Chapter 31 :The ASR.

"Where is my breakfast?" Arnav said at 9:00am sharp. "I told you I would be going to office!" he told the cook. She looked down. "Sir I thought--"Arnav!" Khushi gasped barely awake. "What's the matter?" she asked.

"Even you aren't ready?" Arnav said. "Great. I reach office at 9:30." He stated, "My breakfast isn't ready nor is my wife!" he said pissed.

Khushi looked at her watch and bit her tongue. "Give me 2 minutes!" she said rushing back into the room. Arnav sighed. And they expect me to have the ASR effect again - with me going late to office? Are you serious?'

Khushi was dressed and so was Anjali. The cook had prepared an omelet at such short notice but was still happy to see her boss back on routine.

"Can I come along with you'll?" Anjali asked.

Arnav looked at her, then at Khushi, whose face was neutral and then said, "What will you do there?"

"What will I do at home?"

"It's okay. You can come. We'll drop Arnav off and then I'll show you around, sounds good?"

"Superb!" Anjali commented.

Khushi smiled but Arnav frowned.

All the way to office, Khushi just looked at Arnav. Black suit, white shirt, black pants and a black tie. She had missed it. She never thought she's be saying things but she had really missed her old boring husband who was always punctual for work but always late coming home!

"Khushi?" Arnav said.

"Ya?"

"What time is the physiotherapist coming?" he asked.

"Oh! I forgot to call him. Should I just ask him to come to office?"

"Are you kidding me?" Arnav said. "You want me to practice walking in office? No. Call him at home around 7 today!"

"Arnav you won't reach home by 7. I know you'll never finish your work."

"I will Khushi, I will barely have any work!"

"Fine. As you wish. You better come by 7 then."

"Yes, I will."

At office everyone murmured as Arnav wheeled himself to his old cabin. It was just as he had left it, only a little messier thanks to Khushi who left a lot of work pending.

"How the hell do you do paperwork?" Khushi said as she entered the cabin.

"I know it's a little boring!" he said.

"A little?" Khushi said widened her eyes.

Arnav chuckled.

"Paperwork is kind of sad." Anjali said lost in her own thoughts.

Khushi was slightly worried about the employees reaction towards Arnav joining office. They had all seemed really shocked when Arnav came to office.

Mr. Sinha entered the cabin.

"Welcome back boss!" he said greeting Arnav. "Thank you." He said smiling a little.

The word boss' had a nice click to it.

"Mr. Sinha," Arnav said taking charge, "I want all updates on whatever I've missed, everything should be on my desk in one hour. I'm just going to catch up today." He ordered.

"I guess ASR's set here." Anjali said smiling. Khushi smiled back.

"Let's go?" Anjali asked.

"Arnav you'll be fine?" Khushi asked.

"I feel good. I think I'll be fine." He said resting back on his armchair. Leaving the wheelchair was bliss. Sitting on his seat was good. It felt like he was sitting on a thrown.

Khushi and Anjali left.

Khushi and Anjali had just left the building when NK called.

"Hey!" he said, "Already at work?"

"ASR has taken over. I'm off now, going to show Anjali around!"

"Really?"

"Yes, want to come?"

"What are you'll doing?"

"Something! Anyway, you tell me, what's up?"

"Nothing, I need a favour. Can you speak to Sahana? She is seeing this guy and I'm just not happy about it! She doesn't get it."

"What?"

"Yes, she thinks she's right and I'm being unreasonable!"

"NK! She is growing up, did you atleast meet him?"

"I didn't need to! His name is Carter Cameron, some new British guy at their school!"

"See, that's why she doesn't listen to you! You've got to give her a chance to make her choices!"

"I don't understand all this Khushi, can you please meet her for sometime and then carry on?"

"Okay." Khushi sighed.

"Anjali, we'll just have to stop by NK's place first."

"Oh. Alright. It sounded serious."

"It is. There are two kids living alone, someone's got to be the parent!" Khushi winked.

"What about NK's wife?" Anjali asked. That's when Khushi told her the whole story about how NK's wife expired and how he took care of Sahana.

"Thanks for coming!" he said as they entered the house.

"Hi Anjali!" NK said. Anjali shook hands with him again.

"Look, I'm just going to get some food for you'll just talk to her!"

