Maan Singh Khurana.

Maan could be interpreted in so many different ways-pride, respect, arrogance, fame-and he commanded and possessed them all. He had everything a man could desire-fame, wealth, power and the ability to put everyone under the spell of his cold, scrutinizing eyes, sarcastic tone and firm, decisive voice. He was an orator unsurpassed, and as for his looks, everyone agreed that he was very handsome, not to mention strong. He was still unhappy. What did Maan Singh Khurana lack? Sometimes, as a famous dialogue from a film goes, the love of the entire world is not enough. Sometimes if just one person loves you, you feel like the happiest person in the world.

Geet Handa.

The very word Geet means a song. She was a song alright, sweet, pretty and yet so pained with a journey so long and arduous that you would have to applaud the fact she was still standing. Betrayed by the ones she loved, she had found her soul mate, and lost him within a span of what seemed to be only a moment. She had sung her song, made her way in life, but she had no plans of stopping. She had to go on ahead, for the life of her song was literally within her and she had to nurture it to the best of her ability.

Today they both stand in front of a mirror. Let's not think where they are, when, what are they doing. They are simply looking at a piece of glass, so ordinary, and yet so special, for they are searching the answers to their questions within it. Which confirms one thing-the answers we want our within our soul. The entire knowledge of the universe rests within us, but it comes to the surface only when we need it most-which is when it is either too late, or too early. It never comes at the right time, for we never do monitor our spiritual journey, do we?

Maan can think only of one person-Geet, Geet and only Geet. Geet is the one person whose love is greater than the whole world combined because is true, bereft of any greed, filled with human inadequacies, and yet so pure. He wants her so badly he can die for her. He can become an animal for her; show a side of Maan Singh Khurana that perhaps he himself is unaware of. His wanting for her drives him mad. And today when he looks into the mirror he sees Geet with tears streaming down her face, accusing him of being what he isn't and he feels that twinge of shock again because he always thought that Geet knew him the best. He holds that magical charm in his hands, the taveez that always linked them together.

He reflects upon his actions. Truly, she had been wrong for jumping to conclusions, for doubting his love. And yet he should have proved it. He had always loved challenges, had not he? He should have made her believe that her trust in him had not been failed. But he had been so overtaken by anger, by resentment, by the humiliation of it all, that despite knowing what he was doing was against his nature, and yet so typical of it, he had made sure that she went through hell, she went through hell for he was also in the same place.

Meanwhile we have Geet looking into the mirror. What she sees is a child. She sees a child laughing and playing, with Maan looking benevolently down on the child. That was all she had desired-a family unlike the one she had grown up in. She wanted Maan because Maan was the one who had fulfilled all her desires, despite his arrogance, despite his being a jerk; he had always been the kindest man she had ever known. And she realized that he had been so good to her, it had been so hard to believe that despite it all, despite her cursed past, Maan had accepted her that she had immediately believed he wasn't the sweet man she had thought he was. For after all, all those who had loved her had given her nothing but betrayal-and subconsciously she had expected Maan to do the same.

She knew what she had to do now. So did Maan.

The office of Khurana Constructions was completely empty. There was not a single soul there. And yet two souls still resided there, waiting for their respective masters to come and join them together. Geet entered the office where Maan was patiently waiting. Their inner self had given them the answers-Geet and Maan were reflections of each other-two souls that were so different and yet so irreparably bonded with each other that all the confusion, the regret, the illusions to their mind-their salvation was themselves.

They did not need to apologize or say anything. They only had to hug each other, Maan in a crushing embrace, Geet with her arms tightly wound around him, as they savoured each other's touch after such a long time, that they had finally closed that never-ending distance between them.

P.S. I hope you all enjoyed the story. If you all did not, I am very sorry. The thing is my fingers were trembling while writing this. πŸ˜› My first OS after a long time. πŸ˜Š Please don't be harsh. And press the 'Like' button if you liked it and don't forget to comment. πŸ˜Š

Wow, that was so heartfelt and beautifully written. Pain evoked in every sentence that you wrote and the last sentence was the culmination of all those painful moments. A blissful embrace in the arms of your beloved. Perfect, just perfect!!
