ARNAV

I reached the ground soon. I love Wankhede stadium. I've always had great matches here. As I was standing at the entrance looking at the stadium I heard someone clear his throat next to me and I turned to face Coach Shah.

Coach Shah had been my mentor. He was the one who discovered the real Arnav Singh Raizada, the one who snatched the ball from me and handed over the bat instead. That was the biggest decision of my life and he took it for me. And today here I'm all because of this man. Today he is the coach of the national team.

"Arnav , if I'm right you were thinking of your success here isn't it?"

"Right sir" I said with a huge grin on my face.

"You know something, you've always been my favourite and will always be"

"Really? I asked him even though I knew he was serious.

"Really" He confirmed.

"And I think we now need to go in and start practising." He said and started walking towards the pitch.

"Right"

"And yeah Arnav I wanted you ask you something"

"What is it sir?"

"Did Rishabh tell you something?"

"Why sir? What happened?"

"Just asking"

"Yeah he wanted to tell me something so asked me to come early too and now see I'm late. "

"Actually he seemed a lot excited when he came in today, but he didn't tell me anything. I guessed he might have been waiting for you to share something. And judging by the way he is looking at you now I think he is ready to kill, to be specific, ready to kill YOU"

I looked up and saw Rishabh glaring at me. I walked up to him and stood next to him. He kept on glaring at me and didn't say anything, so I started the conversation.

"Sorry, had to talk to coach"

He just nodded. I knew he would cool down a while later.

This time again I was right. He was looking at me all time during nets. For all I know, Rishabh is not someone who could be silent for a long while and he cant ignore me for that long easily. After all I'm his best friend.

By lunch he was next to me. The look he had on his face explained that he wanted me to start talking to him. This time I complied because the mistake was mine.

"Ok, I'm sorry"

"Its Okay" He told and smiled."

"Now tell me. What is so exciting?"

"Guess what"

"What?"

"I and Anya"

"You both what?"

"We got engaged!" he finished with a broad smile.

"What? When? How?"

"Relax, relax bro"

"Tell me then" I felt like a teenage girl asking for details.

"Well, I took her to, you know where, had dinner, proposed her and she said YES" he told me without going much into the details and I never asked again.

"So soon? Too bad"

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is she should not have said yes so easily. She should have made you run behind her for a little while longer."

"I'll make sure that happens with you"

I heard him mutter something but couldn't catch it. I was sure it was something about me.

"What did you say?" I asked him

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing" he said.

I decided not to push him.

"Any plans for dinner tonight?"

"Nope"

"Great. I'm planning a small get together. At my place tonight. Me, you , Anya, one of her cousins and yeah bring Nivi and Liam along."

"I'll be there Rish, Nivi and Liam wont be able to make it. They are going to meet him tonight. I'll be there" he nodded in understanding.

"Hey, I forgot to ask, what did your mom say?"

"My mom? She was so excited that she went off for pilgrimage"

"What? Again? Typical aunty. Remember last time she went on a pilgrimage? When you were hurt and out of the team for a while"

"She still says that I got back in because of her prayers and not because of my skills on field." He said and laughed. I laughed too.

"I agree with her though"

We chatted on for a while. After lunch we continued with our practice.

By around five in the evening I had finished my practice sessions. I got ready for tonight's event as I knew I cant do that later as I was planning too many things on mind as for now. I had change of clothes in my bag. I was dressed in a V neck white Tee with blue denims.

I decided to go to meet Alisha since I needed to break up. How easy that was to say, I just hope that this she doesn't make a big deal of it. It was my fault that she ended up in this situation. But still she should've known this was coming sooner or later.

I parked at the guest parking of her apartment and climbed the stairs to the sixth floor. Probably she had some party at her place since music was blasting from her apartment. This was unusual. She never left me out of any party. I haven't attended any of her parties still she used to invite me.

I rang the bell. A lean , tall saree clad figure opened the door. It wasn't Alisha in that purple saree, if I didn't know Alisha had no sister then I would have surely misunderstood by now. She was way too similar to Alisha. She had a brother who was married to one of her model- friends. Maybe this was her.

"Hey ASR" She said in a cheerful tone as she came up no me. No hug? What was happening?? Alisha had changed.

I noticed two men on the couch. The girl who opened the door went and sat next to one of them. I saw her adjust on the little space in the end next to probably her husband. The other guy on the couch looked somewhat familiar to me, but I wasn't able to figure out from where.

"Hi" I said back to Alisha as she was anticipating my reply.

"I think I know you" I said turning to the other guy.

He smiled at me as he got up and came to stand next to me shaking hands.

"I'm Nikhil if you remember we met at Rahul, my cousin and your team mate's birthday party"

"Yeah. Now I remember, well how are you?"

