Best of both worlds

Mumbai: Meet Vipin Dhyani. An advertising professional with around nine years of experience. His recent works include communication films for Hide and Seek and Milano which is a ad film starring Hrithik Roshan and Monaco's new variant with Aamir Khan. But his talent is not limited to creating ads. He has recently been writing scripts and lyrics for some upcoming mainstream Hindi cinema. It's almost become a trend these days for all ad professionals to skew towards the film world after a certain time in advertising. Is there a reason for that? "Films and advertising deal in the same business that is the business of human engineering. Both of them deal with human psychology and emotions and thus share a very close ground. If you are seeing many ad guys venturing into the film space, then I will say it's one of the natural extensions," says Vipin.

Penning a film or writing a song is nothing different for Vipin apart from his regular advertising job. "Just like ads, you can come up with a one-line idea for a film and write a whole script on it. However, the challenge in writing a script is the engagement part. You have the weave it in such a way that people will still be interested in listening and watching your story over a stretch of a couple of hours," he remarks.

Vipin doesn't want to quit advertising for films. But he is quite happy managing both together. His three recent film projects include screenplay and dialogues for Gulnar, a political and romantic film on Indo-Pak relations directed by Gajendra Singh, the director of Sa Re Ga Ma, Voice of India and Antakshari; scripted a thriller titled 29 for Code Red films starring Irrfan Khan, Rajeev Khandelwal (of film Aamir fame ) and Rimi Sen; and written Project Chamba for Aarif Sheikh, editor of such hits such as Maqbool, Makri and Omkara. This film stars Prateek Babbar, Jackie Shroff and Boman Irani.

July 14th, 2009 - 8:07 am ICT by sampurn -

Well this news can break the heart of many females but it's true that Rajeev Khandelwal is no more single and therefore not ready to mingle. Today at the press conference of Sach Ka Saamna he confessed that he is seeing someone.

When asked about his past relationship (Aamna) or whether he would invite her to the show, Rajeev replied, "Why are you all still stuck with that. I never denied about her, but now I just don't want to say anything as I haven't met her since two years. Right now, I am in a relationship and feeling good about it. "

"Even I do plan to get married and settle down. About Aamna all I can say is that she has her own life and I have my own," he adds further.

The actor cum host further refused to divulge any information about his girlfriend. We just know that she is not from this industry.

Rajeev was once a desirable bachelor but not any more' The one who was the heartthrob as Sujal of Kahin Toh Hoga has broken many hearts with this news. Isn't it?

Family can press alarm bell on Sach ka Saamna!

14 July 2009, 06:54pm IST
Rajeev Khandelwal and Siddharth Basu

Contestants reveal their life's truthful moments in front of their loved ones, and go through their lives' biggest 'sacchai ki agnipariksha' on Sach Ka Saamna.

The show, which starts Wednesday, has been adapted from an internationally acclaimed show called Moment of Truth, which also has a huge fan following in India. From nail biting anxiety to answers that will almost have you fall off your chairs, the show has kept the bout of anxiety high with each contestant. While the Hindi version will be hard hitting as contestants boldly share their bitter truths, the show has been crafted keeping in mind the Indian sensibilities.

Taking the contestants through this assertive roller coaster ride, the host Rajeev Khandelwal encourages contestants to keep their calm while supporting them through their emotional journey. At the end, the game rewards honesty by testing the nerve, resilience and integrity of a contestant. The show is an attempt to bring about a positive change by helping the contestants shed their baggage and lead a significantly better life.

Commenting on the launch of the show Mr. Keertan Adyanthaya, GM and EVP, STAR Plus, said "We salute the bravery and courage of our participants to face the truth paving the way for more people to be honest and look at new beginnings."

The participants are selected after the research team has done a psycho-analysis of personality type and their past. They go through three tests and interviews before reaching the polygraph test. In the test, participants are put on the hot seat and asked 50 questions in a row and are given 25 seconds to answer each.

