Chapter#13

"Oh God, protect me." Khushi whispered to herself as she opened the door to his room and stepped right in.

He was on the phone as usual, barking instructions on the other side as his back faced her. She didn't know if she should interrupt him at this time but this was important to her. Khushi cleared her throat in order to let him know of her presence.

"Aman, I need you get that file and..." Arnav conversed but he stopped immediately as he heard that familiar throat clear. He turned right on his heels to see if he was right and there stood Khushi with her head ducked.

"I'll call you later." He quickly said and shut the phone. "What the hell are you doing inside my room? Can't you see I'm busy? Couldn't you knock?" He said in a breath.

"I have to tell you something. It's important for you to know." Khushi looked up to meet his eyes which were filled with abhorrence.

"But I don't want to hear your voice. You may leave, now!" He growled.

"You have to listen to me. It's about Lavanya. She's cheating on you, she herself told me. I swear I'm not lying. She is using you for your money. She wants me to get married to you so that you'd forget her and fall in lo... "Khushi broke off.

"Enough! How dare you say things like that? I know what you are trying to do. You want me to hate her and get married to you and live happily ever after. Well I guarantee you that that'll never happen, Miss. Khushi Kumari Gupta." Arnav said with taking two quick strides towards her.

He held her arms angrily and shook her once with all his might.

"I don't believe you! And I will never believe your little lies." He said gritting his teeth.

"Ar...Arnav jee you're hurting me." Khushi said in short breaths.

"You will do as I say. Live with me for the next 6 months and if you open your mouth even if by mistake I swear it'll turn out bad for Payal. I'll force Akash and I hope by now you know what I can do." Arnav whispered in anger. Arnav pushed her away from him and stormed out of the room leaving a wretched Khushi behind.

The rest of the evening went away chit-chatting. The families got closer and they were happy apart from the two souls in the room. Arnav did feel guilty at times and questioned him why he was doing this, why he was doing this to her for no reason but the second he thought about it the ASR in him took over his brain and changed his thoughts about everything.

While sitting next to Anjali, Khushi looked at Payal and Akash and then noticed the smiles on their faces. They were so happy and she wouldn't let her sister be miserable because of her. Khushi always put her family before herself. And then they were just six months, she could survive them for her sister, couldn't she?

After what Arnav's father did to his mother he never believed in marriage. He thought no marriage could ever end up successfully but the ASR in Arnav had planned that he'd marry Khushi, stay as far away from her as he could and then he'd give her divorce and blame it on all his Nani that they'd destroyed his life and he was better off with Lavanya. But his heart questioned him would he really do such a thing? Is Lavanya really the one? Would he really hurt his Nani for that one girl?

The Raizada's bid the Gupta's a goodbye. It was a night before the wedding. Everybody needed to finish up the little bits left and have a good nights sleep so that they'd be fresh up for the wedding. But one soul just didn't want the night to end.

Khushi's dairy

12:15 a.m.

There is no hope left now. Why does everything I think of goes opposite? Tomorrow evening is my wedding. MY WEDDING! Shit. I never thought of it like this. I thought my husband would be the most ideal person on Earth. He'd love me, he'd care for me, and he'd call me every night and even climb up the wall to my room on the night before our wedding to talk to me and stuff. But like I said everything goes opposite. All the problems come up and end up on me.

But I have made up my mind; I have to do this for Payal. At least one of us would stay happy… I'll have to bear him for the next six months but I'll stay as far away from him as I could. I won't say a word in front of him. I won't talk to him unnecessarily. I really hope he stays in the office most of the time so that we'd fight less. I hate it when we fight.

I don't know why he trusts Lavanya more than anybody. She even said some guy 'Nk' knows about Lavanya cheating on Arnav jee. I have to know who Nk is and I have to talk to him about this, also ask him for help. I hope he is there for the wedding. I really really do! Uh-oh I think Payal's coming. I need to put this dairy inside my bag so that it leaves for the Raizada mansion tomorrow morning.

As the plane landed with a screech of its wheels touch the ground, Nk got out of the plane with a wide smile.

Arnav was out at the airport for Nk. Nk was coming after a long while and Arnav had so much going on his mind that he so needed Nk to be there because he had to tell him stuff, the whole situation that he was in, in just a span of weeks. He couldn't tell Anjali, he could see how happy she was with Khushi. And Khushi, he saw how the days of marriage were near her fake smile that she put up around others was slowly fading. He'd bet it was fading as no one else noticed. He was cruel, but the 10 percent of the soft spot in him had noticed and had saved it in his heart as the ASR brain had pushed it off as usual.

Arnav was in his thoughts when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to witness Nk. Nk was happy to see him but really didn't show but just smiled, a teeny-weensy smile.

"Nannav meray bhai! How are you?" Nk almost shouted out of excitement which did get attention of people.

"Ugh... you haven't changed a bit man. Stop creating a scene and let us go." Arnav said in his usual tone.

"And you haven't changed too. You're still that grumpy little Arnav I left and you came alone?" Nk said as they walked to the SUV.

"Whatever and yes, I am alone. Do you see someone around me?" Arnav said sarcastically.

"No I mean, I thought Khushi would be here too." Nk said with a frown.

"Khushi? How do you... Oh Di must've have told you." Arnav said.

"Well of-course, you don't tell me anything now. You called me once a week or two. You shameful busy man, who doesn't even call his best-friend. So Anjali Di told me." Nk said faking a sad sigh.

"Nk I've been so busy. And there is so much that are supposed to know." Arnav said as he started the engine.

"I know man. But you know I am glad, I am so glad that you left Lavanya. I hated her; I wonder how you found Khushi." Nk said happily.

"I have not left Lavanya. I still like her, okay? And this Khushi she just ruined it. I hate Khushi." Arnav growled.

"What … What the hell are you saying man? What do you mean?" Nk said as many expressions changed on his face.

Arnav began to tell him what happened and how Lavanya suggested this idea and now he was stuck with Khushi for 6 months.

"Arnav? I did not expect this from you. You still thing she isn't cheating on you? Arnav, Lavanya is doing this all on purpose and you don't get. You call yourself the great clever ASR? You don't even love her. You haven't even once confessed to her, have you ever? As far as I know. It's all been physical and what about that poor girl? You said she'll be in hell? Arnav you can't do this." Nk said as he was in state of shock. Had he become this ruthless? Was this really his best-friend?

"What the... Nk! I thought you'd agree with me and here you are blaming me. Yes maybe I haven't ever confessed to Lavanya but we know we can't be married, none of us wants this. We both have same ideologies. I'll divorced Khushi after 6 months and say that it didn't work out and bse in a relationship with Lavanya." Arnav said as he was saying the most casual thing on earth.

Nk was furious now; he hadn't felt so angry in years. First he was tired and then this whole fiasco, third he didn't know why he had a feeling that this Khushi would be his old best-friend. He couldn't wait to meet her and see if it is her because he knew if it'll be her he'd b able to get Arnav fixed with his ego and ruthlessness.

Nk stayed quite for a while and when they entered the gates of Shantivan, Arnav broke the silence.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Arnav said with a huff.

"Well..." Nk grabbed his mobile and opened the door. "You my friend are going to fall in love with Khushi and I can bet on that. Second I am going to prove it to you that Lavanya was and is cheating on you before I leave." Nk said as he left an angry Arnav in the car alone.
