His heart tried to reason with all the possible options his brain was thinking...yes she might be busy...because after her dad's demise all the responsibilities suddenly came on her shoulders, yes she might be too hurt with the loss that she was trying to keep away from everyone...and so on. the final call for the commencement of the meeting were made. He snapped back to reality only when adi asked him to get inside. he sighed...she didn't even tell him that she was coming to Mumbai or even taking part in this event!!! Nevertheless, he was glad that at least she was here and that he might just speak to her once the meeting was over.

Silence filled the air as everyone took to their seats, waiting for the event to start. He watched her sit at the far end of the table with Sasha, discussing something. He just kept watching her lovingly... he was seeing her after 1 week, 3 days and 5 hours now. She was too busy to even notice her surrounding and he was too busy looking at her. his heart felt like it was alive for the first time in the last few days. He just kept watching her lovingly as she spoke, looked into the file...listened to what the delegates were speaking and so on. but he heard none... he never knew what they spoke or what adi suggested or anything for that matter. His eyes and heart was stuck with her.

She did notice a piercing gaze all over her and she did turn to look around and she did see him...looking at her ever so lovingly... waiting for her to at least gesture something so that he could be at peace...his eyes pleading her like never before.. and she just turned away coldly, not even giving a damn to his hope filled eyes. He was hurt... was she mad at him? did he do something wrong? Usually she never stayed this mad at him about anything.. come to think of it, she had never gotten mad at him for any reason whatsoever because they never interfered in each other's lives... then this sudden coldness... it pinched him.

Arjun kept a close eye on them but none seemed to notice him. he smirked...it was better this way. Maan was perhaps the last one to give the presentation. He came out his reverie and walked ahead. Adi was surprised to see maan doing things so mechanically...usually his presentations were just the best and powerful enough to bring people down to their knees but today he was seeing a very different person. He just re-emphasised on the points that had already been mentioned in the presentation. It was shocking to other people as well...but his jaan seemed so far from him today. His eyes were completely on her all through, dying to be blessed with one grace look of hers..but she probably didn't even listen to him at all. She was just too busy in whatever she was doing. He was suddenly feeling so distanced from her today and worst...he didn't even know the reason himself.

He got back to his seat, still contemplating about her behaviour...her coldness towards him and she surprised him by taking the centre stage to give her presentation. He didn't even hear a thing what she said... he didn't even listen what folly she mentioned in his presentation...what strategy she had planned. Adi was completely shocked to hear things from Geet... it was more of what maan might have done if he was in his right senses. He knew Geet handa and maan singh khurana were together but his boss seemed quite lost today... he knew maan was disturbed. But Geet making such valid points... how could his boss miss those things? Come to think of it... he had seen maan quite disturbed the whole week. He leaned closer to maan whispered in his ears, "Sir, do you think theres something wrong here?"

Maan snapped out of his thoughts and tried to focus on what she was saying. She was confident...she was bold and he just knew she had taken over the deal just with her words... not that he minded her speaking about his mistakes... he more prouder to see her excel. He had seen her potential since day 1 and there is no second thought about it. he was suddenly feeling so proud today... there was no mistake... there wasn't a bit of a thing you can point your finger at... she has got things so correctly. He felt so proud recalling those moments when he used to make her understand stuffs when she was stuck somewhere. He just wished to run and hug her tightly... how he wished!!! He was somewhere convincing himself that she was fine and that she just needed some time.

For the first time adi saw maan quite happy when someone snatched away their victory from right under their noses. But then that was the power of love... or so what he thought. He watched maan stand up and clap for her with other delegates...and then e noticed Geet who smiled while being appreciated and being offered the contract papers but what made him think was Geet's indifference to maan. Initially he thought he was over thinking but then Geet didn't even turn to look at him even once!!! anyways he just shouldn't get in between them.

She walked out with Sasha towards her car when she saw him stand in front of his car, waiting for her. she stopped thinking something... he was leaning against his car, with his hands crossed over his chest and that devilish smirk on his lips. She knew it was an indication for her to step into his car... but who cares!!! Her workload suddenly seemed to increase ten folds and now that she was the chairman, she had absolutely no time to waste on him. she'd have gladly broken all his hopes had it not been jazz who drove in, waving at her...gesturing Geet to join them.