The family of the contestant collectively has a button in front of them, which can stop a question from being answered at anytime, but it can be used only once by the group. If the button is pushed, that question is removed and a replacement question takes its place

The authenticity of the contestants' responses is determined by a polygraph examination and the right answers are not known to anyone, neither the production house, the host or even the channel. The questions are broken into six levels with a prize money at each level for an ultimate cash prize of Rs. 1 crore and with each passing level questions get tougher, more personal and increasingly edgy.

Contestants can decide to stop at any time and leave the show; at that point they will win the amount of the last level successfully completed provided they haven't heard the next question to be asked. If the contestant lie at any level, he/she loses all the money and will be out of the show.

Following the same format, in Sach Ka Saamna participants are put on the hot seat and respond to questions at different levels. This show will have them revealing uncomfortable truths of their life, while with each passing levels nervousness, excitement and tensions rise as questions get tougher, more personal and significantly edgy. The authenticity of the contestants responses are determined by a polygraph test of 50 questions conducted by Mr Herb Irvine, a renowned Polygraph expert from US. Out of 50, 21 questions are asked by Rajeev Khandelwal on the show and the answers for the same are not known by anyone else but the contestant himself!

Rajeev Khandelwal, host of Sach Ka Saamna adds, "Sach Ka Saamna is the world's simplest yet the most difficultgame show as one has to speak nothing but the truth to survive through each level. I have been a part of the emotional journey and understand the sentiments that each contestants go through. I applaud all of them who have had the courage to accept the truth in the presence of their family. It's an honor for me to be a part of such a unique show on Star Plus."

Mr. Siddharth Basu, CMD, BIG Synergy and one who has been credited with many firsts in Indian television, says, "Sach ka Samna is a powerful and engaging show that will explore people's relationship with truth, and reveal psychological and social insights that are quite thought- provoking and often moving. This marks a decade of association between Synergy and Star and together we hope to recreate the same magic."

US expert to determine truth on new Indian reality show

July 14th, 2009 - 8:54 pm ICT by IANS

New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) Los Angeles-based polygraph test reading expert Herb Irvine has been especially flown in to India for the reality show "Sach Ka Saamna". He will help the organisers in deciding whether the contestants are lying or telling the truth.
Irvine, who has been associated with American reality show "Moment of Truth", is in India on his first visit for the show, which will premiere on STAR Plus Wednesday.

"I had never been to India before coming here for the show. It has certainly been a different experience. Every country I go to is a new experience for me. I enjoy learning about different cultures," Irvine told IANS in an e-mail interview.

Irvine has been associated with "Moment of Truth" since the past year and conducted tests in other countries where the show has been telecast.

On the show "Sach Ka Saamna", the contestants will have to answer 21 controversial questions about their lives to win a Rs.10 million prize money. Actor Rajeev Khandelwal is the host.

The promos show the participants being asked questions about their sexuality, extramarital affairs and has succeeded in creating curiosity among the viewers.

According to Irvine, the show will strike the right chord with the Indian audience.

"It's a never-been done format - putting regular people on a show to win money by being truthful about personal matters. I'm always curious to hear how the show is doing once it airs. I think it will be successful in India. They have a great production company (BIG Synergy) and network behind the show," he said.

For the show, Irvine will be conducting a polygraph test on the contestant two days before the final shoot. In the test, participants are asked 50 questions in a row and are given 25 seconds to answer each while being strapped to a polygraph machine.

Irvine will determine the authenticity of the responses. The questions will be broken into six levels and with each passing level, it will get tougher and more personal.

Explaining the apparatus he will be using for the show, Irvine said: "We will be using a lie detector that will monitor a person's breathing rate, sweat pores, heat rate and blood volume, which will help in detecting if a person is lying or telling the truth."

Based on his experiences on the American show, Irvine said that there are often some contestants who leave the show after winning some money while there are others who recall certain questions asked during the polygraph tests and move out before tougher questions are put up.

Apart from reality shows, Irvine has been providing investigative services as well as polygraph examinations to law enforcement agencies, attorneys, insurance companies and individual clients since the past 20 years in the US.
