Part 13b
Meanwhile, in Khushi and Rashi's room, Arnav was sitting on the bed with them and the three of them were laughing. "Did you see his face when Rathod Sir handed Khushi the gun? I think we definitely could have taken a picture of that and sent it to a circus to amuse people." Riya cackled loudly causing Arnav and Khushi to join in. Khushi looked at laughing Arnav's profile. The man in front of her had changed so much for her. He hadn't even done anything wrong this time for him to change himself for her. In fact, she was the one hiding things. Khushi made up her mind to tell Arnav the truth about the child as soon as they beat Shyam. Arnav saw her staring at him and smirked to himself.
The next morning, the whole house was chaotic getting ready for the wedding. Chotu and Shree had gone to make sure the cars were ready while Shree also had to organize his equipment without Shyam noticing. As they were walking out, Shree was making fun of Chotu for eating three bananas already and starting his fourth when he noticed some wires in the wall. He stopped to wonder at them when Chotu called him to hurry up.
Anjali, Nani, and Mami all were in Nani's room getting ready while Arnav and Rathod were both talking on their bluetooths while putting on their clothes.
Khushi had just walked into the bathroom to take a shower while Riya was just putting the final accessories on. Down the hall, Shyam stealthily walked up to their window and peeped in for a chance to see Khushi. When he had found out that Khushi wasn't staying in the same room as Arnav, his happiness knew no bounds. When he looked in, he didn't see Khushi but instead found Riya struggling to tie her dori on the back of her blouse for her blue and green net saree. Her hair was tied in a bun, leaving her back completely exposed. Shyam couldn't get himself to look away. After all, Riya was just a beautiful as Khushi.
Arjun was walking by Riya and Khushi's room when he saw Shyam standing at the window, looking in with a lustful smile on his face. Arjun walked up quietly to the door to warn Khushi when he saw that only Riya was standing inside. giving a clear view of her back to the two men behind her. Arjun's anger flared up and he walked right up to Riya.
Riya almost screamed and started to turn around when Arjun held her firmly by the shoulders to keep her in place. He leaned into her ears. "You were right. Shyam is keeping an eye on us. But not in the way that you were implying." Arjun motioned for her to look at her reflection. Riya looked up and was shocked to see Shyam staring back at her. She looked down, feeling uncomfortable.
Shyam hadn't realized that they had noticed him looking, so he continued to stand at the window. Arjun looked at Riya's fearful eyes and a sort of monster seemed to take over him. He couldn't bear the sight of another man staring at Riya with lust in his eyes. He, finally, turned around and stared straight at Shyam, scaring him and sending him off.
Arjun started to leave when he turned back to say something to Riya. He saw Riya continuing to struggle to tie her dori. He went up to her and took the strings from her hands causing her to look at him with wide eyes. "Riya..." Arjun said her name very softly and Riya saw him close his eyes. She looked at him and smiled as he tied her dori. Once when his hands touched her bare back, she shuddered. Arjun opened his eyes and looked at her apologetically to which she gave him a reassuring smile. He finished tying the dori and Riya thanked him as he nodded and left.
Everyone was waiting in the living room. The women were sitting and taunting Khushi for making everyone late as Shyam sat silently next to Anjali looking at the stairs constantly. Arnav, Chotu, and Rathod were chatting about politics while Shree had left to do some mysterious work and said that he would join everyone later. Arjun stood in a corner in a suit, while Riya kept stealing glances at him.
Khushi came like a storm holding an earring in one hand and holding the skirt of her pink, red, and gold lehenga up in the other. She started apologizing for being late when her heel turned onto one side causing her to fall forward. Shyam stood up but Arnav had seen it coming and was waiting at the stairs to catch her. Arnav looked at her closed eyes which she opened once she realized that she hadnt hit the ground.
"Oho jijaji! You have such a good connection with Khushi Di. But keep some love for your saali too" Riya teased Arnav, who lightly punched her after putting Khushi down. Arnav held an arm out to Riya which she took, laughing. They started walking towards the car as Khushi walked smiling behind them. Arjun walked next to her looking slightly irritated. "Its so hard to digest no? That someone else can give your loved one the happiness and change that maybe you won't ever be able to give. Yet you can't blame either of them for it." Khushi spoke quietly to Arjun. Arjun didn't respond but his irritation was visibly gone. Khushi just smirked at him. She knew Arjun didn't just think of Riya as a colleague but there no easy way to make this man realize it.
