Bollywood's Akhiri Salaam to Late Feroz Khan
By Ashwini Deshmukh, 5 May, 2009

Bollywoods Akhiri Salaam to Late Feroz KhanThe who's who of the film industry attended the prayer meeting held in the memory of the late Feroz Khan. Everybody sat patiently through the recitation of the holy Quran after which followed the heartwarming speeches by the family members, friends and colleagues of the late actor.

Amitabh Bachchan was accompanied by Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya. Rakesh Roshan came with Hrithik and  Sussane. Also present were Shah Rukh Khan with Gauri, Karan Johar and the Moranis.

Feroz's brother Sanjay Khan spoke about the man Feroz was, both personally and professionally. Sanjay also remembered his brother's exuberant nature.

Sanjay Dutt recalled the days when he reminded Feroz that they knew each other even before they worked together in Yalgaar. Sanjay's mother, the late Nargis, had shot a song with Feroz when she was pregnant with Sanjay. Commenting on when he went to visit the ailing actor during his last days at the hospital, Sanjay said, "When Fardeen informed Feroz that I was coming to meet him, he immediately asked Fardeen to let him get ready as he wanted me to see him dressed exactly as I always loved to see him."

While Amitabh Bachchan kept it short and sweet speaking about the great man that Feroz was, an emotional Dharmendra reminisced the magical moments he spent with Feroz and also the late actor's kindness and generosity.

'Feroz's favourite actress''. Mumtaz spoke of the many firsts in her life- her first luxury watch, her first visit to a casino in Beirut, her first visit to Paris- all thanks to Feroz. She spoke about how well Fardeen and Laila took care of Feroz in the last two years.

Fardeen thanked everybody and said that there couldn't have been a more fitting tribute to him. When an inconsolable Fardeen said that everybody should always express their love for parents as it's the only thing parents want from their children, everybody got teary-eyed.

As a mark of tribute, singer Sapna Mukherjee, who got her break in Feroz's Janbaaz, sang two lines from a song in the film. Tera pyaar hai kitna pyara, kam lagta hai jeevan sara, tere milan ke agan mein hume aana padega duniya main dobaara.
