Chapter#10

Last Chapter -

Aryaan and Khushi were called downstairs because the other family was leaving.

Khushi came down with a bright smile on her face because there was hope. There was hope for them being together forever. She smiled. There would be no more crying nights, missing-him nights or the night where she would just stare at her face in the mirror and regret it. She was confident and finally happy.

But the main problem was how would she approach him? How will she tell Arnav about all the times she had suffered?

She would, wait. Again.

She had decided to give a chance to him to make a move. She was tired of always being the first one to make things work. But not anymore.

Arnav on the other hand looked at her smiling form.

So, she was really happy... He thought sadly.

He felt like his heart was being punched but then another part of him was happy that she was at least smiling. After how much he had hurt her, he felt guilty and he felt stupid.

*

Later that night when Arnav had reached home, he changed into his casual clothes and stood by the pool and stared at the dark, cloudy sky. The moon hid behind the clouds making it darker than usual and just a few stars peeking out at him.

He sighed.

How life can take sudden turns... he thought.

In a week's time, there was another rasam. And Arnav was only going to attend that one, just so he could see her one last time and then he would finally be out of her life.

As he stood there, still as a statue all the thoughts of Khushi clouded his mind.

He pulled out a picture out of his pocket which Khushi had given to him as a gift on their last Valentine's Day. The day, he broke her heart into a million pieces.

Just how his heart was now...

He totally felt how a one-sided love felt like.

As he looked down the pictures, three words escaped his lips...

"I love you..."

The words he had never, ever, said to anyone by heart.

A week later -

"Bhai are you coming with us?" -Akash said as he did his coat buttons.

"Oh yes, I am. I am ready, though. I just have to send this on e-mail..." -Arnav said as he quickly typed on his I-phone.

"Oh okay" -Akash nodded and turned but then stopped. "Err... bhai... Why are you going to London for such a small deal? Aman can easily go there? You should attend the functions, no?" -Akash asked.

Arnav stayed silent.

"We can't rely on Aman every single time, Akash. And it is an important deal. I can't waste my time on weddings." -Arnav curtly answered while looking at his phone.

"But Khushi..." -Akash stopped as he heard Nani calling him.

Arnav had heard the name. But he was so glad Nani called him. He didnt want to answer questions.

Yes, it wasn't an important deal. Yes, Aman could have easily handled it. But no, he had to walk away. He was leaving tomorrow for about 2 weeks. He could never move on so he wanted her to completely move on and be happy.

Khushi looked at herself in the mirror uncertainly as Payal did her hair.

"Payal... Don't you think I look too over done?" -Khushi asked.

"Shut up Khushi! Seriously look at me, I am over done."

"No you're not. I am over done!" -Khushi huffed.

"You both look equally fine" -A panicked Lavanya entered.

And the three of them continued to argue who looked over done.

The simple rasam of giving gifts to the to-be-bride and groom had begun. Khushi and Aryaan stood together, talking and laughing away of silly stuff where as Arnav stood at the most corner space and stared at them.

Something kept bothering Khushi at the corner of her eye. She excused herself and started walking up the stairs.

Just as she reached the nearest room and entered by the pool-side, the power went off.

She had one hand on her eye and the other was open wide. She was scared of the darkness and she was all alone upstairs. She looked around to find the tiniest bit of light but it was pitch dark. She was even scared to move a bit. She was still as a statue.

She had closed both of her eyes now and breathed heavily.

Just then she felt a hand around her waist.

Arnav had his eyes on her, all the time.

He had seen her go upstairs while rubbing her eye lightly. He wanted to go with her but then he stopped. What if she got scared of him? Or what if she told him that she hated him? He could never bear that. Anything, but that.

And then the lights went off. In that instance, he had a flash-back.

They sat in the school ground, together on a swing and swayed lightly.

He had just joked about something and she had laughed like crazy. He looked at her, smilingly.

"What are your fears, Khushi?" -He asked.

She stopped laughing and looked at him in the eyes.

"Well... I don't have many but I'm scared of the dark." -She said as she giggled.

He looked around to find her, if she was back but she wasn't there. Not that he could see properly.

