Okay... so i am HOPELESSLY confused... i JUST do not get this trio who seem to form some sort of weird menage a trois... Just when I think i have it all figured out, the CVs throw out YET another bouncer...
Starting at the top, different scenarios and scenes that all pointed in different directions... and gave different perspectives & characters of the people involved... Sample this...

1. Priya meets Ashwin at Laughter Club... tense silence, Priya brusque, Ashwin sheepish... we are told he was her 'ex-flame-almost-fiance-who-then-married-her-friend'...
The ring was ready so friends and families obviously knew, he was involved enough to feel guilty at her pain...a close enough friend MUST have known that she was deeply involved with this guy... yet she goes ahead and married him instead...
Clearly the friend was a right 'stab-in-the-back' because of who both Ashwin & Priya suffered... Relations are strained to the point that Priya and her family dont even want to talk to Ashwin and slam the door on his face...

2. Priya suffers yet another broken off engagement and Ashwin makes his move... the guilty ex-flame who just wants Priya to move on and be happy now turns into a slimeball who was just biding his time. Happy in the knowledge that Priya is now fodder for scandal-mongers (with 2 broken engagements & an age well above 30), he actually dares to think she would be only too grateful to accept being his keep.
Clearly now, the poor friend is the aggrieved wife who doesnt know about Ashwin-Priya's past... she still maintains excellent relations with Priya and is an active & enthusiastic participant in the marriage celebrations to the point of teaching her how to cook chicken for Mr. Ram Kapoor.

3. Ashwin, after all the irritation at RaYa, wants to take part in the celebrations... As if he never imposed upon Priya or wished that she stayed single... Shipra will have none of it and angrily yells at Shruti to keep this 'panauti' away from her daughter's wedding... Shruti, though upset, unquestioningly agrees to do it since it is Priya's day...
Clearly now, Shruti knew all along the history between Ashwin-Priya, the failed engagement that apparently she was the cause of, the tension between the families since she doesnt question Shipra's order...

So... What gives???
If the best friend remains the best friend... and the bad guy remains the bad guy... why did the best friend marry the bad guy despite knowing the history...? Does SHE view her marriage with Ashwin as a compromise too (like Ashwin does) or is this a genuine case of love that couldnt be helped? Where does Priya come in all of this?
If ANYONE understands the bigger picture of this sordid relationship, can they PLEASE explain it to me? 😕😕😕😕😕
