Chapter#27

As Arnav had said those words, Khushi stopped right in her tracks. She turned a little and looked at Arnav with big wide eyes.

By the time Arnav realized what he had said he knew he can't take his words back and he really did mean them by heart. As he looked at Khushi from head to toe, Khushi had managed to speak a few words.

"I... what?" -Khushi said in a whisper. Arnav looked back in her eyes which had confusion written in them. He wanted to say a few words. He somehow wanted to justify himself but he let it be. In the next second he turned to the wash-room and shut him self in there leaving a wondering Khushi outside.

Khushi kept standing there for some time, wondering if what had happened was real or not. She couldn't believe if her Laad-governor had actually complimented her. Khushi giggled to herself when suddenly Hp had come to ask her to come down, bringing her out of her thoughts.

When Khushi had stepped downstairs, she heard gasps and everything became quite. When she nervously looked up, she found everyone staring at her. But then all the eyes went behind her and then she knew who it could be. It was him.

He wore white dress shirt with a whole black suit, with a matching black tie. His hair was gelled back and that light five o'clock gave him the perfect business man look.

Arnav came and stood right beside her and slide his arm around her waist as they walked down the stairs. Khushi felt as her body was not in her command anymore, she had somehow frozen.But why was he doing this? What was all this change for? Khushi had thought but had let it be. She wanted to enjoy this. And somehow she knew most of this was because of Rehan. Arnav was certainly jealous.

After they had gotten down the stairs, both of them had received compliments. Most of them were like, you're such a lovely couple, and may you both always stay together. Khushi had abundantly blushed at the comment which didn't go unnoticed by Arnav.

After meeting almost everybody Khushi had dispersed into the crowd leaving alone Arnav with his business talks. Khushi had straight gone to Nk, to tell him that the plan had kind of worked. Khushi was happy, finally feeling satisfied. When she was happy two other people were satisfied to see her .i.e. Nk and Rehan. As the part one of the plans had worked, the three of them had started to work on part two.

Couples had started to sway to the soft music playing in the background. Taking this opportunity, Rehan had asked Khushi for a dance.

"Khushi, would you dance with me?" -Rehan asked as he offered her his hand. Nk had made sure Arnav saw this.

"Of-course why not." - Khushi smiled and kept her hand on Rehan's. This had fumed Arnav. He wanted to snatch Khushi away from that guy. He wanted to take her and hide her away from the world and claim her as his and not let anyone touch her. Nk had kept Arnav busy in talks but Arnav had his eyes glued to Khushi. She smiled, laughed and talked to him as if she weren't ever married.

"Do I smell... jealousy?" -Nk asked as he looked at Arnav curiously.

"Shut-up, Nk." - Arnav gritted his teeth. It had been a few minutes now. His hand on her waist, their closeness was bothering him so much that he wanted to scream. Just as Nk was about to say something further, Arnav walked away from him.

He was headed to Rehan and Khushi. He cleared his throat just as he reached Rehan's back.

"My turn." - Arnav curtly said.

Rehan quickly took a step back and Arnav took his place. Khushi had just looked at the scene in front of her with wide eyes. Khushi was very sure that he was jealous. She smiled inwardly but had a straight face on the outside. As they gently swayed to the music, Arnav held her close. Their bodies had perfectly fit together. But soon the dinner had been announced and Arnav had to part away from her with great difficulty.

Khushi had fully ignored Arnav. Wherever Khushi had went he had followed by keeping a distance, he was always behind her. Khushi had escaped outside to the garden when Arnav was held up by some client.

When he looked around the room, the same restlessness he had been feeling since some hours now had come back. A fear of loosing her. Arnav had thought about this, since when did he have that fear? Arnav Singh Raizada never feared anything but this one thing was eating him inside. He looked around for her but he couldn't her.

He finally went outside to see if she was there and that's when he saw Rehan and Khushi laughing together. There was no anger, but guilt. I could never make her laugh like that. Arnav had thought.

Suddenly the little hope he had, had disappeared. He felt as if his heart had been punched or it had broken into a trizillion pieces.

It's my entire fault. Arnav gritted his teeth and thought. I let her go. I am the reason she doesn't even smile in front of me. I made her hate myself. She deserves someone so much better. Arnav's shoulders slumped and he was about to turn away when he saw Nk with his hands folded and leaning against one of the pillars.

"You feel bad, don't you?" -Nk softly said.

"I... I don't know..." -Arnav said as he put his hands inside his pockets and took out his cigarette.

"Now you know how she felt when she saw you with Lavanya." - Nk said. Arnav looked up to see Khushi, she was still laughing.

"It's no point now. I'll free her. She doesn't deserve me or this. Khushi deserves much, much better." -Arnav said as she looked up at the dark, midnight sky.

"You can't give up." -Nk said suddenly becoming alert.

"There's nothing that I can do..." -Arnav said.

"You can win her back." -Nk said as he brightly smiled at him and patted his back. "I'll tell you everything." -Nk said as he started whispering ideas into Arnav's ear.

Finally, I'll be active. ^_^ Got rid of exams and now I'm free. But I still have school. :/ So did you dolls miss me? :') I hope it's a long update? I wrote it a few weeks back so I don't remember what this is. :P Lol. And for those who read the other stories I write, I'm in the process of writing them so I might.. might update by tonight or tomorrow. Okay? Love you dolls! ^_^ Have a nice Diwali. :D