"You don't need to!" Anjali said being polite.

"Ofcourse I do!" he said smiling back.

"Hi Sahana!" Khushi said knocking at her door.

"Hi Aunty!" she chirped. "How are you? Long time no see!" She said.

"This is Anjali, my friend!" she introduced.

"Hi Sahana," Anjali said.

Anjali smiled.

"So, what's been going on with the British guy, eh? Your dad's been worried!" Khushi started.

"Oh. So that's why you're here. Another intervention huh? He's never changing!" Sahana said shaking her head in exasperation.

"Don't you think he's a little old to change?" Anjali added.

Both Khushi and Sahana looked equally shocked. "I'm sorry, I just-- I mean-- Your father has always been the same. He has loved you and you only and seeing you drift away is scaring him, isn't it obvious?" Anjali said.

"Excuse me? What do you even know about my dad?" Sahana retorted.

"Nothing really. All I know is that he loves you enough to care about your safety more than his own life. And if things go off between the two of you now, it's going to get worse when you try and bridge your differences later. And plus He just wants to make sure you're okay."

"I AM OKAY! He needs to understand too. Mom is gone yes but I have my life too."

"Look Sahana," Khushi said, "Your dad has done everything he can to give you the best! Now if he's having a problem understanding you, you need to help him out. Not fight with him!" Khushi said.

"I am willing to talk but all he says is stay away from Carter."

"Talk it through with him." Anjali said. "I'm sure he'll listen. And I'm sure Khushi will drill some sense into him as well." Anjali said.

After leaving her room Anjali apologized for speaking where she shouldn't have. "I'm sorry Khushi, I shouldn't have spoke in between."

"It's fine. It seemed like you spoke from experience?" Khushi asked.

Anjali nodded.

"My mother died when I was young. It was always dad and me and my step mom ofcourse so I sort of understand what Sahana feels like. But I was arrogant. I hated my step-mom and I thought my dad loved her more than me. He tried to protect me and I kept moving away. Now, he's dead and I wasn't even with him in his last days. I always tried to change him not realizing that he wouldn't change now, he couldn't. So yes, I have some experience." Anjali said with tears in her eyes.

"NK!" Khushi gasped.

NK stood at the door with tears in his eyes. "What the..." Khushi said.

"Sorry, I could just imagine Sahana moving away and--"That won't happen." Anjali consoled.

"Just try and understand her. Just give her a chance to make her own choices. If she falls, you'll be there, if you don't let her fall she'll keep blaming you for the rocks in her way." Anjali said.

NK was quiet and so was Khushi, things had got a little too emotional here when her phone rang. It was Arnav.

"Hi," he said. "Hi," Khushi replied. "What about my lunch?" he asked.

"I've asked the cook to send you lunch! I'm sure you're busy."

"Yes, I am. Listen, I called to ask you where you've kept the other project files? The Mittal ones!"

"Those are in the right-hand side cupcoard. Check."

"Okay fine. And Khushi," he added, "Thank you." He said humbly.

Khushi smiled too. She knew that he needed this. Now more than ever. This would be his strength.

"See you at 7, you said?" she asked.

"Okay fine. Make that 8:30."

"I've told the therapist 9, just FYI." Khushi laughed.

"Khushi," he said.

"What?" she asked.

"I love you!"

Great chapter😃

First of all I loved the chapter's name very much, 'The ASR' Finally my ASR is back, not completely though. Punctual ASR waiting for his breakfast, screaming and yelling at people for being late, this is real ASR 😳 I was missing him so much...!!

LOL Khushi made is cabin messier, Mr. perfectionist. I liked the way his employees welcomed him, boss, it sounds great😃

Arnav must be feeling great sitting on his chair, leaving that wheel chair. He is gradually coming back to his original life, all thanks to Khushi.

I just love NK's character in this story, the way he supports Khushi and ASR is remarkable. He is facing some issues regarding his daughters new boyfriend. It happens sometimes when neither children nor parents could understand each other's POV. These issues should be deal carefully. NK called Khushi. Whatever Khushi and Anjali said was correct.

I like that Anjali spoke. Sometimes people cannot just sit back and see others committing the same mistake they had done at some point of their life.

LOL Khushi called therapist at 9, she knows him well😆

Bas ab make Arnav walk soon, can't wait to see him walk😃
