Hello all 🤗... I m back with my Weekend thread as usual since Weekends r only time when I get ample time to put down my thoughts in the forum 😳

This week too No Jalal and Jodha meeting once again 😭 .. I wish they had met in the jungle instead of that hide and seek game between both and that poor deer but well with marriage on cards next week , I m sure finally Jalal and Jodha will meet directly during marriage 😃

What worked for me this week ...

Lots of things worked for me this week 👍🏼... First of all the dialogue that stands out for me was in jungle when Ruquaiyya fails to hunt down the deer that time Jalal tells her that her nishaana was right but she could not kill the deer because someone managed to save the deer with her intelligence which only proves that the saviour is bigger than the hunter/killer 😉😳... We all know it was Jodha woh managed to save the deer with her quick presense of mind and Jalal without knowing its Jodha , actually appreciates it 😳 ... This is positive indication that even in future Jalal will realise from Jodha that a saviour is always bigger than a killer and so he too will become a saviour and thus the rise of Akbar will began and he will no more b called Jalal 😃...

Secondly I liked this new Ruquaiyya ...she has got sharp features and looks like a typical Mughal family's begam .. Also her acting is better than the old one 👍🏼... This week I saw fear in Ruquaiyya's eyes when Farida told Jalal that she wishes one day he too gets real love to understand its value and Jalal looked all restless as if he too is somewhere thirsting for that real love but not admitting it 😳...In this scene one could clearly see Ruquaiyya's fears and insecurity because she knows well that Jalal does not love her because somewhere she did fail to make that place in his heart ...Jalal might give her the top priority as his wife for now but its purely based on his childhood loyalty towards her and not love , so she fears that if in future such woman comes in his life who can actually transform Jalal into a person who starts believing in love , then she will loose that exclusive place from Jalal's life as the ultimate begam and this is one reason why she is at times looks so desperate to prove that she is the Malika-e-hind and noone can replace her ever 😉😆😆,.. I found this scene showing Ruquaiyya's fears quite interesting simply because Ruquaiyya somewhere knows that Jalal too is searching for that true love which he never got as everyone from Maha manga to Bairam khan to her own self hv only used him till now but there is noone who really gave that unconditional love to Jalal and the day he gets that from someone , he might b a totally different man and this fear and insecurity is turning Ruquaiyya on the negative side ...From a story telling POV , Ruquaiyya is quite a interesting character who can definitely make a difference in the overall coarse of the story post Jalal and Jodha's wedding 👍🏼...

Thirdly the scene which I loved this week was Jalal and Jodha's definition on love which is so contrasting yet I found few interesting similarities ... Jalal believes that love makes a man weak whereas Jodha believes that love can transform any monster into a human with heart 😳...Jalal believes that Love is sheer nonsense and can destroy everything while Jodha believes that Love is God's beautiful gift 😳 .. Such contrasting takes yet both their eyes carry the same kind of depth and passion while they explain their takes on Love 😳... Both r yet to feel that real love because Jodha's attraction towards Suryabhan comes from the fact that she is suppose to marry him as arranged by her family whereas Jalal's hate for love comes from the fact that everyone in the name of love only used him till now ... But both r yet to fall in love with their own wish without any third party interfering between them or telling them what to do .. So both r yet to go through that natural process of falling in love despite hving contrasting POVs in life 😳

Fourthly Bairam khan and Jalal scenes really moved me 👏👏...Loved the way their relationship's ups and downs r portrayed this week 👍🏼... Both had different POVs which dint match and so they could not really work together as one unit but one can clearly see that Jalal has a deep bonding with Bairam khan which none can break ... One point about Bairam khan here is that unlike Maha manga and Ruquaiyya , I feel Bairam khan is not that selfish or manipulative 🤔.,..His ways might b different and more cruel , he might want to b a dominating force in Jalal's life , more like a father figure , but he definitely wants to see Jalal rulling India unlike Maha manga who is secretly hving dreams of placing her son in the scheme of things or unlike Ruquaiyya who is more interested in becoming Malika-e-hind and so suddenly started supporting Maha manga against Bairam khan 😡... Hamida banu too knows it and so she tried her best to explain to Jalal that he does need Bairam khan with him amidst of all these politics going on ...But sighhh Bairam khan leaves 😭 but I loved the fact that Jalal and Bairam khan had a emotional heart to heart talk before Bairam khan leaves and at least Jalal showed the respect to Bairam khan rather than ending things on a bitter note 👍🏼...At least such scenes show us the human and emotional side of Jalal and how he values relationships and also understands emotions well 👏👏...

