Iqbal Khan talks about 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai', being a Kashmiri and his significant other
What makes 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai' tick?
'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai' is a dramatic love story of Angad and Kripa. Secondly, it is not women-centric. Men play an equally important part. Lastly, it is presented by Balaji Telefilms, a production house that prides itself for its story telling.
How do you feel about the recent twist in the serial where Angad becomes Zaib?
I am excited to play two different shades of a single character. This has given me an opportunity to display my acting capabilities further.
What is your life like beyond the serial?
Right now, I'm very busy with 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai.' I work seven days a week. So I don't have any time for other commitments. The only thing I did recently was a special appearance in 'Jassi…' as a model.
Why don't most Kashmiri's make it as successful actors?
The conditions in Kashmir are totally different from the other states of India. For so many years it has been considered unsafe and politically unstable. As a result, Kashmiris feel backward and ignored. I consider myself lucky to have broken that confinement. My parents have a different mindset. They sent me to boarding school in Delhi in the sixth standard. My academic life was based there and now I am professionally based in Mumbai.
Any fond memories of Kashmir?
I remember my childhood. My father has a huge house where I spent most of my time. Everything is so fresh and natural there. It's still paradise. A unique aspects of Kashmiri's is that they may drive a Maruti 800 but they have big houses. In Mumbai it is opposite. People riding in Bolero's stay in one bedroom flats.
Who has played a vital role in your life?
My parents. My father had a premonition that I have a special ability. My parents are my greatest strength.
Is romance in the offing?
I have someone special in my life. She is sweet, soft-spoken and a very good human being. She is not from the industry and I can't disclose her name right now.
