Alok Chatterjee
Gauri Chatterjee/Kapoor played by Pallavi Subhash
Gauri is a simple girl who has no big dreams and ambitions. Her only aim in life is to keep her family happy. She is not very literate and smart but is instinctive and carries herself with dignity.
Debodutta Chatterjee
He is gauri's brother who is greedy, selfish and a self-centric human being who hardly cares for his father who took loan to give him better education. After completing his education he gets a goodd job but ignores the needs of his father and sisters. He is busy fulfilling his wife's dreams and demands. He lives with the family but doesn't share a gud relationship withd his father.
Sudeshna Chatterjee
She is Debbodutta's wife. Sudeshna is a grey character in the story. She influences Debodutta to ignore the family which comprises of his father and sisters. Sudeshna poisons Debodutta's mind against the family.
Kaaya Chatterjee
Kaya is Gauri's pampered younger sister. She is a feminist and has her own set of ambitions and convictions. Her life long dream has been to become a doctor. She feels that she is being victimized to pay for her brother's mistakes.
Mashima
She is Alok's cousin and a widow. She lives with the Chatterjee family and is a mother figure to Gauri and Kaya.
Dada
Dada is the head of the kapoor family. He is Mahen's father and is a very positive and fun loving person. He is very progressive and everybody respects him.
Dadi
Dadi cribs for everything but is loving and caring at the same time. She is a funny character who is loving and innocent.
Mahen Kapoor
Mahen is a true businessman who looks suave and gentlemanly. He is sort of arrogant but very much in to the family. He takes calculated risks in life and wanted to be a politician as it would help in business.
Nikhila Kapoor
Nikhila is a typical indian bahu. She is diplomatic and the one who takes final decisions on behalf of her husband.
Shiv Kapoor
Shiv is very charismatic and Mahen Kapoor's eldest son. He loves going around with women and loves his life. He has a very good business sense and his father has high hopes for him. He does everything with a lot of energy and passion. He has a very volatile relationship with his lady love Ipshita.
Anupam
Anupam is Shiv's friend and he likes Ipshita. Later he marries Ipshita who paralyzes. He is cured by some accident in the house itself where Samar is going to kill Gauri.
Samar Kapoor
Samar is Shiv's long-lost twin brother. He had been kidnapped as a child and after a long time returns back to his family. He is the only pillar of support for the Kapoors after Shiv's death. He marries Gauri, Shiv's widow, to seek revenge for the bloodshed of his mother. Later it is revealed that not Gauri but his own Maya bua is the murderer. Gauri and Samar fall in love and lead a happy life with ups and downs.
Palak Kapoor
Palak is slightly negative and wants to live her life with freedom and independence. She likes talking about class and status.
Daksh Kapoor
Daksh has an extra marital affair but pretends to be very nice with his wife in front of the family. He is Mahen's brother. He also has issues over a land with Mahen. He is thrown out of the house by Mahen.
Shyla Kapoor
Shyla is Daksh's wife. She is frustrated because of her husband's extra marital affair and is insecure about her children. She wants her son to join the family business.
Vivan Kapoor
Vivan is very ambitious and studious. He is frank and blunt. He hates his father as he knows about his affair. Although he was in love with Kaya before, he is now happily married to Aastha.
Maya
Maya is Ayush's wife and is Mahen's only sister. She is the typical nanand who likes to talk about everyone in the family and create a negative energy in the house. She thinks the daughters too have an equal right in a father's property. At the moment she is in jail for murdering Mahen's wife and her bhabhi Nihkila.
Ayush
Ayush is Maya's husband and a ghar jamaai. He was negative and stubborn at first who did things for money. But now, he is good, helpful, and a big pillar of support to Dadaji and the whole Kapoor family.
Sugna
Sugna, Ipshita's mom, is very ambitious when it comes to her career. She has dedicated her whole life to raise her children and lives her life without regrets. She was negative at first and then becomes positive.
Ipshita
Ipshita is a free spirit with a mind of her own and takes all her decisions by herself. She is in love with Shiv Kapoor. She was to marry Shiv, but due to a problem in Shiv's kundali, he had to marry Gauri instead of Ipshita.
Shashank
Shashank works for Mahen as an accountant. Mahen wants him to get married to Gauri. He is projected as the hero but later on is revealed to be part of Nikhila's drama and ends up becoming one of the villains in the show.
Nisha
Nisha is Anupma's sister who blamed the Kapoors for Anupam's condition and plotted revenge by trying to sabotage the family under the alias of Gauri.
Devika
Devika is Gauri's nani and the Kapoor's rival. She wants Shiv to divorce Gauri because she knows the truth about the dosh in Shiv's kundali.
Kamya
Kamya is a spoilt brat of Mrs. Das Gupta in whose office Samar works after moving to Kolkata. She is a negative character who is madly in love with Samar, but he is only a commodity she wants. She creates many misunderstandings wthd her mom, Mrs. Das Gupta, but later on is killed by her own mom.
Mrs. Das Gupta
She is Kamya's mom who has always listened to her child's demands and never said no to her. She is the mastermind behind separating SAURI for her daughter. Eventually she realizes everything and kills her own daughter and goes to jail.
Gopal
He is a friend of Samar and Shiv. He is married to Dhruv's sister. His dream is to make movies, which to date hasn't been accomplishd.
Dhruv
He is Maya and Ayush's adopted son. He is married to Gayatri and his character keeps changing from positive to negative. Right now he is positive.
Gayatri
She is Dhruv's wife. She was very positive in the begginning, but money corrupts her and she becomes stubborn and negative. She can do anything for property and money.
Mrs. Bannerji
Mrs. Bannerji is very good at first who gives Samar and Gauri a place to live in her colony. However, due to misunderstandings she becomes negative and throws Gauri out of the house because of Das Gupta.
Prateek
Prateek is a solely positive character to date. He is Gauri's best friend from college and can do anything for his friend. He cure Samar from his Brain Tumor and happily agrees to do anything for Sauri. He did many things to save Sauri's relationship and succeded. He is love with Aarti who is a social worker.
