Yes Boss: Part 3 Asad had just returned to his cabin and settled down on his chair after lunch when his cabin door swung open without warning, making him jump a little at the suddenness of it. A rather plump man burst in, with a short young women following close behind him. Prasad was following them in too, with a string of protests as he tried to stop the duo.
"Prasad! Yeh kaisi badtameezi hai?! Excuse me, aap log kaun ho? Aur aise knock kiye bina hi andar kaise guss aaye?" Asad asked sternly as he addressed the intruders. The man raised an eyebrow at him and proceeded to sit down on the chair across Asad's desk without being asked.
"Dhurandar Bhatawdekar, Senior Immigration Officer, Immigration Office of India," the man announced stoically as he flashed his badge at Asad's face. Asad squinted as he took a look at the badge, highly intrigued at the fact that the logo on it looked a lot like the Mozilla Firefox one.
"Accha! I'm sorry Mr Bhatawdekar, I didn't realize. How may I help you? Koi problem hai kya?" Asad asked, his tone suddenly soft and polite as he feigned ignorance. He switched his gaze to his table as he tried to avoid looking at Prasad's highly amused one.
"Main kaide plus kanoon ka bohut hi sakht aadmi hoon. So I hope you answer all my questions truthfully, nahi toh aap ke liye hi bura ho sakta hai. Zoya Farooqui yahan pe kaam karti hai ya nahi?" Mr Bhatawdekar asked, without wasting another second on small talk. Asad tried his hardest to wear a look of surprise on his face as he nodded, a small smile forming on his face.
"Jee, Miss Farooqui meri admin head Miss Mishra ki assistant hai. Aap unse milne chahte hai?" Asad replied, as he tried to cut the questioning short and send him directly to Zoya. Lying was certainly not his forte, and he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep it up.
"Dolly, note karo. Assistant? Par yahan pe likha hai ke Miss Zoya Farooqui Dilshaad Constructions mein as a researcher kaam karti hai?" Mr Bhatawdekar instructed the lady standing next to him before continuing his interrogation. Asad swallowed nervously, as he racked his brains for a proper answer to that.
"Jee woh Miss Mishra ki RESEARCH assistant hai. She researches on better... administrative tools that the company can use," Asad said, biting his lower lip as he assessed the stupidity of his own answer. Mr Bhatawdekar stared at him with a look of confusion, before nudging his assistant Dolly to note down Asad's answer again. Dolly seemed to be rather distracted, staring at Asad with moony eyes.
"Theek hai. And how long has she been working here?" Mr Bhatawdekar asked, as he began to rise from his chair. Asad flashed another fake smile as he turned to his laptop and scrolled around aimlessly, buying time as he tried to think of an answer.
"Sorry, I had to check on my database because I can't remember the employment periods of all my employees. I have so many you see. But anyway, Miss Farooqui has been working here for the past 3 weeks," Asad lied, as he pretended to read something off his laptop screen. He closed his eyes slowly, realizing that he shouldn't have said so much. The more someone talks, the more evident it is that he is making stuff up.
"3 weeks? And she only decided to make the necessary changes on her visa papers 3 days ago? May I know why?" Mr Bhatawdekar asked, as he paced Asad's cabin slowly, Dolly following his every footstep directly behind him. Asad opened his mouth to answer, and then thought of something better.
"Mr Bhatawdekar, how would I know about my employees' personal matters? All I know about her are her employment details. Why she didn't update her visa papers earlier, you'll have to ask her yourself. Prasad, please lead Mr Bhatawdekar and Miss Dolly to Miss Mishra's cabin," Asad concluded, as he rose up from his chair and walked over to his cabin door. He held it open as he waited for Mr Bhatawdekar and Dolly to walk out of the door. Once they were out, an immensely smug Prasad followed suit, just to be met with a scorching glare from his boss, wiping the look of his face immediately.
Asad walked out of his cabin as well and waited for the three of them to walk a safe distance away before whipping out his phone and dialling Zoya's number. He had to inform her about all the ridiculous lies he had said before Mr Bhatawdekar got to her and extracted a different set of answers from her, confirming his belief that this was all a big lie.
Asad tried Zoya's number a few times, but all he got was a busy tone. He looked up from his phone screen to see Prasad open Anu's cabin door, as he ushered Mr Bhatawdekar and Dolly into it. He cringed as he saw the door shut behind them, and then massaged his temples in worry. How was he going to inform Zoya now?
XXX
Yeah I know, no Zoya in the part. But with Mr Bhatawdekar around, you don't even need other characters :p
