Characters of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki

Babuji
The head of a family of eight, Babuji is a disciplinarian. He has two sons from his first marriage - Om and Gaurav. His second wife and he have five children - Ajay, Chaaya, Kamal, Sonali and Preeti. Babuji adores his son Ajay, but when Ajay walks out on the family, Babuji realises that there is a lot more to his "no-good" son Kamal than he would have ever thought..


Maa
The second wife of Babuji, Maa loves towards all her children. But she has a soft corner for Om, the stepson that she dotes above all else. Her relationship with her favourite and his wife, however, deteriorates after Kamal's marriage.


Om
Om is the son who can never do wrong, the good soul of the house. A model son, Om is also the ideal husband who loves his wife Parvati with all his heart.


Parvati
She is the ideal wife every man would want, the perfect bhabhi to Om's siblings. Parvati loves the family and does everything in her power to maintain peace in the Agrawal household. She has a soft corner for Kamal, who she thinks is misunderstood by the family. She also dotes upon Neeraj, the son of Maa's sister.

Gaurav
Gaurav is Babuji's second son who has been looking after the family business. He is married to Shilpa and loves her a lot. However, into their life steps Shweta, an old college friend of Gaurav's. Gaurav is torn between his love for his wife and the feelings he harbours for his friend.



Ajay
The first child of Maa and Babuji, Ajay fulfils his father's dreams by becoming a lawyer. The family hopes to see him married to Pallavi, the daughter of Babuji's business rival. But Ajay is attracted to Avantika, his boss' daughter. His boss hands him an ultimatum - marry Avantika and become an independent lawyer, or marry Pallavi and doom his career. Ajay walks out on his family and Pallavi - and therefore, triggers off the chain of events that seem set to destroy peace and happiness in the Agrawal family.



Kamal
A school drop-out with a heart of gold, Kamal steps in to marry Pallavi when Ajay walks out on her and the family. He is labelled a dimwit, but he comes to the rescues of the family and often supports it. Kamal is also intensely unhappy in his marriage, since his wife does not love him.

Pallavi
Daughter of Babuji's business rival, Pallavi is engaged to Ajay, but agrees to marry Kamal to save her father's honour, when Ajay walks out on the wedding. She also swears to avenge the humiliation she has been subjected to, by wreaking havoc on the Agrawal family.


Neeraj
The son of Maa's late sister, Neeraj is pampered by one and all in the family. But the one closest to him is Parvati, whom he calls Choti Maa and who loves him as much as she loves her own daughter.


Mitali
The daughter of Maa's late sister, Mitali is Neeraj's sister. She is a typical college-going girl.

Chaaya
Babuji's eldest daughter is a divorcee who has let life's hard knocks take a toll on her. She often finds fault with people. She supports Pallavi in her battle against Parvati, but soon realises the error of her ways.


Preeti
The second child of Maa and Babuji, Preeti lives with her parents. She is a great source of support to Neeraj and Mitali, and loves and admires Parvati.

Sonali
Sonali is the second daughter of Maa and Babuji. She is the prettiest of the lot and is engaged. But when the groom's parents demand dowry, the Agrawal family refuses and the wedding is cancelled. Sonali's friend Tushar then agrees to marry her. But her in-laws do not accept her, since they are richer than she is and come from a different family background.

Sonali's fate takes a turn for the worse when she is raped. When she does emerge from this trauma, it is only to discover that she is pregnant. Sonali is then torn apart by the thought that this child might not be her husband's - but of the man who raped her.
