Abhishek Bachchan debuts as a singer with Right Here Right Now
By Gaurav Malani (IndiaFM News Bureau), November 30, 2005 - 22:32 IST
This year we need a new category at the award functions. A category for the best shot music video for promoting a film! At least after watching the superlative work in the 'Right Here Right Now' music video shot especially for promoting the film Bluffmaster you certainly feel that there is a vacuum at the award functions to admire such exceptional work coming out from the industry.

Did you ask what makes the 'Right Here Right Now' music video exceptional? Well there are reasons more than one.
- Firstly the music by Vishal-Shekhar (who are growing popular by every passing day) is soft on ears but at the same time peppy and catchy.
- Add to it Abhishek Bachchan who gets behind the microphone and exercises his vocal chords for this track.
- And finally the picturization of the video that in one word can be described as 'classy'.

Ok even here we have the lead character, Abhishek Bachchan dancing with four sensuous bikini babes in the background. But here the background babes are not just extras but established models - Carol Gracias, Pia Trivedi, Scherzade Shroff and Anchal Kumar. And the way in which the girls are captured on lens makes all the difference. Never does the scene get vulgar. 'Sexy' would be an understatement. Priyanka Chopra like always looks desirable and adds to the sensuality of the video.

Riteish Deshmukh who plays Abhishek's protg in the film appears with a funky hairdo, all gelled and straightened up. Director Rohan Sippy also makes an appearance in the video with his new look of extended moustache (or should we call it a trimmed beard… we'll just say Kuch Na Kaho). Musician duo Vishal and Shekhar have their cameos too. Abhishek has his stubble on, that undoubtedly adds to his appeal and imparts intensity and shrewdness to his character

The music never bangs on your head but still seeps in your senses. Abhishek's attempt at singing is not all that bad since the musicians have tried to make him speak out his lines rather than making him sing to some complex tune. Sunidhi Chauhan is reliable like always. The hip-hop number is primarily in Hindi with a bit of English flowing in between, as is the trend today.

But the best part about the video is yet to come. It's the fascinating set-designs and the mesmerizing shot-takings that make this video unique and distinctive. Everything in the look of the video, from the costumes to the make-up to the accessories and the art, has been meticulously worked out. Every frame of the visual has a vibrant and at the same time youthful feel to it. When the frame switches to white dcor your heart might just skip a beat. The slow motion shots are well executed. Choreographer Farah Khan gives some simple swaying movements to Abhishek that he executes gracefully. It doesn't make him conscious nor does he have to put that extra effort.

Abhishek undoubtedly is the scene-stealer of the video. From a jeans t-shirt to snow-white formals to a heavily embroidered sherwani attire, he switches in each garb with remarkable lan. Priyanka forms the perfect icing on the cake. Take Riteish as the cherry.

Don't miss this one.
