Voice of Audience - Fans Demand to See DMG and Karan and Shilpa Together
It all started 4 years back. 20th August 2007 8 p.m IST on Star One Channel. Any guesses?
Yes we are talking about Dill Mill Gayye famous Star One Show. A youth based show on the lives of medical interns working at a hospital. So what was so special about it that it was catapulted to such heights. The starcast was relatively unknown in the form of Karan Singh Grover and Shilpa Anand as the main lead.
Before the month was out the show was a hit and the actors who played the main lead i.e., Armaan and Ridhima had become the heart throb of millions. The actors behind the famous AR chemistry were KSG and Shilpa Anand famously known as KaSh together. The Indian television saw the rise of two new stars with their craze increasing everyday.
Such was their charisma that when bollywood songs were used in the show, the songs became synonymous with them. The famous "Zara zara touch me" song of Katrina Kaif is also long remembered for Shilpa Anand and KSG enactment.
The show saw Shilpa Anand leaving and another actress coming up to play the role of Ridhima. Millions of fans were distraught with her leaving but that did not lessen the fan following of KaSh as their fans lovingly called them. Then started the era of KaSh craze, their fans started calling themselves the KaShians. Lack of acceptance of the new actress in the role of Ridhima led to the actress replacement by another actress.
Meanwhile the demands for recalling Shilap Anand were sky high. Entertainment websites and forums were flooded by demands for her even though it had almost been a year since she had left the show. Even though with a divided fan base due to favorites in the actors being paired opposite KSG, it cannot be denied that the best phase of the serial was during the KaSh phase. The story line, the way the scenes were shot were all on a different level as compared to what happened afterwards.
Especially with the start of season 2 with no Armaan Ridhima, the show plummeted. Even the re-entry of Ridhima and Armaan was not enough to bring back the viewers as the creative's had brought in a twist with ridhima getting married to Sid. With Ridhima accepting her marriage and choosing her husband over armaan the creative's played their best hand in the form of bringing back Shilpa Anand in the guise of Dr. Shilpa.
The fans went hysterical! After a wait of 2 years the much awaited KaSh was going to be back on small screen. It was a first for an actor to make a comeback in the same show they had left as a new character. The same chemistry was back, intense eye locks, but what was better was the role reversal.
This time around Shilpa was the one head over heels while armaan had to be convinced as he was trying to get over ridhima. The possibilities were unlimited but just when things were going to get better, the show got axed but before that story took a 360 turn.
The fans screamed bloody murder with Shilpa Anand again leaving the show. The show ended in October 2010 amidst rumours of a possible season 3 coming up. More than half a year had passed but the demands for bringing back KaSh have only increased. With every rumour the craze keeps on building, take any social networking site, all of them are flooded with demands for KaSh.
Will DMG come back with a new season remains to be seen but the all important question is will the fans be treated to seeing KaSh onscreen. With KSG and SA now entering bollywood, hopes of getting paired together possibly in a movie are also surfacing.
What's astounding is that in the aftermath of the KaSh craze has given rise to a number of amateur writers from around the world who weave stories specifically around them. Look up any entertainment site e.g. IF, where there is a section for fan fiction even after almost an year of DMG ending and no KaSh for even longer the number of stories featuring them as the main protagonist is just mind blowing.
Let's see who cashes in on a confirmed win-win situation by signing up KaSh. So the race starts, ready, steady, go'.
