Res, ek baar phir.

Edit:

This has to be one of the best first-glimpse rabba ves, bas. I just loved that whole part where they are staring at each other from opposite trains!
But I'm getting ahead of myself here, let's begin from the beginning.

I like how you set the scene and tell us all about what's going on in your protagonist's life in just a paragraph or two. I found this Khushi and her issues so very relatable and real!
And in the midst of her agitation , we have a blast from the past! I like how this tale was told in flashbacks first.

And what a flashback it was! Like I said earlier, I love how you made them meet, without really meeting. The description of the Mumbai locals was amazing, and I do think this is one of your strong points: the ability to transport us to the exact place and imagine ourselves there, hanging on to a train pole and staring at the couple who smile across the platforms at each other!
I liked the gradual thaw in Khushi as she goes from ignoring him to hesitantly returning his smile. That instance where she's having a bad day and he's concerned is the non-verbal tum theek ho that only you could have written!

I was really, really hoping that she would speak up when they bumped into each other. But I guess destiny (and you) had other plans for them!

And so, 10 years later, CST slow and the Stud meet at the airport. I have to tell you, this was one of my absolute favorite A-K conversations. I loved it!
Talking about mothers, marriage, siblings, careers (LOL at the engineering hierarchy!)...everything was just so natural, and meant to be!

And the wonderful ending where they decide to exchange numbers just made me sigh. Not everyone gets a second chance, and Khushi realizes this fact and takes a step towards what makes her happy.

And us, as well.

Because this was a fun, entertaining, hopeful, romantic tale, and I just loved it!

So here's to trains, Saathiya, and taking risks, ek baar phir! (LOL at that flight too!)

Res haha
First things first - Mechanical Engineering rocks, Okay. Mr. Sound Engineer, mike testing 1..2..3..better get that straight.

But sigh. Who am I kidding - the bad boy who plays the guitar / in the college band, doesn't hesitate to smirk and stare back but knows it can be creepy to walk up to a girl, is not ashamed to admit he is scared of being beaten up in the Ladies Compartment, imitates his father's Punjabi accent that well, thinks an occasional fight is healthy...God turn back time and make me 21 again so that I can meet this guy first :P

The Alaipayuthey / Saathiya inspiration pulled me in right away (well if you are fan like me, there is no other way:P) {though stories that begin at airports have never augured well for me ;)} And then there is the Mumbai local fascination we share. Again, I've traveled that way less than a handful of times and almost always during non peak hours. So I am not the true measure here. But I love the setting - the sheer vibrancy of life that goes on in those mobile monstrosities. Someday, watch Baton Baton Mein (Amol Palekar and Tina Munim) if you haven't - that movie does full justice to Mumbai locals of that time my parents swear.

As always, it was a fun story to read, Sem. The conversation was lively and entertaining - something I think many of us can relate to so easily - especially because this Khushi is so real - just another simple girl - software engineer at that...there's half of India who understands this girl :D

Awesome story...
I have never been in train but your description of train station, hustle bustle, trains everything fascinated me... Now i want to experience this once at least... Love it...
The journey of two strangers where they didn't even know each other names yet connect to each other...
Loved their conversation both through eyes and through words...
Loved it...

Kehte hain res karne se pyaar barta hain! Kya aaj aapne apka place reserve kiya?! Maine kiya! 😆

---Edited---

(I loved the banner!!!)

Finally I am here! And boy am I thrilled!

I think this particular story strikes a chord with all of us. Haven't we all come across similar situations like that of Khushi time and again?
Frequenting a place almost regularly and meeting the same person over and over again, we develop a silent companionship over time, but never take up the courage to go and talk. We acknowledge each other's presence and sudden absences make us anxious so much that we wonder what might've happened. And just like that they are gone! And all that remains are memories of silent conversations and stolen glances with a stranger.

And the pure shock and amazement on Khushi and Arnav's faces having met after 10 years, there is an air of familiarity, one that wasn't developed over long, unwinding conversations, but of silent speeches and acknowledging nervous glances. And the conversation that ensued was as real as it could be. Topics covering one's own views and relationships, family, nephews and nieces, pressures and challenges, travels and ventures, and laughs and jokes and smirks and glares. . . . . and old times and unraveling questions. . . It was as if coming home to an old friend! That's Diwali for you!

Give me your phone number and I'll beat you down if you dare to disappear again! The comfort level they share, yes, it is as real as it could be!

"Her mother would just have to introduce someone else to Tarun Kelkar." Yes, because "what if's" aren't an option anymore!

There are certain moments where I think taking a leap of courage, knowing there isn't any harm in doing so, is worth it all! Because regretting suck big time!

I think this is my second most favorite tale after Tale of Firsts!

Thanks S for writing such a tale that we could relate to and enjoy as well! 🤗 A brilliant masterpiece as usual! 👏

P.S: Arnav is a cool and happy-go-lucky guy, as hard it is for me to imagine! And that line about Khushi not being his friend in the past because his parents would always point out to him, which human being wouldn't throw in a statement as that to pals meeting after years? (In this case, they were the Stud and the CST Slow!) You had me at that! I loved it!

P.P.S: Oh, and that Flight EBP cracked me up for some reason! Nope, I'm not over it yet!!!

P.P.P.S: Waise unres karne se aur pyaar badtha hain!!! 😆 Waiting for more SJ tales and "RESERVATIONS" Trains and seats!!!

Sem...I am totally in love with this story...

I think Saathiya would have been even better film if they would have taken inspiration from your story...👏👏👏...
I am no writer and I have my limitations to put my feelings into the words to do justice to something as wonderful as this...but believe me there is a lot I want to say regarding this story...
It was so very heart warming...

Firstly I will start with Flight no. EBP 5739...seriously...ek bar phir...😆...

Khushi in this story reflected the today's Indian working women who reach/cross their marriage age(so called)...no body here is to believe that a single women can be as happy as her married counterparts...

I can never believe that anyone can make Mumbai local trains so romantic...but U did it...👏...kudos to u...before reading this tale I always thought them as worst nightmare I could have about a city...I have only been to Mumbai couple of times...and travelled in local 3-4 times...but I was so flabbergasted by the crowd and the daily chaos, that I swore that even if I get selected in the exam I wouldn't be joining there...But Sem, U changed that...now if any one would mention it I will always think of this story...I don't know how u do it but U have the knack of bringing the most extraordinary things out of very ordinary things...👏...

Loved every bit about the A and K's silent and vocal convos...

Loved all the local train set up and their impromptu meetings...

Loved how u transported Khushi into the past on hearing Arnav's voice...she was enveloped in thick humidity that made her hair frizz and her kurta stick to her back, and the rather unpleasant smell that was a combination of sweaty people and the trademark odour of urine that pervaded in Indian railway stations, while a veritable mass of humanity milled around her...👏👏👏

And most importantly I loved that U gave Khushi a second chance in her life to meet Arnav...come on how many of us are that lucky in our real lives...

"SO I THINK THAT SAPNON KI DUNIYA MEIN REHNA HI ACCHA HAI SEM JI KYUNKI ASLI DUNIYA MEIN DIL TOOT TE HAIN"...

THANK U FOR GIVING ME THIS SKD SEM JI...🤗
