actress. Last year's huge hit Veer Zaara also won top prize for Best Film. Romantic comedy Hum Tum's director Kunal Kohli grabbed the award for Best Director.

Rekha at the FilmfaresA big surprise winner of the night was the movie Yuva, which won the most awards- an amazing six! Followed by Hum Tum with five and Veer Zaara with four.

The awards, this year, celebrating their 50th year in a glittering ceremony took place at MMRDA grounds in Mumbai earlier today.

Bollywood's best and brightest — Dev Anand, Sharmila Tagore, Shammi Kapoor, Rekha (pictured), Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Shatrugan Sinha, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Kajol, Mahima Chowdhury, Manisha Koirala, Kareena Kapoor — were all part of the audience thronging the venue, as were political heavyweights like Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

i know it was a completely awesome show ands the winners do deserve it but one thing they didnt show shahid and vivek😡😭

I didn't get one thing though.. When Priyanka had already won the award for the best actor in a villionous role, why was she nominated for the role in the supporting actress category too 😕

It was a good show indeed.. but the hightlight was definitely when Abhishek brought his father along with him.. very touching moment indeed..

Honestly, I was not impressed by the show except for SRK's performance. I saw it after 10 yrs now, but I can say that the awards shown 10 yrs back were far much better in terms of performances by the artists.

Sonu Nigam just hurried thru the songs, specially Chaiya Chaiya (he sung it really badly) and that was the worst part of the show..thats what me and my friends felt..