"I'm doing good, what about you?"

"Same. Actually I didn't know you guys were here, I needed to talk to Alisha" I said getting up from my seat.

"Well Arnav the thing is, we have something to tell you too"

WE? Who all does she mean by WE? Let her explain.

She got up and went to stand next to the guy who I assume is her brother, so now she was in between Nikhil and him.

"Okay, you first " I said to her

"Arnav meet my brother Angad and his wife Neha. Nikhil who you know is her brother."

I just looked at her not knowing to where she was heading. This was somewhat awkward. I came here to break up and am instead meeting her family? What the hell was going on? Also she was calling me Arnav instead of the usual ASR. I was about to ask her where she was heading but I saw her open her mouth to say something, so I stopped.

"Arnav , actually the thing is I don't think we have a future together."

"What" she just told me what I wanted to tell her, the one thing for which I came here and I was obviously shocked.

"Yeah Arnav , look at the way our relationship has progressed. I really don't feel something in between s, and Nikhil over here likes me. In fact we have both liked each other for a long time but never got a chance to express it. Now we have bonded and I think we are good for each other.

"Really?" I wanted to be sure. I was asking this question a lot these days. Today morning when I asked this question I was sure of the answer being yes but this time I wanted it badly to be YES.

"Yes Arnav . And don't think that I told this today since you came up to see me. Actually I was about to call you and talk to you but.. And I also know you must have come here with some huge surprise for me, but I'm sorry"

I couldn't believe this was happening with me. I mean I came here to break up with her. I had to do my first break up and I didn't know how to do it and she, she broke up with me. I didn't have to do anything, didn't have to feel guilty. I didn't know what to say now.

"Its ok Alisha" I found my voice and came up from my thoughts before saying that.

"Thanks Arnav . Can I ask you what you wanted to tell me before "

Oh I'm caught. What am I supposed to say now?? I cant tell her that I too wanted to break up. I didn't want to end up looking bad, the selfish side of me urged me to hide the truth and I complied.

"That? I don't think that matters anymore"

"Fine" She said.

"Congratulations bye the way. You guys are a wonderful couple to look at." I said imagining Khushi next to me. I cant believe I'm in love. I don't even know her properly, but maybe this is how love is.

"Thanks Arnav . I'm glad you didn't have a problem. I guess we can be friends then"

"Thats what we are. Bye Alisha take care and you Nikhil take good care of her" I said looking at Nikhil.

"Will do"

He definitely was not lying. I've known Rahul for almost eight years. He is our team captain and I'm his deputy. He was a really nice guy, married with two kids. I know they have a happy family and I really hoped Nikhil was like his cousin.

I shook hands with them and side hugged Alisha before I left the place.

It was like five thirty when I left the place. I decided to tell Nivi first about the break up.

I heard two rings before she took the call

"Hey Nivi is he next to you" I asked hoping the answer was No.

"No"

"Thank god"

"What is the matter bro?"

"Got to tell you something"

"Tell me. Wait let me guess, you broke up with Alisha?"

I smiled at her question. She knew me very well. That is the reason we had such a cute relationship. Sometimes she would guide me, even though she was younger to me, like how my mother would have. She was very much like her, in looks ,the way she walks, talks or even glares. With her around I never missed my mom. So coming back to her question,

"Actually you are right and at the same time wrong" I told her with a huge grin plastered on my face which she couldn't see.

"What? How is that even possible? Enlighten me" she said.

"She broke up with me!" I said in a sing song way.

"How dare she break up with my brother?"

"Chill Nivi chill" I said calming my sister down

I continued after I heard her take a deep breath.

"Hey, its not like I wanted this relationship to last. She just told me that she didn't see us together in the future and so thought that it was better to break it off.

"I think this is the first time the dumb girl used her brains"

"Don't say that Nivi , Well bye then take care. And tell him I called and didn't want to know about him"

"Chuck it bro I wont say.."

"Wait wait wait Nivi, I'm going over to Rishabh's place. He and Anya got engaged yesterday. He had invited you guys too, but I told him you wont be able to make it . call him later"

"I will br. Bye then"

I cut her call and called Rishabh next.

"Hey where are you?" I heard him ask before I even knew the call got connected.

"Rish watch out for some breaking news. I'll be late, maybe around eight or eight thirty."

"What is it??"

"TV on"

I cut his call and called Khushi's channel first.

"Hello" I heard someone ask me.

"Is Khushi Gupta on duty?"

"I'm sorry no"

"Can I get her Number?"

"May I know who you are?"

"I'm Arnav Singh Raizada"

"Sorry sir, how do I know its really Arnav Singh Raizada over the phone?"

I was getting irritated by now.

