Dayanand Shetty, better known as Inspector Daya of Sony's CID is a tough man with a soft heart. He is a very private man and likes to spend his spare time with family whenever he is not shooting. Below we try to find some quick answers from the man himself. The talented hunk, Daya speaks exclusively to Tellychakkar.com.
Any media news that has upset you?
Nothing upsets me and I have no regrets of anything as I believe in destiny. Hence I am happy with everything that comes to me.
Any gossip that you'd want to be part of?
I am a reclusive person and I do not socialize much. So, I do not want to be part of any gossip.
If not acting, which profession would have you chosen?
I would have definitely been into the hotel business.
You've been associated with CID for more than a decade. Have you even started thinking like an inspector in real life too?
Yes, subconsciously I do try finding clues in real life also.
Children love watching CID and look up to you as a super hero. What do you have to say about it?
We CID team) know it is our show where the kids get to see some live action. Hence, we try and make it more interesting for them.
How are you in real life?
Well, the real Daya is very emotional and even little things put me off. In fact when there is an emotional performance I do not need glycerin the tears role down my cheek without them.
In almost every episode you break at least one door, how many doors have you broken till date?
Thousands! (Smiles)
Would you like to take up any projects apart from CID?
I hardly have anytime in hand, as we shoot for the entire month for CID.
And I am also part of Gutur Gu. So I try to manage the two with the little time I have in hand. However, it does not bother me as I know if something is in my fate I will get it.
A show you would love to be a part of (besides CID).
Crime Patrol as I find it very exciting to watch.
How do the real life cops behave with you guys?
We get very positive response from them as ours is the only serial, where cops are portrayed in a positive way. And I doubt if any other TV series would do that.
If you had been a cop in real life...
I would have been one of the top cops.
The best compliment that you've received till today
I am very conscious about my smile as I feel I do not have a nice smile. However, while I was doing Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa the judges would always talk about my smile and I didn't take it seriously. But over time I realized that they were complimenting me for real.
What do you have to say about the CID jokes?
I think any publicity is good publicity so I do not mind it at all.
Message for the fans.
Follow your heart love your parents and never neglect them
