Prologue
*~*~*
Life
was interesting, life was unexpected, and life was a rollercoaster. Life…was
life.
Everyone's
life was shaped by decisions and situations that they had to handle. No two
people faced the same situations in life, no two people made the same decisions
in life. It truly was 'to each his own' out there in life.
Some
people received things they wanted without asking. Some people received things
they wanted after much prayer. Some people, no matter how much they prayed,
never received what they wanted. Yet again some people, received things they
never asked for.
Take
having children for example.
How
many couples were out there who had simply talked about having a child and
then, as if God had been listening in that particular day, they were blessed
with that miracle? How many couples out there prayed and prayed for that
blessing, to take their relationship and love to the next level, but were never
granted as such by the higher powers? How many couples had prayed and prayed
for that blessing and after what seemed like forever, they were granted that
blessing? How many couples were out there who had never thought about having
children or wanted children, yet they found themselves at the opposite end of a
positive pregnancy test?
Hundreds…thousands…even
hundreds of thousands of couples were out there, each falling into a different
category.
Lucky
for Geet, she fell into the group that prayed for their miracle. She'd prayed
like she had never prayed before to have a child – her Maan's child. After
being married for two years, they had decided to start a family. How hard could
it be? Or so they'd thought. After nearly a year of trying and having no luck,
they went to a fertility specialist. The doctor conducted numerous tests and
they all came to one conclusion, Geet while not totally infertile, was close to
it. The chances of them conceiving were slim, but they should never loose hope.
The doctor told them what they had to do and Geet was going to do it all.
It
had been year of checking her resting body temperature, a year of checking her
peak ovulating time, a year of painful hormone shots. It had been a year of
praying and pleading with God to just give them this one miracle. Then, a year
later they had been blessed. Geet found out she was pregnant.
They
had done everything by the book. They were not going to take any chances. And
nine months later when her son had been born, it had all been worth it.
All
the morning sickness, all the doctors appointments, all the weight gain, all
the insecurities, all the swelling, and all the pain of a difficult delivery
had melted away the second the put her baby in her arms.
Again,
this is where life comes in.
Couples
in situations like this ended up one of two ways.
For
some, life was a bouquet of roses. Their lives revolved around the tiny miracle
that they had been blessed with. As a couple, it bonded them for all of
eternity because no matter what happened in the future, they created this new
life together.
For
others, like Geet, let's just say, life was anything but a bouquet of roses.