Maan noticed her smile seeing jazz and her friends... and he just knew she was meeting up with them after a long time. He smiled... and happily watched her get into the car with jazz. His jaan was happy...thats what he had wished for!!! Its okay if he'd be a little lonely for a while..but then the result would be worth waiting.

The girls drove out towards the city centre as they discussed about Geet's meeting and stuffs.

"so.. Mr lover was waiting for you right. why didn't you go?", jazz asked, laughing.

"jazz... will ya shut up? I just don't care what he does or what he doesn't. Geet handa does what she wishes to."

"but he seems serious baby... who knows he might be falling for you!"

Geet rolled her eyes as she lighted up her cigarette, "really???"

"hmm.. you know...the typical love'...", jazz spoke concentrating on the road.

Geet blew out the smoke and looked out for a while, "so you mean... he is in love with me?"

"hmm... it seems so..."

"gosh...", she made a terrible face, "let him be... coz am not!!! Just don't spoil my big day okay.."

She joined her friends and went out partying the whole day. Yes..that was Geet handa!! She was a free bird and none dared to cage her...not even maan. She wanted a fling... she got it..she had to enjoy.. she enjoyed it... and she needed to move on now..and she will...no matter what! She enjoyed the whole day with her friends...going out for lunch and then a small pool side party at the apartment she was staying. It was around 11pm when she decided to get back. It was quite early but she was tired. She came out of the area and headed towards the main entrance when she heard a very familiar song...she stopped.

She turned back... only to see him stand by his car, with the music player on. he smiled seeing her so much better. She just kept on watching him for a while... as he inched closer and jerked her close. His hands snaked around her waist while he rubbed his nose with hers, "I missed you so much jaan...how are you?"

She felt a little dazed... she blinked a couple of times and looked around. People were giving them weird looks. She breathed in sharply and pushed him away with a jerk and took a step back. He was surprised with that denial in that push and looked at her quizzically, "jaan?"

She rolled her eyes and turned to leave, "lets talk in my room.." and she just walked away.

He was numb seeing her so cold... her push...that coldness in her eyes... somewhere it scared him. he looked around and then tried to convince himself yet again that she might just be conscious of the people around. He tried to keep himself calm and followed her to her suite which was in the first floor itself. He stopped in front of the door and sighed...geet was okay or was she not? He walked in and closed the door behind and looked around for her. he saw her stand by the window and look out. He smiled and hugged her from the back, resting his chin on her shoulder. She flinched with that but he was not in a mood to let go.

"why are you here maan?"

Her cold voice reached his ears... her struggle to free herself was felt with the tension in her body... but he didn't want to believe it. he held her closer and tighter and kissed her neck, "am here for you..."

She struggled harder, "let go of me..."

He pressed himself closer and bit her earlobe, "are you mad at me? Tell me Love... why do you run away from me?"

She hissed with that sensation and closed her eyes. This was getting out of control. she felt his lips trailing a line of kisses down her neck and that was the limit. She put in all her effrt and pushed him away from her. he stumbled backwards and looked at her...shocked...numb!!! his eyes met with her ruthless ones...spitting out fire. He didn't even understand what was going in her mind...was it because of her loss? Was it because she was getting into some kind of depression?

"Geet??? why..."

Ohh he didn't have to complete his sentence when she just spoke out, "before you assume things... let me be clear maan...Its OVER!"

Over?? How could that be??? Why all of a sudden? His entire body seemed to shiver with an unknown rage that filled him, "Over? Whats wrong with you?"

She turned away, "nothing is wrong with me... I just want you to leave me alone!"

He strode across the floor and grabbed her shoulders tightly. His fingers dug into her skin but she didn't even flinch. She just looked directly into his eyes, stating her stand.

"Geet... tell me if something bothers you...tell me if you are hurt... but how can you just..."

She raised her hand to him, indicating him to stop. His heart ached seeing so much of coldness within her...why was she like that?

