The level of JD is just 2 low and the only few good dancers in the show r ankan and abhash (maybe also rajit)... The others r just average but always get overrated...

And even though the show's title is "just dance", the judges and audience do not look at the dance part or difficulty of the dance but rather how well the expressions were and if the story/concept made them think of a story of their own?They should rather concern about the actual dance.

I also feel that the judges only find contemporary-acts superb and only the contestens who do those acts r winning the swift-performer-title just because of the emotions u get because of the concept/story in the act... And when u r doin MJ u cannot become swiift-performer because in such act there can't be the same kind of concepts, here it is really about JUST DANCE, but that is obviously not what the judges r lookin for :/

Despite these facts the show entertains, but if u r lookin for some real level of dance, then u should rather watch DID because both DID season 1 and 2 had a standart and even DID lil masters had a level and could perform better than JD!!!!!

JD has background-dancers and 2 many stuff goin on, when it is really about only dance?!

in my opinion, the expressions are the main factor in dane cuz if u dance with a plain face obv u might think its boring n what the heck is the person doing and all that stuff..cuz emotions are major factor that help in emoting the dance ...plus i think the judges do talk about how the dances go...cuz theree are many incidents they talked about for ex swarali in the aerial one where her toe fingers werent pointed correctly KK (khanna) he hunches a lot and need s to focus on his traps n neck kruti cuz she couldnt sit fully in bharatnatyam as u need to sit fully in bharatnatyam ankan cuz his spins werent good etc...i think u should rewatch the epis of just dance where they tell feedback to contestants...and who told u the find contemporary amazing...they liked kp n soumita's kathak...jazz...lindy hop...ballet...aerial acts...etc amaing...i agree DID was a good show...but jd is no less...either u are watching the show in the middle or something

Whatever u say, the level is 2 low.

I have never seen somebody just being FULLY blank while dancing? That would be weird? And no pro does that.

I know expressions r important, but dance comes first... and i just hate, when a concept is kinda sad then they make a lot of melodrama and overrate the performance.

Emotional dance act => melodrama => overrated performance

sorry to say...but i totally disagree with u...if the judges only judge contestants on their concept then karan khanna's concept was truly heart touching..his dance form was contemporary...n his expressions were also good...but he wasn't selected for the top 3...

i don't think like that at all...in fact i think in a totally different way...

n plz don't compare the shows...i think that jd dancers are well trained, versatile and fab...

one good performance must contain dance,feel,concept,expressions,grace etc...dance is not only to move our legs n hands according to rhythm n music ri8...my intention is not to prove u wrong or something ...i'm just expressing my disagreement...that's it...

I agree to some extent, the level is quite below expectation and it has nothing to do with the dancers. the raw material, ie the dancers are quite talented, they are not bieng gromed properly, trained or made to push their boundaries. Most of the time i see soumita doing Classical based performance,(except the top 13 selection where everyone had to do something different), even then her movements and turns are quite repetitive. whatever meher malik does, she manages to make it belly dance. Kruti, i will give her props for trying something as different as ballet and bharatnatyam, even if it doesnt pay off. Ankan probably is the only one to attempt different dance forms and dance styles so far, trying tp push it.

The judges are a huge disappointment, it seems both farah and VM has lost their touch, i have seen them judging other shows where they were quite strict and concentrated on acting, dancing, expressions, technique, but here i feel they let people go off a little too easily. As awesome dancer as Hritik is, i think he is a total feel good factor here in JD.

the biggest problem are the choreographers, They either r not coming up with good ideas, or are not pushing the contestants.I feel they are not extracting good enough performance from the contestant, the whole motvation aspect lies with and only with the contestant alone.

and i agree with topic opener, with too many background dancers, it often becomes a little difficult to focus on the contestant, specially when the back ground dancers are sometimes equally good( case in point: the two dancers in saffron and white robe in rajit's performance maula mere),We should give more focus to the participants, And if they are good enough, they alone can occupy the whole of the stage.

PS: Since everyone compains the forum is dead, i opened a performance analysis thread, and raj has made it a sticky,it would be nice if you can discuss the performances in that thread.

I also believe the dancers r really talented, but not many have succeeded in showing what they r capable of and the reason behind is specially the choreographers, who r giving 2 easy acts :/ And yeah some of the contestants always do the same including meher. They should understand that nobody wants to see the same over and over.

Also agree with that there should be more focus on the contestant, so they should reduce the part with backgroun dancers etc.

I am not saying that the judges only judge contestants on their concepts, BUT Mostly(not always) they overrate the performance, when it is an emotional one.

I also never said that the dancers r bad. I actually feel they r talented, but r not given the opportunity 2 show all what they got becuz of the easy acts given by the choreographers.

I know the dancers r good, but we do not know how good they r yet. And u say they re versatile, but we have not seen that from many dancers yet, most of them do the same everytime.

I agree to a certain extent as well... I DO feel that the level is low, not as much as I had
expected it to be. After this weeks performance I was highly disappointed in many of the
dancers for doing the type of dance that is their forte. Shomita really does not show her
versitality and is never taking risks, the same with Meher. Even though meher does try
as she is working on her footing, I feel many of the dancers are just being placed easily
and are overrated. Also they said Ankan set his own standards, but shouldnt the others
go up to the same level then? You cant just say to one person that this isnt good while
the other one does the same thing and you let them go... I feel that is unfair.
Swarali is doing good but she's not getting any credit, also Karan I felt was really good as
well.
Now coming to the part of story/concept/expressions...those things are PART of dancing...
dancing isnt just moving your arms n legs. Expressions are like the soul in a body.
For the judges, I feel that not all the performances were THAT wowing.. some were really plain
boring... I have seen Farah n Vaibhavi judge n believe me even I feel wat has gotten into them?

yea me too felt d level z bit low now...
initially @audition time i thot d judges r too choosy...only few trained dancers r selected...
bt 4m last 2 weeks i dint fingd any magic...
though yestday epi ws very gud..i m touched...
lack of dance might b d choreographer's fault...we cant blame only contestants ...
it's even annoying wen Farah Khan says it's 1st time on indian TV...
sorry,i m not comparing bt i've seen some better performance in DID...

i think d dancers r much talented...they need gud choreography...
one bad choreo put Ankan in danger..n yea judges shud judge on d basis of daance plus expression...
