Welcome to the split personality club, of which I am the founder president! I have been trying to get a rise out of Kunchu by trotting out this theory for several weeks now, if not months. She is as tight-lipped as a clam!

I see from the thread that I wrote to her about her Part 16, on October 8, as follows:

You have introduced a new, dark mystery, in the message on Shaleen's mobile that triggers an anxiety attack and leads to a blackout, as his mind is readied for Arjun to take it, and his body, over for a while. But if this take of mine is anywhere near correct, where does something as corporeal as the message come from? An avenging spirit that needs another's physical being to mete out much needed justice cannot be sending SMSes or MMSes to that person. Well, I shall wait for this puzzle to be cleared up in due course.

But perhaps my clearest exposition of my pet theory was even earlier, on August 31, I had commented on Part 11 as follows:


The end para is the most tantalising, in that it obviously seeks to confirm that Shaleen and the mysterious personage, who has to be Arjun, are two distinct entities.

This, however is, I am convinced, a red herring, My own take is that Arjun is Shaleen's alter ego, who seeks to make up for Shaleen's obvious failure when it comes to helping persons in desperate need of help against vile thugs like the Minister. He resides in Shaleen's body and uses his mind, like a tenant.

This is classic multiple personality disorder, where the main personality, in this case Shaleen, has no idea of the existence of the second personality, Arjun, and cannot control when Arjun takes over his body, nor when he would hand Shaleen's body and personality back to him.

Unhampered by any of the factors that hold Shaleen back, Arjun can act, and he does act, decisively, to mete out swift and fitting justice where the law would be unable to do so, like one of Edgar Wallace's famous The Four Just Men, or the other vigilante crime-fighters of literature.

So, it would be natural for this Arjun to speak of Shaleen as another person. and to say that he is sleeping. Yes, he would be sleeping. but in the compartment of Shaleen's mind where he resides all the time, while Arjun is using both Shaleen's body and Shaleen's mind for a while.

Let me see, as your Adhuri Kahani develops, how far my interpretation holds water.
