Gautham Menon's gamble pays off!

Gautham Vasudev Menon's gamble of having two different endings for Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya (VTV) and its Telugu version Ye Maaya Chesave (YMC), has paid off handsomely at the box-office! Towards the finale, both films have the heroes screening their debut films for their lady loves, but what happens next is as different as pongal is from pesarattu. It is for the first time that a Tamil film's dubbed version has a different climax in Andhra. Initially, the trade was hesitant whether it would work out, but Gautham Menon insisted on trying it out.

Both VTV and YMC have been declared hits by the trade. This paves way for Tamil films dubbed into Telugu to experiment with different endings in future, to suit local taste!

I thought both of the films had the same sending...sibce I know the tamil one..I guess the telugu one got a nice ending😳 Have anyone seen the Telugu version? The girl Samantha is very cute 😳while Naga is a carbon copy of his father😆

Gautham Vasudev Menon's Silambarasan-Trisha love story Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya has taken a bumper opening, collecting Rs 67 lakhs or 95 per cent from a dozen screens in Chennai city. The film has opened at the number one position and is being appreciated by the director's core elite audiences, though some do not like its pace and climax.

At number two position is Tamil Padam, a runaway super hit. In third position is Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai, which is holding on in Chennai city.

At number four is Aasal, clearly struggling to keep itself afloat, and in fifth position is My Name Is Khan, which seems to be tapering off.
