Congrats to him but personally, I dont find him to be a great singer. Having seen and heard him sing live, I can vouch that there are a couple of male singers in MKMM who are better or as good as Mohit. Given a chance to playback, they can prove it.
They just need a Godfather and the break/exposure.
Mohit had no godfathers that's why it took him so long. He is 45 yrs now.
He is a true artiste, composes his own songs - check out his debut solo album 'Fitoor which came out in Oct. 2009, videos shot in serene Leh-Ladakh.
Mohit Chauhan also plays the flute beautifully. He is not a trained singer.
He was lead singer of the famous indi-pop band "Silk Route". He has also sung pahadi folk songs.
IMO, he's got a great voice for romantic songs, tho with 'masakkali', he proved his calibre by singing in a diff. pitch than his usual.
I hope he sings the soft 'gulon mein rang' from Sikander (have requested him on his fan page), or the vibrant 'masakkali' - 😊
All in all, a classy dude, am proud to be his fan. ⭐️
