Chapter-25:
Goa,
1:30 am.
"It is a very low equipped hospital Arnav, there are hardly any CC cameras. Fetching recorded footage of every camera is proving to be so impossible, and the security maintenance there sucks-------"
"-------- that explains how a patient could walk up to the terrace in the middle of the night"
"Right, listen Arnav----"
"Common Jiju, you could do better than this, its been more than two weeks that I asked you to do something-----"
"Working with your investigators, making sure of no police intruding; you know how it is Arnav!"
He heard his brother in law sigh in exasperation as he clutched the bed-side phone more close to his ear, noticing a small movement in the other side of his bed. "---- Look Arnav, can we talk when it would be civil for the both of us? I have a pregnant woman snoring right into my ears!"
"I don't care! Details about Akash singhania?"
"Selfish moron! Did I not tell you? You are looking too much into that incident, it could be that she might have just freaked out------"
"No! She did not!! I could see it in her eyes, it was him she was scared of, not the almost clash, I can bet my life on it!"
"Sh! Don't yell, that might cause me to yell as well, and you might end up answering questions about not answering calls of your sassy sister-------" he whispered getting up from the bed finally and he walked towards the bed-side window, looking out at the sea, his eyes zoning out thoughtfully.
"May be we could stalk all the available footage from the hospital as long as Khushi stayed there before she fell from the building------"
"Now that's the smart lawyer brain I was looking for, but don't give up on the footage of that very day as well, maybe you missed out some areas"
Shyam just rolled his eyes and remained silent. "Try stalking Akash Singhania Shyam, there sure is a clue there, at least it would be a start, I guess..."
"Why don't you try asking her?"
"Come take a look at her right now Jiju, I don't think you would ever even want to know what happened with her, her nightmares are bad enough------" he heard Arnav pause taking another sigh, and Shyam smiled in that knowing way. His saale-sahb, is a goner, big time!
"If I dint know for sure that she is in some kind of danger, this...this is all not really needed, you know, I could just..."
"It's alright Arnav, we will get there, just be alright yeah?"
"----And you! Next time, don't sneak out from my pregnant sister this late in the night; drop me a voice message if I don't pick up your call, is she doing alright?"
Shyam chuckled causing Arnav to smile at the other end of the line, "Yes, although you talking to her once would add to her chubbiness"

London,
8:00pm.
Arnav laughed, throwing a look at Khushi's room, finding the door still closed, he turned around continuing with his shuffling of his things on his little work-table at the end of the hall-way.
"Has she put on weight?"
"Uh-huh------"
"-----And are you complaining about it?"
"I dare not!"
"Good that you know as much"
He heard Shyam laugh again and he finally settled himself on the chair, popping his head into his palm resting on the table, as his other hand ran along the mess of his hair. "I'll get back to you soon" Shyam said, just when Arnav heard the sound of the door being opened in the distance. He quickly dismissed Shyam and hanged up the call, before turning his attention to the open screen of his lap-top on his work table.
**
The next time when he heard the loud sound of the door being closed again, he felt like he had been wandering in a world filled with designs and many more add designs and only add graphical designs. Suddenly tired, having been disturbed effectively, as his mind craved for some rest, more so, as his senses yearned to feel her presence, he turned around, only to find her staring back at him, her big hazels pointedly accusing him, her hands folded across her stomach and her lips in a thin straight line, all in all she looked like the perfect power house, ready to explode any moment.
"What's wrong?" he asked turning around in his revolving chair, arching his one hand elbow over the head of the chair.
"You! You are wrong! And I hate that what's wrong' nonchalant voice!" she imitated him all too dramatically, nodding her head along with her words and he burst out into peals of small laughter. Processing her steady pointed gaze, he sobered up and walked towards her, only to find her, flip her head away from his view, as she turned around and walked into the kitchen causing him to smirk in that confused way.
"Khushi---wha-------"
"Do you know I'm having a really very good time here!"
"You are?" he asked following right behind her into the kitchen as she walked with fast purposeful steps her stance completely letting him know about her fury.
"Of course!" she said as she fetched a water from below the kitchen counter and placed it on the counter with a bang sound causing Arnav squirm a little along with the sound. "You have a lovely sophisticated Kitchen!"
