Stars of Indian soap to perform in SA
Mar 26, 2011 4:05 PM | By OWN CORRESPONDENTPopular Indian soapie stars Sushant Singh and Ankita Lokhande are headed for South Africa.
The actors who, play Manav and Archana in the award-winning television serial Pavitra Rishta - which is broadcast on Zee TV - will appear with Indian playback singer and stage artist Kunal Ganjawala.
The concert, organised by Showtime SA (ST) and the SHM Group of companies of Johannesburg, will be staged in Johannesburg and Durban in July.
ST's Mike Narsey said they were "thrilled" to be hosting the show featuring the "biggest names in Indian day-time soaps" together with an artist of Ganjawala's calibre.
Narsey said their research had shown that the serial's main actors were very popular in SA.
Both actors have just concluded filming a dance show for television, while Singh has also participated in a reality dance show with a host of other Indian television actors.
Ganjawala will be returning to South Africa after five years.
He started his Bollywood singing career in 1995 and released his own pop album, Channa Vey, in 2004.
Narsey said: "We believe the industry tries to ensure that the family element is maintained."
The artists have already performed in concerts in the USA, the UK, Australia, the Middle East and the West Indies.
