Of the seven important cities mentioned in Hindu literature, Puri holds an important place along with Ujjain, Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi, Dwaraka and Kanchi. When Adi Shankara unified the entire sub continent of Bharat under one Advaitic thought, he established the four "dhaam"s or sites wherein Dwaraka and Puri were picked as the farthest Western and Eastern points on the same latitude while Badrinath and Rameshwaram as the farthest Northern and Southern points on the same longitude.

The joke is that having lived in Ujjain (a mokshapuri in its own right) all their lives, the parents of Shraddha desired to go on a pilgrimage to see the chaar dham. It is no wonder that the serial has ended with Puri alone as it is said that Puri should be the last of the four dhaams to be visited- after Puri, every "attachment" with this world and its relationships "severe" and if you don't, the Pandas (priests) there, at the temple, will ensure it! Their incessant demands for money and never letting you close your eyes for a moment in prayer ensures this! The Pandas of Puri and the brahmins of Gaya are said to be impossible to satisfy with your offerings.

Hopefully, Mahayatra, the clone of this serial will show a spiritual progression of the main characters where their 'attachments" and desires of this world fall by the way side.