"maan... just stop it and leave me alone...", she screamed, controlling her anger. His hands dropped down, releasing her. may be she was still hurt within... may be she really wanted some more time...he tried to convince himself yet again.. and took a step back. She turned away and got to her laptop, checking her mails. He stood there for a while and then slowly stepped out. Geet was never like this... never!!! He walked out slowly and drove back to his hotel. He was to leave for delhi in the next 3 hours. He asked adi to take care of everything and drove to the airport. He needed to be alone for a while. he sat on his seat, put o the blanket and closed his eyes.

"its over...", her voice echoed in his ears... how could she just say it? how? He felt his heart aching so much... as he remembered the first time he had met her in the bar...and how she had been courageous enough to play with him right in front of his girlfriend. He felt the corners of his eyes burn...and for the first time he hated himself for not being as cold as Geet... so unaffected by anything!!! Cold... that reminded him the times when she had been too cold to people... be it the time when she had gone to see him when he left for London... be it during their dinner date when she had so ruthlessly thrown away the food served to her just because she didn't like it... or the time when arjun swore at her...he was mad at him but she was so cold... it was confusing..it was hurtful... why did she say all this??

Its been almost a month now...and Geet handa seemed to rule the headlines. She had so well got herself incorporated in this system...that she didn't have time for anything else at all. He caressed her face in the pic and placed it on his heart, "I love you so much Geet... but why do I feel that you are slipping away from my reach?"

He still hadn't been able to get over those hurtful words... he had tried to speak to her so many times... or meet her... but she ignored him altogether. he started keeping quiet... even with his mom...who didn't even know what was the matter. She knew maan was a very loving person inside... he was a ruthless business man but when it came to relations..he's probably risk his like for his loved ones...and then suddenly him getting so quiet was worrying her.

He had dozed off while reading one of his files when he felt something soft caress his head. He woke up, wondering who could it be...as a warm smile welcomed him. he blinked a couple of times to adjust to the light and saw his mother stand beside him. he straightened and held her hands, "mom..you here?"

"you seem so worried maan..whats wrong?", she took a seat beside him.

He shook his head and tried to smile, "ahh..its nothing. Just too much work pressure!"

Avantika smiled knowing he was trying to hide that hurt...but then the news she had got just a few minutes back will probably be the end of all miseries!!

"umm..are you sure? I have got news for you!"

"what news?"

Avantika smiled naughtily which didn't go unnoticed by maan.

"mom..are you hiding something?"

Avantika couldn't suppress her laughter and broke the news, "your engagement is fixed!!"

Engagement?? Fixed??? It took him a minute to realize what she meant actually...how come? With whom? He wasn't even ready...forget about anyone..he wasn't even ready to give up on Geet..not now..not this soon!!! he wanted so many answers from her...why was she avoiding him..why did she say it was over... why was she so cold to him...what wrong did he do... he had so many things in his mind.

"engagement??"

She laughed louder seeing his face so pale, "maan... don't get scared beta.. your engagement with Geet is fixed!!! Now relax and go to sleep...I just got a call from Nisha some time back... we are thinking of this weekend... actually she suggested!"

As much he was surprised to hear this news...more worries settled within... Geet?? she had been so ruthless...she said it was over... then what was it playing games now? He felt raged... whats wrong with her? his heart was already in so much pain... then what was this game? She wasn't even taking his calls..refusing to see him... and then this engagement??? What has gotten into her???

Avantika saw him lost..not even rejoicing at the news.

"maan...kya baat hain beta?"

[maan whats wrong beta?]

He looked at her thoughtfully, "mom..did Geet agree for this?"

She sighed and shook her head, "maan...aap bhi na...kya kya sochte rehte hain... of course Geet ne han kaha hoga warna nisha kyun phone karengi??"

[maan... what has gotten into you..of course Geet must have said a yes..or else why would nisha call up in the first place?]

Avantika left, leaving his sleepless yet again! things are happening so fast... something was very wrong. Geet would never have possibly agreed for this...he knew her a little too well. it was him who was sulking with his hurt heart...not her!! he had to speak to nisha about it..that was the only way!!!

actually i am not getting words what to say aalso even my hands trembling with turn of events

you can say i am behaving crazy but when it comes to maaneet when it was you i cont stay silent nor say anything my heart was really getting scared

i cont get away from this scaring for next but waiting for the story to progress
