The actors consider it a good omen that Bakri Eid coincides with New Year today
"For the first time in my career I will be working on New Year's Day. I am hosting an event in Mumbai which has the pop-diva Nelly Furtado and A R Rehman performing," enthuses Rakshanda Khan. She is also thrilled that the New Year is coinciding with Bakri-Eid today.
"I feel it's an auspicious beginning to the naya saal. As is the ritual, we will be doing the qurbani (sacrificing the goat). I will also spend time with my brother and bhabhi!" says Rakshanda. She continues, "I am a number nine person so I am sure 2007 (2+7=9) will be lucky for me all through."
Apart from playing the glamorous Tanya in 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi' (Star Plus), Rakshanda is also playing Tara in 'Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye' (Sahara One).
Meanwhile Tassnim Sheikh ( winner of 'Jet Set Go') is also equally excited that she will celebrate New Year and Bakri-Eid together. "It's a sign of good times and auspiciousness that the New Year falls on Eid. I hope to make the most of this twin occasion. Although I am non-vegetarian, I am not comfortable eating meat of the sacrificial goats. Somehow, I feel sad and guilty for the bakris. But this is my personal sentiment," confides Tassnim.
Incidentally, the actor has been promoting Egyptian tourism and has explored exotic locales in the North African country. Why was her 'Jet Set Go' overseas prize-trip being delayed? "I have scheduled my trip to Europe with my husband in mid-April (2007). We are trying to coincide it with my first wedding anniversary which falls during that week," discloses Tassnim who plans to take on new assignments sometime by February next year.
