Chapter 14

The evening was cold and the snowflakes started to cover the hill, the night sky was covered with a thick fog and the passerby harsh winter wind dashed against the window. He sat there with nawang, both of the friends drank and looked out of the window. The house was deserted as both of their parents were out of station. While taking the last slip of the liquor mayur said with nostalgic in his voice

MAYUR: I do not know why but I always feel manyata presence around me, I feel she is near to me I just need to start looking for her

NAWANG: mayur the truth is she is dead, she is no more and do not hurt yourself by letting your illusion over come you

MAYUR: but I did get a proof and by that I can also prove if to that she is alive

Mayur noticed the change in nawang s face, he started to sweat and shiver, a signature smirk was placed in mayur face as nawang asked him hastily

NAWANG: really what proof did you get and where is it? Tell me mayur

MAYUR: it is in latern hill and tonight I will go to collect it

Suddenly he saw a drastic change in nawang, he began to shake as he stood up and said nervously

NAWANG: I need to leave mayur it is getting late

MAYUR: sure ok by then nawang

NAWANG: BYE

Saying this mayur saw him disappearing out in the snow covered hill as he smiled his plan was a success and he took his over coat from the chair and went out in his car to follow him.

She sat there watching her favorite movie for the 30^th time in that day, she had nothing better to do, there was neither cable nor any net connection and cell phones were just out of question. They lived like the olden days without any new gadgets and above all after lunch uday left the house promising to return late at night. She had assumed him going to search for food. Manyata already thought themselves more like Jane and Tarzen and chuckled at her thought but today while watching the movie her mind was clouded by his thought she had no idea why all of sudden she turned so dumb when he asked her the question. What was happening to her? Was nt she supposed to be in love with mayur? The name stroke her like thunder mayur her love the one who did every possible thing to save her how could she betray him but still her mind protested at a part saying that she and uday was destined to be together and no one could ever separate them. She decided to stop the battle for now and went to the library of the house, for the first time she decided to read a book to kill her time. She picked an oldest one from the shelf and with great difficulty dragged it to the reading table, the cover was filled with dust and on cleaning it she read the title "Devil in Camouflage" by Steve Lawrence, she opened it and found it written in Latin and with weird pictures she closed the book and made a mental note. After some time she heard the lock getting opened in the door as she rushed down to find uday with a log of wood, his bare chest was drenched with water and his hair had snow drops in it, before even he could put the log of woods carefully she caught his wrist and dragged him saying

MANYATA: I was just thinking about you I need your help

But when she looked back she watched him standing there in the same position she kept dragging but it did not seem to affect him as she said him

MANYATA: what happened why are you not moving?

UDAY: let me finish my work and then I will go

She let go of his wrist and started to jump like a kid and cried

MANYATA: no no come now now now

He chuckled at her antiques but he was enjoying it and said to her

UDAY: no first I will finish my work

Saying this he started to take the wood log and placing it one by one in the fireplace normally it did not take him much time but today he took extra time to irk her, she went and said

MANYATA: but you are taking so long

UDAY: then why don't you help me it will be faster

Twisting her face in annoyance she picked a log of wood with great difficultly and dragged it to the fireplace, he did offer her a helping hand but she simply denied of taking any help as they finished the work together. By the end she was sweating and panting as she asked him

MANYATA: are you done now? Shall we go?

UDAY: not yet princess we have now a dinner to cook remember so are you helping me?

She screamed in annoyance as he loved irritating her and teased her

UDAY: shall I consider this as a yes

He went to the kitchen as she followed him, as he started to take out the utensils from the cupboard and she started to chop the veggies and the chicken and watched him how trained he was, the way he cooked was awesome no wonder the food tasted so delicious. As he asked her to help with the last dish and to give him some sugar being totally alienated to the cooking rules and being absent minded she picked the bleaching powder bottle and handed over to him. Uday almost put it in the dish but tha shape of the bottle made him realize as he shook manyata and said

UDAY: what is this princess?

MANYATA: why sugar you only asked me right

He smacked his forehead and said to her correcting her misconception

UDAY: this is bleaching powder and not sugar princess

A guilt came over her face as she apologized he ordered her to just wit while he finish cooking. She nodded her head and washed her hands but instead of drying it in the towel she went closer to uday and dried in the apron that he was wearing and ran away running. Her laughter was filled in the entire room as after the food was cooked he went to her and said her

UDAY: now let's go where ever you wanted to go

She shook her head in a yes and took him to the library and took out the book and opened it looking at him as he asked

UDAY: what am I to do with this book?

MANYATA: read it to me

UDAY: oh so my princess needed me for this work fine sit I am reading it to you

She smiled and sat as he went through the book and said

UDAY: this is about tales of the beast princess, it says the origin of beats started during the 11 th century that mean very much earlier civilization of kingship was taking place, but the world was already polluted by sin so the animals were being killed for building kingdoms only there was a man named Samraat who protected the jungle but he too was dead aftermath god blessed him with the boon that his ancestor will be half human and half beast to protect the animal, but for they never had their beloved and had to leave a isolated life as they were committed to the mother nature.

He looked at her and smiled and said to her

UDAY; so you see princess I am very powerful

She nodded her head in a yes and stretched herself saying

MANYATA: it is getting late let's go for dinner

UDAY: you sleep and I shall leave behind you

He watched her leaving as a glint of happiness took into his eyes and he said to her

UDAY: how can you kill a person who is already dead there is NO WAY to kill a beast we are immortal till we complete our year cycle and for me I have more 179 years to complete and so will you have once you get married to me and that will be very soon and trust me when I say soon it really MEANS soon
