TINKER BELL
DVD release date: October 28, 2008
As a fan of Tinker Bell€™s original movie €œPeter Pan,€ I really wasn€™t sure if I€™d like the Tinker Bell movie, but I was pleasantly surprised!
€œTinker Bell€ is beautiful, both to watch and listen to. The beautiful visuals blend well with a gorgeous musical score, set to an enjoyable story.
I€™ve heard some hubbub about the fact that Tinker Bell would finally have a voice, but is that changing the character? In my opinion, creatures communicate. In €œPeter Pan€ we never see Tink communicating with other pixies, so certainly it can be perceived that she can communicate with her own kind, even if human€™s can€™t hear her speaking.
The Barbie dollesque pixies are sure to appeal to girls, yet the film is not too girly to appeal to boys, particularly with the introduction of some male pixies. But, I don€™t feel the €œTinker Bell€ movie is just for kids, I believe it can be enjoyed equally by the young generation and those who saw €œPeter Pan€ in theaters when it was first released.
There are bonus features accompanying this DVD which include an Easter egg to more features:
TINKER TRAINER is a DVD-ROM feature to be inserted into your computer and played there. The MAGICAL GUIDE TO PIXIE HOLLOW lets you choose an area of Pixie Hollow to learn, in little minute and a half to three minutes segments, about that fictional location such as the plants, wildlife and its residents.
EVER WONDER is a very clever, four minute fun little short which demonstrates how Tinker Bell and her friends spread their magic in a live action world.
€FLY TO YOUR HEART€ MUSIC VIDEO BY SELENA GOMEZ features the Disney Channel star singing this number that is also heard in the film. The color and overall visual appearance of this video is completely consistent with the beauty of the film.
There a couple extra treasures hidden away on this disc. By using the arrows on your remote control, somewhere on this DVD you can find the Mainland which consists of additional features.
The bonus features in the Easter Egg are not small, trivial pieces but a complete ten minute featurette, CREATING PIXIE HOLLOW.
Also in The Mainland are six DELETED SCENES, with an average length of about a minute and a half. Some are fully rendered, while some rely heavily on the storyboard images for its visuals. All the deleted scenes offer an optional introduction by Director Bradley Raymond and Producer Jeannine Roussel.