"Uh-uh"
"I'm just in love with this black glassy platform, the shiny, smooth cupboards, this oven, this electric stove, the --------" she went on fetching other things from the cupboards, continuing to make audible sounds much more than needed, as Arnav smirked internally observing her little antics.
"Oh your TV room is so beautiful Arnav, I can't even begin to explain how much fun I have sitting there all day and browsing through all those wonderful channels" her voice was dipped in sarcasm as she worked not shifting her attention from making coffee, the aroma of which already filled his senses, taking him back to the little restaurant sit-out in Goa, and he just looked on lost in a completely different trance of world, amused as well as bestowed.
"And did I tell you Arnav, my room, looks like the epitome of nature dipped beauty, with those blue curtains almost covering all of the big-glass door, occupying half of the room, nothing really existing outside of it and the super colorful, I mean brown plain wardrobe filling other part of the room------ oh and with lot of unwanted clothes inside it-------" she placed two mugs in front of him. Beginning to pour coffee, with little alerting sound, causing him to flicker his eyes to her, and she exactly looked up to throw those accusing pointed daggers directly at him.
She then walked taking her own coffee mug into the hall way swaying her hips, taking purposeful long strides and as she walked around his little apartment dramatically, he had this sudden glimpse of domesticity teasing his eyes. He looked on, observing her presence around him, her aura teasing his senses and even as he collected his own mug from the platform and followed her, he found himself completely mesmerized or rather thrilled at the mere realization of having her around him. If this is what it is called, living with a girl is...!
"This lovely round and round stair-case that leads towards such spectacular door which should remain close, oh and this lovely biggest Television ever Arnav!" she exclaimed all too dramatically walking around the stair-case towards the river-view glass wall.
"Television?" he just said, throwing a look back at the flat screen in his living sit-out towards the opposite end of where she was walking.
"Oh you dint know? What else is this called? A thing that shows distant clear perfect image of scenery? ? Oh may be this is a poster actually! Wow such a lovely poster-------"
"Okay stop stop!" he said finally getting the reason behind her senseless blabber, completely just as she plopped herself in the high-cushioned revolving chair arranged just beside the glass wall, a small table across which stood another high-end sofa over which he simultaneously got seated.
"Is it supposed to be a bar-setup here?" she suddenly said referring to closet space lying empty at other end of the glass wall.
"How did you guess?" She just shrugged sipping on her coffee, looking at him from the rim of her mug.
"Every time I stay here I just cannot spare time to complete that piece of construction-------"
"Oh! Right how the hell did I forget! The ever so busy Mr.Raizada, did I tell you again? I just love your ever so cozy pent-house apartment in this awesome part of the city in such ridiculously awesome climate, with only best colors known to man-kind around me--------"
Her blabber was abruptly interrupted as she found herself being dragged as she was seated in her revolving chair, as her legs were tugged under her bottom, she found herself uncontrollably being dragged towards him with his toe effortlessly pulling her chair. She held her coffee mug firmly placing her palm over it in a reflex action, as her eyes went wide filling her once-----all in quick few impulsive moments.
"Arnav---my coffee!"
"Shh, shh, why do you talk so much!?" he said as his both legs went to grip the sides of her chair, as her legs folded below her remained captivated and he effectively locked her inside his periphery.
"Oh now I talk much! Right! Now what the hell am I supposed to do with the only human being available on the planet, who apparently speaks only with his laptop screen, actually you play dumb-charades with it, don't you?"
"What?" he said his voice giving away into a chuckle as his eye-brows creased in, his lips smirking at her.
"--------And I don't like my coffee turning cold like this" she said and before he could answer that, she continued sipping on her coffee, with his adoring gaze boring right into her stance, quite oblivious to her.
"It's dumb charades, it's like-------oh forget it Arnav! The point is, you are just freaking me out!! If keeping me grounded is all what you want to do, you could have done it back there you know? You could appoint few of your security guards around me"
"You're funny!" he laughed it off.
"This is not funny!--------"
"Okay, alright, I get it completely, I understand okay? Let me take you out tonight?"
"------After I literally beg you for it? No Thank you!" she snapped and turned her head away from him to her one side. He then brought his fingers to the side of her face and turned her head to face him.
"Don't turn your head on me!" he said stressing his words, quite seriously.
"And why should I not?" she said completing her coffee finally as she placed her mug on the near-by table. He placed his half completed coffee mug too, and bent down in his chair to meet her face.
