She is our heroine of the show. When she was born her other died. Her father raised her with a lot of love and throughout her childhood she has been abused by Kamla. She is waiting for her ghardi wala to come who had saved her when she was little.

Ranbir is the hero of this show and Rano's gardi wala who had saved Rano. He belongs to a rich family and is his dadi's favourite. He is a bit spoiled but good at heart. He meets Rano in the form of her student since he's failed a few times.
Rano's father. He is the station master and had raised Rano on his own. He married Kamla so that Rano would receive a mother's love. Gurcharan has saved his land and money to give to Rano and plans on giving everything to Rano before Sukhi and Kamla get their hands on it.
Preet ( Achint Kaur )
Preet is the eldest daughter of Maan family. She treats all her siblings like her own kids. Especially Ranbir and Guddo are apples of her eyes. She is somebody who is against the idea of Love so much so that she manipulates the lives of her siblings to keep them away from love.
Kamla is Rano's evil step-mother. Ever since she found out that she married a man who already has a daughter, she's been mean to Rano. During Rano's childhood she would often hit her and make Rano do chores. Kamla is a greedy woman who loves money.

Tina is the younger sister of Shanno who has come down from Canada to meet her. Tina is Ranbir's best friend who also, has fallen in love with him. She tries to support his with Rano. But due to circumstances, she agrees to marry Ranbir. But eventually she gets married to Vicky.
Here's the story of Ranbir Rano till now.
Ranbir Rano met during their childhood. Rano's mother had died giving birth to Rano and her father, Gurcharan, raised her with the help of his friend Fauji chacha. Rano always wanted a mother so for her happiness Gurcharan married Kamla who wasn't too thrilled about having a step-daughter. On her wedding night she yelled at Rano and Rano went to the train station and almost got run over by a train but was saved by Ranbir. Ranbir gave her a watch so the she could tell what time it is and so that she wouldn't wander around at night but when Rano tried giving the watch back to Ranbir, it broke. Rano got left with the watch and Ranbir got the chain that was attached to the watch and he drove away. They met again during Ranbir's birthday party when Rano was sent by Kamla to do work. It was also Rano's birthday and Ranbir decided to celebrate when he found out. However, Shah ji, Ranbir's father, enters the scene and insults Rano because she is poor.
Years go by and Kamla treats Rano as a slave and abuses her. Because of this Rano does her homework and studies at night. Even when there's an annual mela and her friend Nimmi comes, Kamla refuses to let Rano go. They show a leap and it's the mela again and Nimmi tells Rano to come. However, Kamla doesn't allow Rano to go because she has chores to do.
Gurcharan waits eagerly for Rano at the train station and she comes and tells him that she's passed and is now a teacher. Gurcharan gives out sweets to everyone and to the prediction lady. He asks the lady to bless Rano so that she can get married to a good boy. The lady says that Rano isn't born to be tied down to a relationship.
At home Kamla gets the news and pretends to be happy for Rano. Rano leaves and goes to the gurdwara where she confronts Shah ji about his behaviour to poor people. The mukhiya goes to Kamla and tells her about this and plot to get Rano married to the mukhiya's nephew, Gullu. Gurcharan comes home and sees them talking about this and he refuses to let Rano marry Gullu.
Shah ji's son, Vicky, finds out about Rano insulting Shah ji and goes and points a gun at Rano. Nimmi pushes Vicky out of the way and Rano runs. She hops on a guy's motorcycle and after a while the guy, who turns out to be Ranbir, asks Rano where she's going but then gets annoyed by her answer and tells her to get off. Her dupatta gets caught in the chain that was in Ranbir's pocket and she realises that it's the guy who saved her when she was little. Vicky comes while Rano hides behind a tree and Ranbir says he never saw Rano come this way and they leave.
Meanwhile, when Gurcharan is away, Kamla tricks Rano into getting married to Gullu but at the last second when Rano is about to put the ring on Gullu, Gurcharan comes and stops the engagement. Gurcharan decides to send Rano off so him and Fauji chacha go and fill out a form for Rano's internship and send her off, knowing that she'll be happier away from Kamla.
Shah ji announces Ranbir's engagement and Ranbir's bebe is not too happy about this. She convinces Ranbir to run away and later finds out that if Ranbir gets married, then girl's cousin will marry Guddo, Shah ji's mentally challenged daughter and Ranbir's sister. Bebe also discovers that Shah ji is also trying to get the land from the villagers so that he can give it as Guddo's dowry.
Rano discovers that she has no money on her because Kamla and her stepbrother Sukhi took it. Luckly Rano meets a lady who lets Rano stay in her hotel for free since Rano had arrived late and wasn't allowed to get a room at the hostel provided by the college until the next day. Rano's friend Simmi arrives and gives Rano money while at the village the mukhiya threatens Kamla saying that Rano has to marry Gullu and Kamla assures him saying Rano has no money and has to return.
