Hi Debate Mansion Members!!!

1) Sexist Attacks

Recently people have been postin some very nasty and unfriendly debates which contained some sexist remarks to both men and women pls do rember that every one on this forum is equal and has an equal rite to bein here and ple avoid postin such posts in which people may find offendin to thier gender.

Also often while debating we forget our basic manners and address strangers on the net as "dear", "honey", "sweatheart" IN A DEBATE........and many other terms of endearment that should be reserved for some one you know well . One stranger calling another stranger , "honey" not just sounds patronozing but sexist . Please remember to use these terms ONLY if you know the member through PM.

Racist Attacks

Due to some recent events in this section that caused the otherwise friendly enviormenent to become hostile temporarily . I am posting a few suggestions .

To maintain a conducive , healthy and friendly environment within us debaters we need to consider other members feelings and religous outlook and ethnic beliefs.

https://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4420

Do not use racial , sexist , homophobic slurs against the members.Insults directed against a member will be edited or deleted.Failure to follow the rules could result in a warning or even a ban.

2) Use PM's for private discussions and please do not chat on  a debate.

3)Give credit to the source, and link to it if possible. Failure to do so is plagiarism, and will lead to discipline. If the subject page or study is available online, just post a blurb in pertinent part, then link to it.

Please respect copyrights, and don't post something that is copyrighted without permission.

4)Spamming and Advertising of any sort is not permited .The message will be deleted and a warning sent .

For the new members i'd like to repeat a few pointers !!😊

1) Before posting a new topic -

a)please check and see the archives if that topic has been covered before or not . You could do this by clicking on search and entering the "keyword".
example if the topic you want to post is" pre-marital sex". You could search the word"sex" and it will broaden the range .The topic you want could be under teanage sex or sex before marriage !!  Also if the word is euthanasia . search  "euthanasia and mercy killing " both !

If that topic has been covered before , you may be interested in reading the views and posting there . You will see the moment you respond to a post thats say on page 7 , that post will automatically move to the 1st page . So people can re - open that subject and discuss it again .

b) If you could sum up in a few words exactly what the topic is in the subject box - you are likely to get more responses.

c) When posting a new subject - please add your opinion and leave it for the other members to agree or disagree. BUT PLEASE PLEASE BE OPEN TO CONTRADICTIONS !!!!!

2)When responding to someone's post please follow the guidelines and basic etiquttes and courtesies used in the cyber world .

While debating , please don't forget that its different views that makes this world a interesting place .So be open to listen to views , and others point of views............even if you disagree .

Please use the "quote" button for quoting some one . And quote some one in good faith and do not change or edit the meaning of the persons quote .

a)For a healthy and interesting debate please make your comments constructive, related to the subject , devoid of profanity, personal attacks etc.

b). While responding to a topic please remember do not post one line comments . example - i agree , interesting topic . Make sure these comments are followed by an explanations .

c)Also smileys make a post interesting ..BUT have no meaning when you post a single smiley without words that express your thoughts .While smileys are usefull to convey if you are being serious about a comment or you are kidding . So feel free to use smiley but sensibily !

d) Personal attacks - while posting a response many of you , often use words like "you" in reference to a member . As long as its not attacking your fellow debators beliefs its fine . But the moment you point fingers as if in a accusation , it makes the enviorment more hostile and aggresive !!

e)  Please don't type in CAPS LOCK (all capital letters), its referred to shouting on the internet and makes posts, hard to read.

f)If a topic, or member becomes a bit too much for the limits of civility we all hold, remember there is a way to avoid looking like a part of the problem.....just dont reply. We all have limits to what we can take before cracking and lashing out, the key is to KNOW these limits, and allow ourselves to cool down.