Lastly I loved the Sujamal part too when he comes and protects his brothers and Jodha and then all of them takes a dubki in Ganga 👍🏼,.. Even though Sujamal is standing on opposite side of the fence today and brothers are at loggerhands with Sujamal but I love the bonding that Jodha and Sujamal share as brother-sister .. the actor playing Sujamal's role is really good too 👍🏼...

Overall this week the scenes were really very powerful especially the Bairam-Jalal scenes and also the Jungle deer saving mission where Jalal made the most interesting point regarding how a savior is bigger than the hunter 😛 ... Even Jodha-Ruquaiyya confrontation was quite interesting and this scene against proved who will hv the upper hand in Jalal's life later on 😈... Ruquaiyya can pack her bags too like Bairam khan now because Jodha is arriving next week 😛😆

Today's episode precap proves that marriage might happen by next week itself .. Jalal might marry both Bairam's wife and Jodha next week itself since Ekta and CVs for sure will make this marriages happen in Jet speed to end the Rajput chapter for sometime so that the protests can stop 😉😛... errr smart move by CVs 👍🏼

What did not work for me this week ...

There was some character inconsistency this week mayb because of sudden protests and so CVs rushing up with the proceedings 🤔... Bairam khan looked so determined to fight against Jalal if needed but not bowing down to his orders and next day suddenly we see an all emotional Bairam khan bowing down to Jalal's orders and even Jalal all emotionally charged as if CVs just want to get done with Bairam khan chapter 😳😆

Maha manga and Ruquaiyya teaming up together to vote against Bairam khan in front of Jalal also dint work for me simply because this is future indication that in future these 2 will again team up together against Jodha and we might get few of their kitchen politics scenes too 🥱

CVs hv portrayed Maha manga as quite a cunning woman who is going onto manipulate Jalal's mind now post Bairam khan's exit and even Jalal is taking decisions too as per her advise only especially selecting the replacement of Bairam khan ...What I know of Maha manga is she was dominating and possessive of Jalal but she never really wanted her son to become the king or anything like that .. she did had a control over Jalal till Jodha came in his life but nowhere she wanted bad for Jalal but here this Maha manga seems to b doing everything which can benefit only her son Adam khan which was not the case in real history 🤔... Also that creepy maha mangaaa background music is giving it a typical daily soap feel 😕...In short Maha manga becoming total negative is not really working for me ... she can b manipulative and control Jalal but CVs better not turn her into a typical evil vamp here doing all sort of kalakaris to destroy Jalal

High Points :

Bairam Khan leaving 😭😭.. My heart really broke seeing those tears in Jalal's eyes when he hugged Bairam khan .. very touching scene .. Exactly that time we see Maha manga giving her evil laugh while showing fake tears to others .. what a contrast .. but creates grt impact 👍🏼...

Low Points :

No Jalal-Jodha meeting again 😭 ... just hide and seek in jungle ...

Suggestion/Feedback to CVs :

No creepy background music for the characters plss even if they r vamps 😳... More Jalal-Jodha scenes next week plss .. I can wait for their confrontation before marriage when Jodha puts down her conditions to Jalal 😳...I know articles said Jodha wont b aware that she is getting married to Jalal but I hope just before marriage she comes to know about the alliance her father was forced to do with Jalal and then puts up her conditions before him accordinly 😛.. few spoilers also said Suryabhan will die .. errr lets see ..in that case Jodha will definitely marry him with vengence in her heart and we might hv Ekta spl revenge marriage drama 😆😆... so history will b totally changed then 😕😆.. I hope CVs keep in mind all the protests happening and dont show too many controvertial stuffs to make matters more worse 😡...