He made his way through the crowd and rushed upstairs. He just felt it; he felt how scared she was. His footsteps were automatically taking him to her and there he saw a shadow and he left a loud sigh.

He went close to her and slipped his arm around her waist and made her turn towards him.

She gasped.

"Arya...an? Is it you? I'm... so glad! I was.. so scared." -She said in a trembling voice.

Arnav stiffened and something pinched his heart. He closed his eyes tightly and opened them again.

Just as he did the light came back and the loud music felt so distant.

She gasped again and his attention went to her.

She was extremely cold and her face was pale. A few drops of sweat had formed on her forehead and she looked at him with her big brown wide eyes.

Was she scared of him? He thought and loosened his grip on her waist.

She looked away and blinked her eyes thrice. Her left hand reached for her eye and she started rubbing it. For a second she forgot he was here.

Arnav looked at her, all lost in her.

Only if he could have her back...

He had no idea of what took over him and he stepped closer.

He took hold of her left wrist and held it away from her eyes and she quickly looked up. Arnav moved the loose strand of hair and tucked it behind her ear. As he was about to move to her eye, Khushi stepped away and pushed his hand away.

Arnav came out of the trance and looked at her.

Shit! What was I doing? So stupid! Arnav cursed himself and he looked down at the fruitless floor.

He sighed.

"Sorry." -He whispered, enough for her to hear and he turned to walk back downstairs when he felt a soft hand in his.

His heart stopped and he refused to look back.

What if it was just a vision?

But then he slowly tilted his head and saw her eyes filled with tears as she looked down at the ground and her hand holding his.

He fully turned to her.

"Khushi..."

"You still have the same affect on me." -She whispered. "Nothing has changed." -She said still not looking at him.

He was bemused. What was she saying?

"My heart still beats like crazy when you come near me." -Khushi continued as another tear slipped down her cheek.

He was speechless.

"... and I still dream of us being together like I always did." -She choked on her words as her throat went dry.

Arnav finally came out of the daze and stepped towards her, cautiously: scared that she might step back but she didn't move.

He cupped her cheeks.

"I love you Khushi."

That was all he could say.

Khushi quickly looked up at him as he said those words. Did he really mean it? She thought.

"I love you so much.. And I mean it." -He said as he closed her into a hug.

Both of them smiled.

Oblivious to the three people hiding behind the door, looking at the united couple while giggling.

There is always hope. Never ever give up! And also there is always a happily ever after...

The last scene in the memory of our pool-side love scenes & the holi episode. ^_^

Okay so this was the last chapter! Finally ended it. ^_^ First, if there is anything left, I'm extremely sorry! You have no idea how hard it is to take time out and write these days. I have exams in October and I have to study. Blekhh. ._. I'm not saying that I'm off till next month. I am an internet addict I can never leave it. :P So you dolls will get updates of the other stories. So my point is sorry for ther mistakes, any typos or any not-so-forming sentences. :P This chapter was a rush. Really and I jus kept typing and typing and typing. Whatever came into my mind I just wrote it up. But.. the last scene was planned. I had planned that it would be just like the holi scene. :') I miss it a lot. :(

Okay and sceondly, I LOVE YOU DOLLS SO MUCH! the love I've gotten is a lot. Seriously. Its not just about the comments and likes but the messages I got about saying how much hey liked my work. I was totally overwhelmed. And I know every one loved this SS. Right? ^_^ I loved each and every comment and the even the people who liked it. I've gotten like above 100 likes on a few chapters. Thankyou! I never thought I'd be ever writing on a site. Okay, seriously I'm emotional and really thankful. :P Everything means the world to me dolls!

And this is my second story ending. :') with a good response. :') Hehe. ^_^ I'm just left with a FF, a TS and a SS. The TS and the SS will be the next I work on and I'll finish them off. And I'll be left with Begin Again. :D

OH! And the part where the stroy says about a 'rasam' LOL I have no idea if such a thing exists. :P I made it up. :P

Okay so bye dolls! See you in a few days with the other updates of the other stories. :* Oh and I'll think about the epilogue. :D