"Because it annoys me!"
"Oh it does! What else annoys you Mr.Raizda, let me exactly do that--------" she said using her hands along with her words.
"What's with the attitude Missy!?" he asked quite confused.
"I have every right to show my attitude, because I'm being ignored in your own apartment!!" she exclaimed and he couldn't quite figure out if he was amused by her attitude of if he was amused because she was upset with his ignorance as weird as it sounds, he was amused nevertheless and his instant curving of lips despite her efforts to give him cold glare, said it all.
He leaned in instantly causing her to lean back and looked on into her hazels that right now looked at him with what seemed like an annoyed expression even as another smirk made its way onto his lips. "You are one hell of a feisty, crazy stubborn woman, you know that?"
He said exactly the same kind of words he had once said before, she recalled and even as she did so, it only irked her more. She brought her both hands to place on his chest and gently pushed him away and in process moving away from his captivating stance and getting up, all in quick abrupt movements.
"Okay so now you call me names-------" she threw her hands in air.
"Khushi-----" he got up instantly catching up with her, as he turned her around gently tugging at her wrist.
"You should have known Arnav, that this feisty, stubborn one is only good as long as she is asleep or unconscious or rather in coma-----------"
"Sh!! Shut up!" he snapped instantly clenching his teeth, causing her to eat her words abruptly as he tugged at her wrist a bit too tightly.
"Uh, I-------"
"It feels like you push me off the cliff and yet hold me to keep me hanging in there-------" he whispered gently pulling her inside his arm.
"I don't think that's a good thing then"
"For a wanna be philosophy lecturer, you seem quite perceptive"
"I'm sorry----" she whispered reflexively stepping a bit into his proximity and as her aura teased him yet again, he found himself drowning into deep desires.
"I'm human too------" he whispered, closing his eyes noticing her breathing setting into the familiar unevenness, letting him know the affect he has on her.
"Why do you say that?" she whispered too, her hand instantly finding a place at his elbow, not quite listening to her mind, which even seemed in a different trance altogether, her stance suddenly changing sides.
"I might have fears too"
"Like?"
"You don't generally use perfume, do you?
She blinked her eyes, finally coming out of her little trance as she looked up to meet those very molten orbs, that was filled with raw desire causing her to gulp. "uh, I...I do..dont, no, the last time I used--------"
"But you are using one today?"
"---uh"huh"
"It scares me"
"huh?"
"I might end up doing things which you might not really appreciate"
"Arnav-------"
"And so I'm scared too, it's only human, do you want me to face my fear in your own way too?" he said making light of the moment and she giggled in his embrace causing his eyes to twitch in that smiling way.
"Thank you for the heads-up I'll keep that in my mind" she joked too, looking up at him teasingly.
"You drive me insanely crazy!"
"I hope in a good way"
"I guess so"
Their eyes met, yet again in that familiar captivating way and they looked at each other, smiling with just their orbs communicating through them all the unsaid words as even as gaze lingered a moment longer between her eyes and her lips--------even as he noticed a soft glow of crimson making its way on her cheeks, he found himself leaning in, his head angling on its own accord. And when he noticed her head lifting up a little, her closed eyes, her parted lips, it was like his senses no longer intended to listen to him. But to just be sure, he paused, his breathing almost rushing to fan her senses as he waited giving her time and space, only to find her abruptly bend her head causing him to land his lips on her forehead.
And instead of pulling away, she encircled her hands around him and he couldn't help but plant a kiss on the side of her face pulling her more into his embrace. It felt right and it felt intact. It felt complete and it felt like coming back home to the exact domesticity he was feeling the whole evening.
"Where do you want to go?" he asked bending down close to her ear.
"Uh, just to some street-food stall?"
He chuckled resting his head on that of hers --------- "Okay, but do you have something warm to where? We will surely go shopping in the morning"
"We will see that Mr.Workaholic, for now, I have your jacket"
And they laughed together, the sounds of their laughter lingering around the cozy apartment, quite oblivious to small, low clicking sounds of camera, distantly from one of the slightly opened window door and once done, out came the hand of Akash Singhania, who extracted the phone away from window, turning around abruptly in the apartment corridor, as he fastened his long leather coat around him, he quickly made his way towards the elevators, clutching the same phone to his ear.
"Boss, I've sent you the pictures"