Phew thats it from me 😛 .. waiting to hear all your takes on this week's episodes 😃

Friends, it was an interesting week with respect to the Jodha-Akbar serial. In the backdrop of the Rajput protests against Ekta, many of us have been keeping fingers crossed even as we continued to enjoy the episodes that came this week. Most gratifyingly, the spoilers and precaps with which this week has ended seem to give us the sanket of a marriage that may happen as soon as next week between Jodha and Jalal, so all in all, I am quite satisfied with the goings on …

Although I noticed a lot of focus this last week has been on the political rumblings in the Mughal household and family rumblings in the Rajput household, I want to stay away from the larger household politics at both places this week for my analysis. Instead I want to focus on something I noticed very sharply: it has to do with the "awakening of the insides" of both Jodha and Jalal. So many things happened this last week that convince me that while Jalal's HEART is stirring awake, Jodha's MIND is at the same stirring awake too. In a sense both the protagonists are seemingly undergoing an arousal of their previous peace, but to my mind, one of them is discovering challenges to his heart, while the other is discovering challenges to the mind.

I am not sure how many of you will agree with my analysis here, but these are the reasons why I feel so:

Jalal's HEART is beginning to make itself felt!

The first sign this last week of Jalal's heart doing a sudden palpable flip inside him came, for me, with that portrait burning episode. Why did he even commission that portrait? And having done so, why did he then lose no time in destroying it? My friend Jyoti told me she thought Jalal first asked for the portrait to be done out of a compulsion to put his heart out on canvas … but when the artist lady said she knows Jodha and started praising her beauty, suddenly Jalal may have wanted no one else to have their fill of Jodha after he had had his own eyes warmed by that portrait. Maybe he therefore burned the portratit from a jealous possessiveness to keep things inside his own heart and not "out there"? My own feeling was that Jalal wanted that artist to put on canvas the hard reality that his heart did not want to face: the vision of anger and hatred and the outstretched sword that Jodha showed Jalal in that Amer jail. And then he burned that portrait because the anger and hatred of Jodha was exactly what he wanted to burn or erase from his own heart. Whichever way you look at it though, the portrait and its burning was all about "heart on canvas" …

The second sign from Jalal's came during the altercations with Bairam Khan. The scenes were spectacular because not only did Jalal betray the floundering of his own mind against the stirrings of his heart, even Bairam Khan seemed not to know what to do with the sudden heart-yearnings for independence from a boy he thought he knew through and through. How this whole saga between them began with a tussle of minds and then eventually ended up as a saga of hearts (both Jalal's - and the hitherto man of steel Bairam Khan's!) was in itself a revelation of which way the winds of the future were blowing in the Mughal camp!

The role of Jalal's mother in awakening Jalal's heart was one of the high points this week. She did this twice: once in the Bairam Khan issue and the second time in the Farida issue. To me it was wonderful to see that it was Jalal's budding heart that made him even listen to his mother with a newfound respect for her words. Further, he later asks Ruqqaiya if his mother's "heart-related arguments" could be really valid about himself and Ruqqaiya not having a child because there was no "mohabbat" in their relationship. He even tells Ruqqaiya he is disturbed by all the recent challenges to his past thinking in recent days: first the Bairam Khan altercation and then the Farida dhoka … Jalal, to me, sounds like someone who knows something has awoken inside of him but he is not yet able to articulate or accept that it may be his heart!

The SBS scene they showed of a possible event next week of Jalal, uneasy of mind, praying at a dargah for relief from conflict, and then hearing instead a pirbaba's heart-churning prophecy that "something is indeed going to come into his life to turn his personal equilibrium upside down" is another sanket for us viewers … we have a hero now who has begun to feel something pounding away inside of him: a corner of vulnerability and softness he thought he never had!