Ranbir and Rano end up at the same college and after their first meeting, they hate each other. A man at the hostel gives Rano a form and says she needs to get it signed by Bhai ji, who turns out to be Ranbir. Ranbir refuses to sign it unless Rano apologizes and Rano walks away from there. In class, Ranbir turns out to be Rano's student (he failed a few times) and annoys her with the help of his friend Sunny. Ranibr later puts up posters all over town saying Rano is crazy and later kicks Rano out of the hotel she's staying in. While Sunny and Ranbir are laughing about it, Biji calls and Ranbir tells her about Rano. Biji gets angry and tells Ranbir he has to apologize. Ranbir however tells Rano that if she wants to get a room in the hostel she has to apologize to him and act like a chicken in front of everyone at the college. When Rano was about to, Ranbir stops her and signs the form.
Ranbir then tries to get Rano to forgive him but fails each time. He goes on a food strike but Rano finds out he's pretending.Biji calls Ranbir and tells him to continue apologizing and prays to God that Rano becomes her bahu as she is a good influence on Ranbir and that Ranbir loves her but hasn't realised it yet.
Ranbir's father-in-law to be comes and wanrs Shah ji about getting Ranbir married to his daughter or else Guddo wont marry his nephew. Shah ji sends Ranbir's older brother Rajinder to bring Ranbir back and bebe tells Ranbir to run away before Rajender comes.
The mukhiya comes and complains to Vicky about Gurcharan not selling his land and Vicky, mukhiya, Gullu and Sukhi make up a plan to get Gurcharan to give up the land. Sukhi then learns that the land is for Guddo and tries to get Guddo to fall in love with him and Kamla helps Sukhi. Gurcharan decides to transfer the land to Rano because he knows that Kamla and Sukhi might do something.
Rano refuses to let Ranbir go on the trip saying that Ranbir is the trustee's son and doesn't need permission from her. Ranbir sneaks on the bus disguised as a woman (he wears a burka) and has Sunny make sure he gets to stay with Rano and in her tent so that he can annoy her. However, when the class was on a hiking trip, Ranbir convinces Rano to go on a walk where they meet goons. They escape from them and hide in a mandir while the goons are searching for them to kill them.In the mandir Rano accidently injures Ranbir's hand and uses her dupatta to bandage it. RR start being nicer to each other.
Meanwhile Ranbir's older sister Preet comes and starts asking about Ranbir. It is revealed that she hates love and that she hold a high position in the house. She sends Ranbir's brothers to look for him while Ranbir's father-in-law to be sets an ad on t.v. offering a reward to whoever finds Ranbir. Ranbir and Rano go to a locksmith and ask him to break the handcuffs off. When the man goes inside, he sees the ad on t.v. and calls Ranbir's family. Ranbir hears him talk on the phone and decides to run away. Rano and Ranbir enter town where Rano sees a father with is child and starts to miss Gurcharan. Ranbir gives her a coin to call put Kamla picks up and hangs up. Rano is depressed and while walking she almost falls off a cliff but Ranbir saves her and they share a hug. Kamla later recieves a call from the principal informing her that Rano's missing and Gurcharan over hears this. Him and Fauji chacha decide to go look for Rano. Meanwhile, it's dark and RR find a deserted house to spend the night. Rano dreams that Ranbir is about to kiss her which wakes her up. She notices Ranbir is gone and that she's no longer handcuffed. She looks around for Ranbir and finds him unconscious and his head's bleeding. She runs to look for help but when she comes back she sees some guys carrying Ranbir to a hut. She sneaks in and wakes up Ranbir and when they're about to leave, they both drop the watch and chain. They both leave from there and on their way, Ranbir passes out. Rano finds a mandir and asks for help. Meanwhile, the guys who kidnapped Ranbir (One of em is the guy who wanted to kill Ranbir. Turns out he was hired by Ranbir's father-in-law to-be, Saniyal) They find out Ranbir isn't there and the cops come and arrest the kidnappers. At the mandir Rano stays up all night looking after a diya so that Ranbir will be ok. In the morning Ranbir is ok and they have their moment. Then when they're in the mandir, Ranbir accidently puts sindoor on Rano and then spreads it and fills her maang. Ranbir decides to plan a surprise for Rano and while he's gone, Preet arrives and takes Ranbir away and tells him the Biji isn't feeling well. Rano wonders why Ranbir's taking so long and goes looking for him. While she's looking, Ranbir jumps out of the car to look for Rano while Rano accidently bumps into Gurcharan and Fauji chacha's car. They take her away and Ranbir finds out from people that Rano's gone. Preet comes and takes Ranbir. Ranbir arrives home and sees that Biji is alright and realises Preet lied. When Preet tells Ranbir about his marriage to Aarti (the girl), he refuses saying he's in love with Rano. Mean while with Rano, Kamla harrasses Rano and tell her that she's getting married to Gullu and tries to wipe the sindoor off but Rano grabs her hand