"Well can I speak to Mr. Sharma then?" I asked hoping at least he would be available.

"Sorry, I think I can give you her number" I heard another voice

"its 9445628536. I'm Ria "

"Thanks Ria, you were the one assisting Mr. Sharma the other day isn't it?" I was glad she gave me the number. I hoped she wouldn't ask me the reason.

"Yeah I'm. Anyways bye. I need to go, my shift just finished "

"Bye and thanks again." I said

"My pleasure"

I cut the call and finally gathered courage to call Khushi.

KHUSHI

Mr. Sharma had given me the day off. He normally doesn't do that, but I think my good days are going on.

I heard my phone ring. It was Anya.

"Hey how are you?" I heard as I attended her call.

"I'm fine. Anya you sound too much excited , tell me what is the reason"

"Actually "

"Actually?" I repeated

"The thing is..."

"Is what Anya?"

"I"

"You?"

"I got engaged"

"What? When? How? I haven't even met your boyfriend and you guys got engaged?"

"Well, I'm sorry about that. I never expected him to propose so soon. Anyways you can meet him tonight. I'll text you his address. Be here by seven."

"but tell me" she cut me mid off.

"I'll tell you everything when we meet. Bye. Love you sis"

"love you too. Take care"

OMG. I cant believe that my sister got engaged. I'm so excited to meet her fiance.

I saw I had a message and I opened it

Even though she had asked me to be there by seven I got ready by five thirty. I got dressed in a red tank top and my light g slim fit pants. I was so desperate to meet them and was damn sure that she would be there. And knowing my nature she would be expecting me by six or six thirty. As I started my car I heard my phone ring. I decided to attend it. It was from a private number.

"Hello"

"Is this Khushi?"

Was it my Arnav Singh Raizada calling me.

"yes. Are you Arnav ?"

"You can identify my sound? Interesting"

I couldn't believe it. Arnav Singh Raizada was talking to me. He called me! Wait where did he get my phone number from?

"Before you ask, I'll tell you. I called your office and your friend Ria gave me your number."

OMG what was that? I didn't need to ask the question on my mind and he answered me. Is this some sort of dream?

"I have something that would be of use to you."

"And it is?"

"An exclusive. Could you adjust it for tonight?"

"What?"

"I broke up with Alisha"

"What?" This was personal

"This haven't reached the media yet. If you would like"

"I would. Where are you now? "

He told me the location and I send a quick text to Anya that I would be late. I called my office and told them that Arnav broke up with Alisha and that I would be sending them the video of my small chat with Arnav soon so that they could include it in the 'Celebrity Here' programme which was scheduled at seven.

I went to the park Arnav told me and spotted his car there. I saw him waving at me as he came out of the car. He looked dashing in a white V neck T shirt.

I went to him and he smiled. Aww that smile.

"Hi" I said

"Hi"

"Why me? I mean why did you choose our channel? "

"No reason. You guys came to my mind first" That is so not true.

"Well shall we start?"

I took my camera and switched it to video mode and placed it on top of the car. I made sure that the two of us would be visible in it.

"Hello Mr. Raizada"

"Hi"

"How have you been?"

"Fine I guess"

"Very well, let me just come to the point. There is news going on that you have broke up with your girlfriend Alisha. Is it by any chance true?"

"Yes, I suppose"

"Any specific reasons?"

"Actually, yes. We realised that we were not meant to be with each other"

"So that means no heart breaks?"

"No. We are now just friends"

"with benefits?"

"NO"

"So you are single for the time being?"

"Yes"

"Ready to mingle?"

"Maybe , maybe not."

"Have someone specific in mind?"

I saw him look at me in shock for a second and the next second he had covered it well.

"Again may be maybe not"

"Well if you don't want to say, its fine. Anyways it was nice talking to you Mr. Raizada. Thanks for sparing your valuable time for us"

"My pleasure"

"So I suppose millions of girls would be happy after watching this segment. Over t you guys."

I ended the recording with Arnav next to me smiling at the camera.

I showed him the recording before I could send it to the head office.

"That went well" He said as the video finished.

"Yeah I know" I replied as the sent the video I just recorded to the office.

"Thanks for coming to meet me"

"I should be the one thanking you isn't it? You just boosted my career."

"Okay"

"So thanks again. Bye"

"So soon? Lets have some coffee together?"

"Asking me out on a date?"

He looked surprised as I asked him that.

"I just..."

I cut him mid-off this time

"Actually I need to meet my sister and I'm already late. Maybe we could have coffee together some other time? You have my number right?"

"Sure. I'll let you know"

"Bye"

"Take care"

I turned and walked away from him. Take care? He said that to me?

I decided to concentrate on the road since I needed to meet Anya's fiance , else I would end up in a hospital.