My own happiness at Jalal's discovery of his heart:

I, for one, am thrilled that Jalal is discovering he has a heart by himself, and he is not waiting for Jodha to come and show him he has a heart! My respect for Jalal seems to be predicated on the fact that he is being led by his own inner intelligence and intuition to reach his conclusions. I am not a happy bunny seeing him all the time conferring to his All-Women-Advisory-Panel, every time he has to make decisions that show conflict between heart and mind. I want Jalal to be heart-ready for a future and an adult relationship with Jodha, and I don't want him to be like a little boy in search of "mothering" when Jodha comes into his life. Jalal, gratifyingly, seems to be getting there by himself, and that augurs well for the entry of Jodha into his life.

Jodha's MIND is beginning to make itself felt!

Contrasted with Jalal, in Jodha's case, it seems to be her mind that is the more challenged at the moment. Her upbringing seems to have been all about heart … soft feelings for her family, a world-view coloured by gentle tugs of the heart as to what is right or wrong, and even a passion for the right made ferocious by being entirely a heart-led person. The first sign that Jodha's mind is beginning to stir came, for me, in the face-offs she had with Ruqqaiya in the tax collection issue … as we all know Ruqqaiya is nothing but a "walking-talking-ticking mind", and when faced with Ruqqaiya, Jodha has had to summon a defence of her stance with arguments that are intellectually sound rather than just heart-right. What is the intellectual logic that only Hindus must pay tax to pray at their temples? Was Ruqqaiya really superior in rank to herself, and if so how? In the end she makes mental trade-off to pay more than due taxes with a precious necklace - thus putting her opponent on the defensive … that scene, for me, was all mind-games!

The second instance where Jodha's mind has to do a "reality check" on itself was when Sujamal suddenly appeared at the river side. Jodha's first instict to be heart-led comes in the form of adoration of her brother … but soon the mind is forced to reckon with the reality that she is bang in the middle of a war of minds and a war of principles between her brothers. One believes the kingdom is his due and wiill stand up for it with war, while the others challenge his "rights to it". Sujamal interestingly tells Jodha in so many words "not to stand in between in the case of a war within the family", and to me, that sounded like "Use your mind, girl, and don't be confused between mind and heart on this one!" It looked like a moment when Jodha realised that it was not enough to just be a person of heart!

The third occasion when Jodha's mind seemed to stir with more flurry seemed when she asked her mother "Why can a girl not have both her husband's heart and home as well as her maike? Why must one be left behind to make way for the other?" It's the classic moment when relocation is in her face, as with any girl, and she realises that love alone cannot help her survive this dislocation crisis and she needs to exercise some mental understanding and acceptance of the realities of life. It's a moment of growth that most girls reconcile to after a bit of turmoil, but for Jodha who all her life has lived largely on a staple diet of "love solves all", I feel, it must seem more complex as she has to bring a hitherto peacefully-slumbering mind into engagement-with-the-problem mode.

The precap of her mother giving her a bottle of poison to "make a radical decision with if needed" seems enough to make any girl's sleeping mind hyperactive with disquiet! I suspect that Jodha has this week been steadily exposed to more and more events that challenge her notion that life can entirely be lived by the heart's diktats, and she is realising that many confusing situations may need clarity that can only come with mental compromise and an ability to accept the arguments of "the other side". The coming week, if there is indeed a rushed tent-marriage to Jalal, should be another jolt to Jodha. Her father's alliance with Jalal, to save Amer by marrying Jodha to him, can never be a decision Jodha can take from her heart. She can save Amer only thorugh a mental compromise with herself, her kingdom, her father and even Jalal.

My own happiness at Jodha's discovery of her mind:

Just as I am thrilled that Jalal has begun to hear his heart on his own, without Jodha's prodding, I am very deeply relieved that events are forcing Jodha to start basing more decisions from the mind rather than just by her heart, without Jalal having to give her all the trauma to really wake her up . She is entering a family and a situation in the Mughal court that is a hotbed of politics, treachery, back-stabbing, manipulative cruelty … and a host of characters there are all engaged in games with extremely elastic rules! It's a situation where "all's fair in love and war" is the prevailing motto. If Jodha just enters this cauldron of sophisticated maneuvers with a childlike notion of "I play by my heart" she is not going to be able to withstand the diabolical elements. She can live by her heart only when she first quells the opponents to submission before her as a superior mind that can overwhelm them easily when required. Only when she has intellectually outplayed them will they then fall into line and allow her to unleash her game of the heart. I want Jodha, therefore, to get a real taste of "minds at war" before she becomes a part of Jalal's life. That's why I am more than satisfied that she is having some reality checks now that are preparing her to be more of a 360-degree person!

Between you and Shyamala ji, what else can us lowly people write but to say " we bow down to your wisdom and insight into this tv serial we all love called Jodha Akbar".

Ahhh . ... your analysis is superb, and even though I don't like the new \Ruqaiya I agree with you on what you've written for the most part.

What I find frusterating with this new actor is that seems to have lost the emotional aspect of the character that Smilie brought to her. Its crazy to feel after the end of one episode that you feel so sorry for her, and those tears really touched my soul, but then in the next episode she acts so haughty and its like that scene never happened. That disconnect is ultimately the directors fault, nothing to do about the actors, but I wish they had melded the two a bit better.

As for BK moving on a lot faster than was predicted...I think we all knew that there wasn't going to be an all out war between the two of them. As soon as Jalal got ready in his battle gear adn marched out, I think BK knew right then that he had made a big mistake. he never expected Jalal to rise up and stand up for his kingdom,

So although I did find it a bit choppy, ultimately I do think that the flow and actions that were scripted played out well and in the best possible way.

Just think, in this one month since the show has started, we've seen the character of Bairam Khan evolve and depart. We've seen his interactions with Maham Anga, Jalal, and a little bit with others and my FAVORITE 2 scenes of this serial are with Bairam Khan and Jalal...the first being between them when he blinded the soldier and the second when he went down on this knees and asked for his last wish to be granted...

WOW...I really hope that the scenes scripted between Jalal and Jodha can exceed those two scenes, because I found that although Bairam Khan was evil, it was more to do with him having power and not knowing that he needed to give it up now and let Jalal rule. The intent was always to held Jalal rule the Mughal Empire...not take it over and he was so believable when he said that to Jalal in his last scene. Ahhh...BK will be missed because Maham Anga is no aid to Jalal...so is definitely looking for his downfall.

There is so much more to say and yet I will end it here...Great week for me since I absolutely loved Bairam Khan's character.

@Jyoti:
Loved your take today!👏👏👏👏. I most especially liked this part that you wrote:

Even I have noticed this contrast bbetween what is happening to jalal and why, and what is happening to Jodha and why. In a way they seem to be in the same "self-discovery mode" yet they are doing so in different ways! And their families are forcing them both to change, yet in different ways! Wow! What a wonderful moment this is ...
... sometimes the path that leads to love is more enchanting than the love itself! I am glad we are all having time to see this phase of Jodha and Jalal, awakening to themselves, before they fall in love. This part of their journeys is so interesting, na?

feeling pity on the so ordinary thinking of Ekta... Ruqayya will never pack her bags ... this is not present day drama... how on a fake character like jodha, its making fun of respectful real historical figure.. Ruqayya sultan... if they are taking liberty of making fiction in the name of great Mughals just don't touch the original historical figure specially who never loose respect and power...
sharam ani chaiye 1 never negative historical figure ka image kaharab karte hue in the name of liberty. fiction bla bla... maham anga sae kaam nhi chal sakta... kia fiction k naam par history ko 360 deg turn karenge ...jo kabhi hua hi nhi how can they show it...
